Puerto De Santiago / Playa De La Arena review
"Peurto De Santiago Review"
resort to a friend
This is a very nice area but does in our opinion require people to be able to walk without a problem ideally as Santiago and its sister resort of Los Gigantas is very hilly. The other village next door that is Playa De La Arena is much flatter on the sea front area but again hilly going inland and from Santiago. It is not a noising area so if you want lots of night life then don't bother to book this general area as you will be very disappointed. Night life is very much further south. However, if you like sunbathing and thus generally relaxing holiday reading a book or just lazing about with the option of some pleasent walks along the coast line and a bus service at the top of the village (Steep hill climb however) then this is an excellent spot from which to explore the island. For the sports enthusiast there is a couple of bars which have sky sports. There is also a bar called Route 66 that has a regular husband and wife singing act that caters for most tastes and will do requests. With the current Pound to Euro position it would appear that the local restuarants have decided to hold there Euro prices as we noted less people eating out this time around. This we think may be due to the two main local hotels now offering an All Inclusive package. The one negative related to being told that the area had a bout of Norovrus for which we believe some people in our hotel had whilst staying. It was however not a major issue with certainly our hotel and we would thus believe all hotels taking all precautions such as hygiene liquids around the hotel and especially in the restuarant to reduce the potential spread. This could happen anywhere and should not put people off in our opinion from going to the area.

This resort is only small and very quiet. We were all in-clusive at our hotel so we didn't go looking for bars and restaurants but when walking round during the day not many stood out. The beach is great fun if your a good swimmer as the waves are very big at times and the lifeguard will stop people from going in the sea.

Very good with lots to see and do close by. Hire a bike and ride along the costal walkway and discover all of the beaches along the coast.

Apart from the two Bahia Principe hotels there isn't really anything in the resort at all. Being all-inclusive obviously we didn't need to go out for meals or nightlife but you need to drive to see anything of interest. We went on an excursion to Loro Parque and spent over an hour collecting people from hotels in Costa Adeje. If I returned to Tenerife I would be more likely to stay in that resort as there were shops, cafes and so on.

Pleasant beach front cafes and restaurants at slightly inflated prices. Coastal promenade backed by up-market hotels and shopping malls offering a strange mix of value for money and expensive tat.

Playa De Las Americas review
"Playa de las Americas / Los Christianos"
resort to a friend
Playa De Las Americas is a lively resort with a nice promenade and plenty of shops and nightlife and suitable for all age groups. Los Christianos is more quieter and has the Port where the cruise liners dock. Los Christianos is more of a fishing town with fewer restaurants but still very pleasant. Probably better for mature people who like it a bit more peaceful.

The beach was approximately 10 minute walk away and so were the main bars and restaurants. We walked along the promenade one evening to Playa De Las Americas which took around 20 minutes walking with children. This was a lovely walk and the scenery was fantastic.

well maintained and compact resort, lovely beach but 9 Euros for parasol and chairs is too expensive. Loads of places to eat and drink and interesting shops.

Since our last visit many bars and hotels have closed with For Sale or To Rent signs everywhere. Visitor numbers have nosedived and much investment is needed to bring standards up to previous levels . The main Bus Station which was always an eyesore has closed due to it being deemed unsafe.and several streets have been dug up making it awkward to access parts of the resort. Prices in Bars and Restaurants are better than expected with a pint of Dorada 2 Euros in most places and meals from 6 Euros, and snacks from 2 Euros. Good bars include the Beehive, Frigate and Zepps, and all Bars in the main square are good value and friendly. Puerto is still a charming old fashioned type of resort, but must spend heavily to retain its identity.

Los Cristianos review
"We love Los Cristianos"
resort to a friend
We have been going to Los Cristianos on and off for 20 years and we love it. The prices are some of the cheapest on the Island and there is plenty to do there. There are two handy beaches - one at Los Cristianos and one just round the corner. There are free buses to Aqualand, Jungle Park and Siam Park which are all wonderful and only take a few minutes to get to. There are all types of places to eat at reasonable prices although you are pestered a lot when you walk past a lot of the restaurants these days. I don't think there is much night life which suits us but if you want that then I think you should be in Las Americas.

Playa De Las Americas review
"Review on Playa De Las Americas"
resort to a friend
The beach itself was nice but other hol;iday makers feeding the pigeions spoilt the sunbathing, so did the sellers coming round, every five minutes, asking if you wanted to buy sunglasses or watches [even if you had them on, they would still ask you]. Going out at night we were harrassed by being encouraged into the bars and clubs, not by one person but several of them, we felt quite threatened! In some of the bars close to the hotel they had some good singers, we went into one of the bars as we liked the singer, unfortunately within 5 minutes they changed songers and two 'comedians' came on the stage telling jokes but then started on about older people and their grey hair etc, so common and tacky! We drank up and left.

Do not eat at losteria while putting icecream in the bowl the waiter could not get it off the spoon so he pushed it off with his fingers which he then licked & did it again this put me off, we had all ready eaten our main meal which was not all that good. One place that was excellent was matlocks food really good & a place called Bens they pick you up from the corner of the road by Laguna park 2 & will drop you back large portions well worth trying.

Very quiet, not much happenning. One bar to watch sport in - reasonably priced drinks. La lido is the showpiece - superb. It's a day place, not an evening place.
