We were invited by Club la Costa to attend a Presentation they were giving at one of their places in our area. As we already own Timeshare we were interested in attending to see what they also had on offer. The Presentation was fairly lengthy and although we did like what they were showing us we were going out to our own Timeshare within about another 2 weeks and wanted to see what deals we would be offered by our own company for a second week - they wanted an answer there and then so we had to say No. We were given some vouchers for attending and offered a free week at one of their resorts either in Spain or Tenerife as well. We had to send them a nominal fee and 4 dates that we would be able to go. For that you got your flights for 2 people and a week's accommodation. Ours came up for June/July 2007.
The Flight out there through Monarch (Scheduled) was delayed by some 15 hours going and 9 hours coming back due to Technical problems. Bit of a nightmare but Monarch did ensure that people were given vouchers for food/drink both for breakfast, lunch and we were taken to a Hotel, booked a room and given a very nice buffet dinner as well. Not the ideal start to a holiday but unfortunately that could not be helped for the obvious safety aspects. The flights themselves were fine (Airbus) lots of room.
Sunningdale Village was absolutely lovely - ok, so you said ";No"; to joining Club la Costa, so you know that you will not get a top-of-the-range apartment - but believe me it was still of a very acceptable standard. We had a one bedroomed one - no Air Con - but an enormous ceiling fan in the lounge and one also in the bedroom which we found quite adequate (and the biggest double bed to boot too). Welcome pack in the fridge when you arrived (nice touch). Washing machine, microwave, full sized cooker, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and good range of plates, cutlery, utensils etc. Large Patio area, table, chairs, sunbeds, umbrella. Lovely and clean. Every facility on offer there so totally designed to keep all ages happy.
Great restaurant called Zacary's - food very good. Buffet breakfasts available also.
You are invited to attend a Welcome Meeting the morning after you arrive - which advises you of all the different trips etc that they have on offer - followed by a really nice lunch as well.
Yes, you do have to attend another Presentation (nice buffet breakfast before) whilst you are there - it is not awful by other standards we have seen. We still decided not to venture into it as we now have 2 weeks in our own Timeshare and Club la Costa (and the Sunningdale Village) are in our Resort Directory now so we wouldn't necessarily have gained anything in the longrun.
There is a wonderful breeze that blows in this area and you have to be very careful not to get burnt. There are quite a few Golf Courses around (you would need a car really for these). Not much in the way of beaches as such we found but there is a lovely pool on site anyways. Quiet Resort not for those who want something more lively. Went to Loro Parque whilst we were there - it is brilliant and well worth a visit - bit like Sea World in Florida.
All in all we had an absolutely fabulous time at the Sunningdale Village and we will definitely be going back again via our own Timeshare next time.

We've been here lots of times over the last ten years and seen lots of changes- all for the better. The resort (Golf del Sur) is blooming - each time there are new roads, buildings and more things to do.
Sunningdale itself is excellent in every way - especially for families with small children-there is a kids club with staff entertaining the kids upto 12yrs old. There are also activities for the slightly older kids/and grown ups (some organised )including the pool,a daily quiz,table-tennis,mini golf water volleyball ,speed pool etc.
The apartment are well located and looked after-the only negative is that many are waiting for air conditioning to be added -most of the year the large fans are adequate-(this week was over 100degrees in the shade!)I'm sure they will be added in the next year or two.Reception can however organise extra fans etc and are always open and helpful (staff are all excellent).
Apartments are well equipped -TV and dvd *player as well as full kitchen and laundering facilities.(*take your own or hire from reception- great for a quiet night or for when it's too hot for the kids outside).
There are ONLY families at the resort-NO big groups of people, noisy youths etc- it is a relaxing secure 4/5* hideaway.
The bar closes at 12.30 and provides a variety of good butlow key entertainment each evening.A 20 minute walk (or 5min taxi-apx 5euros)will take you to the San Blas square which has a fair amount of restaurants with entertainment and shops (all shops in Tenerife sell the same junk and it's just as cheap in San Blas!) including a big supermarket (there is also a small yet ample one on site at Sunningdale depending how much you plan to cook). You can opt to get the hotel minibus for a small charge into nearby Los Cristianos or Las Americas which are more commercialised-Americas has the best beach/nightlife whereas Los Cristianos is a lovely resort with nice shops and seafront (when it's finished-as it's being refurbished this year).I've never bothered with a car but if you plan to stay for longer than a week or make lots of trips it would be worth hiring one for a few days.
A perfect place to stay if you are civilised and want a relaxing ";pool"; holiday in a beautiful location- but it's not for you if you are after late boozy nights or clubbing.
