Santo Tomas is a small resort. We went in October and it was winding down for the winter and was very quiet. Chatting to hotel staff the resort can be packed in July/August with Brits and Italians as the main visitors. The resort is also flat and suitable for those with walking difficulties. There was only a handful of shops but this included a pharmacy and a doctor. The two supermarkets charged extortionate prices and most people popped to the bigger supermarkets in the neighbouring larger villages where prices were more reasonable. There was a nice bakery, and a couple of the usual touristy type souvenir shops, and a couple of cafes. We eat in Es Pins and Las Dunas both of which catered for British tastes. The was a good bus service from Santo Tomas to both Mahon and Ciutadella.

OverallGood Hotel

Just got back from 7 nights break in October 2008. The weather was superb, warm and sunny but not too hot. Only the Mestral side of the complex was open. The Llebeig side was closed for the season. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment over looking the Mestral bar...

Santo Tomas is quiet and relaxed, and can be strolled gently end to end in under 30 minutes. There are dunes lining most of the beach, which are fenced off to protect them, so from the promenade which runs the full length of the resort, access to the beach is via wooden walkways. The beach is lovely, and the waters are very shallow and clear. Could have done with a foot shower near the walkways to rinse off some of the sand. If you walk round the headland a little way at either end of the main beach, the beaches there are still as lovely but quite a few naturists. Why do they have to spend so much time standing up with hands on hips? We did a double take at first but you kind of feel overdressed after that! If you do the walk to the caves, you will see thousands of butterflies and the noise of the grasshoppers or whatever they were is quite phenominal - almost felt tropical! Don't come here if you want wall to wall british pubs or amusements, macdonalds and that type of palava. I hate that, so Santo Tomas for me was perfect. I couldnt think of anything that could improve it. The buses run to Mahon or Cuitadella and were on time and reasonably priced. We went to Cuitadella - at last, fifth time in Menorca and not been there up till now. It's beautiful, less busy than Mahon, liked it better. Would definately come back to Santo Tomas for the sheer relaxation.

OverallVery Good Hotel

Arrived in resort about 9.30pm which gave us just enough time to get stocked up with water, etc. It was so hot in the apartment, I think it may have been closed up for a couple of days, but we got the air con going, and thank god we had it cos it was on all...

A small but very clean resort.Mini golf centre about half way along main road, also small games arcade with football pitch/ tennis courts. Well served by local buses to cuidadela or mahon, from either of which you can get buses to other resorts. There is now a chemist in the resort, also a doctor for a few hours each day. Not a lot of choice in terms of restaurants, the chinese is ok, but quite expensive- £50 for 2px. Pedalos or canoes available on the beach to rent. gets busier at weekends with locals . have never seen any trouble. Ideal for families. Only a couple of supermarkets, and not cheap, but no different to prices in mahon.

Beautiful beaches, good hotels, probably better to pay for half board rather than self-cater as the hotels own the shops and the resort is not big enough for competition so i found the prices high in the shops, although a few bars are cheaper to drag people out of the hotels. You can get a pint of San Miguel for 2 euros outside but they are 3 euros in the hotels. I saw a new arrival pay over 5euros for a Magners in our hotel, if you like a good drink in cheap and cheerful bars then this probably isn't the best choice, however, if you have toddlers and only manage to scrape a pint in in-between entertaing them then this place is ideal. There are beautiful quiet bars along the walk between the beach and the hotels where our toddler would drop off and then we could have a few beers. Older kids may also get bored as there only seemed to be a crazy golf course and pool/games machines. But with a toddler i found the resort was immaculate, safe, good hotels and brilliant beaches, i will return and recommend this resort.

Can a holiday get off to a worse start? On arrival at Mahon the abscence of our pushchair was very frustrating, any toddler parents nightmare, knowing we would be at the resort for a week having to carry our child about in searing heat, also unable to have ...
