We were sent the apartment key in advance and a nice information pack and excellent details on how to find the apartment. We arrived late at night and the welcome pack provided by the owner was welcome. The apartment was very clean and tidy. It was like a home from home - it had British TV, Hi-fi, oven, dishwasher, freezer, microwave, washing machine and a safe, in fact we wanted for nothing. Other than stocking the fridge up with beer! Though owner said that could have been arranged!! The complex only has a swimming pool. There is no poolside bar or cafe. The sunbeds are a bit tired and jaded - but owner has told us that the pool and terraces are going to refurbished in November - so the pool might not be available - so watch out for this. We spoke to some people at the who were asking about the state of our apartment, who had booked through a holiday company and when they saw our apartment and asked what we paid - they were really upset - I will not use their actual words. They felt robbed.
There are plenty of resturants and bars nearby. Also the area is under the flight path to the airport - but we soon got used to the noise. If you are a plane spotter it would be paradise!
There is no beach in Golf Del Sur - just a pebble one. Nothing for teenagers.

The San Blas Commercial Centre was just yards away, with lots of restaurants and bars. Our favourite eating places were Great Wall Chinese, Big Al´s and Gulliver´s.
Most of the bars shut at 12.30, however, the Zodiac Bar, which we went to every night, was open until 2.00am or later. The owners Garry and Lynn, with their daughter Donna were great hosts and made you feel very welcome - with good prices and big big measures we staggered out of there many many nights (and we did have a bit of a sore head in the morning). Pop in to see them, they will make you feel very welcome.
Their is also entertainment in the Top Square of San Blas every night, the Beatles and Abba are good nights, with many other singers and Sonny, who is the oldest singer in town I think, is a good laugh.
You won´t be dissappointed, you will have a great time.

We have just returned from a week in Tenerife - a really cheap break which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Golf del Sur is a typical man-made resort built around several Golf courses about 4 kilometers from the main airport. There is no beach but the apartment we had at the Sand Club had such a massive balcony that we stayed there to sunbathe, although we had very little sun during our week there. If you stay at Golf del Sur you will not be able to avoid aircraft noise during daytime hours - some days are busier than others and we were never disturbed at night. One of the biggest pluses of this resort is the San Blas centre 2 minutes walk away from Sand Club. This has several excellent restaurants and we had some of the best meals we have had at any holiday resort. 3 on the same block - La Strada Italian,Le Plato de Ora Tapas Restaurant (fantastic) and Gullivers Grillhouse and the Great Wall of China in the centre were all excellent as was the Hong Kong Chinese cheap and cheerful buffet next to the Doctors.
Our apartment had everything we required, a fridge and cooker that worked and a good shower. We felt that the Sand Club represented excellent value for money but if you expect luxury then don't go there! Our week cost £195 each including Monarch flights from Luton - very good including a free movie. We could afford to hire a car as the holiday was so cheap and we went to Garachico at the far western end of he island via the Mount Teide National Park. This is far more Spanish than the concrete jungle of Los Christianos and Las Americas and has some interesting history.Los Abrigos, just along the coast from Golf del Sur is also worth visiting - we had a smashing meal at the Langostura fish restaurant there.
A lot of the reviews of the Sand Club on this site are negative and I was worried before setting off. If we wanted another cheap winter break with guaranteed warmth (68f all week with no rain)we would return.

We had a lovely holiday here, only down side was that alot of the apartments are in need of a refub and the pool area is a great suntrap but again could do with a refub.
Apparently if you book direct with one of the owners of the apartments then you wld probably get an apartment that has been refurbished by the owners.
The location was good as there was a huge square with no passing traffic so safe for children and it is full of bars and restaurants, we did not have a bad meal here at all! and it is only 5 mins walk away from apartments. Lots of golf here but expensive as it is in most of europe. There is not a beach in walking distance. We went half term week but the pool side bar was closed which was unfortunate but it didnt't spoil the great weather and the relaxing time we had. The guy that works in the reception is fantastic and always happy to help out.
Would revisit again but wld like to book apartment with an owner but would travel with broadway travel again as the flights were fantastic and they were nice people to deal with.

Just arrived home from Golf del Sur and on the whole had a good holiday, though that was more to do with the other family we went away with than the resort. The appartments are the first you will see from the airport and so the taxi journey was 6 minutes which has its benefits when you have 4 children and to be honest you get used to the planes and the noise and by the end of the holiday we weren't noticing them. The appartment however was dire. No kettle,a hob and a fridge (they must be counted as luxuries), single beds that were so noisy that we had to put the mattresses on the floor and a window in the one bedroom that let in a nights worth of rain and it was shut !!!!!!!
The pool was clean and had a childs pool encorporated there was however supposed to be a poolside snack bar, there was but it looks as though it has never been open.
Golf del sur is a family resort and is generally quiet,if like us though your appartment is on the road be warned as the rubbish is collected at 3.30 every morning and its very noisy.
Our second week was better as we hired a car and so spent less time at the resort. The Jungle Park and the Aqua park were good fun but the cable car ride up Mount Tiede was a complete disaster and I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone who doesn't like queing in the blazing sun for three hours for a ride that lasts 8 minutes and doesn,t even get you all the way to the top.By the way the cost of this trip was 22 euros for adults and 11 for children.
All I can say is thank goodness for the lovely weather and the lovely beach at Fanabe. We had lovely days there, no crowds and plenty of sunbeds. We also had a wonderful evening meal in Toroviscos in a restaurant that was a castle. We had views to the beach one way and the sun setting over the ocean the other and the food was excellent.
