Playa De Las Americas review
"Choose carefully"
resort to a friend
There are 3 main areas within the resort. The south side is quite refined - must sees are the dancing fountain and Piramide de Arona on Aviende las Americas. The middle section is strictly for the young party goers - a wall of sound as you pass through after 11pm. The port area at the north side of the resort has plenty of bustle with a good selection of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.

Puerto De Santiago / Playa De La Arena review
"Very hilly, very quiet.Lots of road work"
resort to a friend
It was looking rather tired and a little tatty. Few good resterants, not much of any thing really. If you love to walk and you are fit the area had some great views,We didnt get out much because we were so ill.We were told the busses were good value.

It is difficult to comment on the resort as our holiday was all inclusive so everything was catered for by the Bahia Principe. We did go for walks every day & the area was clean & well looked after but we did not do any of the above so couldn't comment.

Puerto De Santiago / Playa De La Arena review
" Puerto santiago - quiet resort"
resort to a friend
Peurto santiago and los gigantes are really one and the same place. Puerto santiago is the quieter end of the resort though. Nearly all the nightlife , bars ,shops and ex pat apartment blocks etc are in los gigantes, which is about a 15 minute walk away. It is ideally located for a more peaceful holiday - as there are likely to be fewer families and young groups of people. It is about 40 min drive to playa de las americas and an hour to the centre of the beautiful national park, and 45 mins from airport, so its hardly isolated if you want to get out and about by car. There isnt a beach (we could find anyway) but a nice coastal path and beautiful views of the gigantes cliffs and sunsets facing west out to sea. Its a find a nice hotel or apartment and chill out type of place.

Cracking resort, really pleasant. There are some really good restaurants, and it is a bit more genuine than Las Americas. Beach is nice for a stroll, and it was nice and warm/mild. You can also watch the PL at some of the bars, very good!

Los Gigantes review
"A COMPACT BUT HILLY VILLAGE"
resort to a friend
A small hilly village tucked under the massive cliffs. Two supermarkets, purfume shop and other small knick-knack shops. A nice sqaure with a small church linned with some bars and restaurants. Not a sinlge time-share tout to be seen - absolute bliss! There's anice walk down to the harbour which has some bars and restaurants and it's nice to sit at one of them with a morning coffee and admire the view of boats and those massive cliffs. The beach is volvanic sand but this year has been closed to the public owing to a fatal accident last year when part of the cliff collapsed. Their is a bus service which can take the traveller up to Santa Cruz in the north via Las Americas. It's a pleasnat journey and provides a great way to see the island. Nearby is the small bay of Playa de La Rena which is another pleasant place to visit.

The only beach, if you could call it that, had been closed after a landslide. One very small marina with a few tacky restaurants. The few bars offering entertainment in February had club style singers - rubbish!

You can't go far wrong with Playa de las Americas really, typical resort built for Brits and the like but for decent weather in winter you can't beat it. Plenty of good bars showing Eastenders etc, all you need!

We have been to Spain umpteen times over the years, but this was our first trip to Tenerife surprisingly. The resort was quite nice, we liked the excursions to the national park and volcano though. The resort did have lots of nice bars and restaurants.

We like Playa de las Americas, you know what you are going to get. It is a pretty safe Brit-Med type place, lots of good English bars and restaurants showing the latest Eastenders, Corrie and football. Good place to relax in the sun!
