The hotel looks really lovely and the rooms are nice but the food was not good at all. The food was never hot and the food selection was more aimed at the spanish people in the hotel. Towels were changed everday but that was only cos I made sure I let them on the floor but my bed was only changed on the eleventh day (I knew this cos my daughter got chocolate on the sheet on the first day) and they were only changed then cos the henna tatoo I had on my back had left a big mark on the bed sheet! The floors were swept occasionally but the remains of the dust and my hair was usually swept into the corner of the room. The entertainment at the hotel was awful, the only real thing the children had was a twenty minute mini disco in the evening that played the same six songs every night. The evening entertainment was rubbish and was situated in a downstairs room with no air conditioning that was so hot i could not stay down there for longer than half hour. Apparently there was a kids club in the day but I only ever knew about it on the day we were departing as in all the other hotels I have been the kids are rounded up by the pool side but in this hotel the children had to again go to a room that was under the hotel and personally I did not fancy my daughter coming back all hot and bothered! The three pools were lovely but you had to get up at half eight if u wanted any chance of getting a sunbed, there was some older foreign couples using two umbrellas for two sunbeds where there was people with young children not able to get one. I would definetely not rate this hotel as four star I have stayed at a three star all inclusive for the past two years and the three star was much better than the Dunas Paraiso. I will not be returnng to this hotel ever and I would only recommend it to people that are not from the Uk as this hotel is more suited to Spanish/German people. Also the nearest beach is a taxi fare away so don't be fooled by the occean view there is no beach near the hotel.

OverallPoor Resort

There is nothing at all to do in this resort there is no beach a poor selection of bars and restraunts and the shops are all the same. The walk itself from the hotel down to the shops is uphill and the paths are full of dog mess!!

First the good points of which there are few.The accommodation is very good and cleaned daily and the food is up to quite a good standard .If you are lucky you might meet some people like we did and become good friends .I think thats it for good points right the bad points .First we went on a tue which was fine except that it was a spanish holiday on the friday the place simply filled to over flowing and guess what they stopped the kids playing with balls and lidos in the pool as it is a safty hazard .But guess what it was ok for them to use them any other time. Next beleive it or not they had security guards out at the pool till 0900 so no one could use the pool or get a sunbed again only when the spanish where there. When the hoards arrived they didnt put extra staff in the resturant they simply tried to cope and believe me they couldnt because people where queing for up to an hour.Right on to entertainment what can i say not a lot really if you like seeing animals being mauled by kids and not enjoying it then go .I can however recomend going to jungle park or loro park to see animals these are both a good day out so all in all not a hotel we will be going back to .

Stayed at this accommodation for five night with my six year old son, having decided to exptend family holiday. (We had spent the first week at the Bahia Principe with my husband, and could not get a room for extra few days). We travel two to three times a year and stick to 4* or more hotels, and this ranks as one of the worst in every way.

Food: The food was bad, in fact I will eat basically anything and have never found anything inedible - until now. The cornflakes were unchewable. The food was cold. If you weren't there early it was likely to be all gone. Some mornings the drinks machines were covered and if you were thirsty that was tough. The restuarant was like a canteen to look at also.

Clenliness: As said before by others, the rooms were not cleaned well, I too had ring marks on the surfaces all week. If you wanted a siesta you had to forfeit your room being cleaned because they never did mine until 3-4 pm. The plates in the dining room were often dirty to the touch and badly chipped too. The pool area was disgusting, even in the morning, espically the lower pool, you wouldnt take your flip flops off very readily! The best was one evening in the disco/entertainment theatre. A child threw up right in the front of the stage between the chairs and tables. The staff were told more that once, and people were moving away from it, and walking through it, until some of the guests surrounded it with chairs for safety. It was still there at closing time, just ignored.

Staff/entertainment/animation: I found some staff very nice, even witty. But the staff in the dining /service area really were resentful of having to do any work. I was practically assaulted by a waitress trying to offload some plates behind where I was getting my dinner, she just shouldered me out of her way. Another time I got admonished for taking a serviette from a bundle - it was in spanish but I got the drift. The animation team were young and seemed to be more suited to Ibiza, so did there music, which was often unsuitable for kids. the entertainment at night was pretty miserable too from bingo with peanuts to drag shows with men grabbing their bits...again not suitable for all ages. I could live with most of the above but what really finished it for me was, I let my son go to kids club and I signed him in as you do, and was told the time to come back to pick him up but before it came to that time, he arrived back at the bed on his own. Now it was a fair walk and I didnt have a line of vision to where he was so he had been let go without my signing him out to walk around on his own. That was not acceptable in any way to me. They just didnt seem that bothered about it really. Finally, having spent the previous week in the Bahia Principe I may have been spoiled, but there is no comparison between these two hotels.I wondered why there was the price difference with the Bahia coming out that bit deared, but I now see why, you get what you pay for is the answer, in this case anyway. The Dunas is no where near 4*, The building itself is lovely but thats where it ends. Its a shame.

The resort is very small and has little in the way of shops, restaurants and bars. However, the Dunas Paraiso is all inclusive so this did not spoil our holiday. In fact the hotel was excellent and had everything we hoped for i.e. two beautiful pools and a paddling pool for the little ones, brilliant rooms (junior suite), large balcaony with sun beds, three bars one of which sold branded names and was not part of the all inclusive deal. Good selection of food although occasionally some items were not very hot. However, we were disappointed with the Italian/Chinese restaurant. The sea front location was very nice but the food was not a lot different to what was served in the main restaurant. The drinks at the main bar are served in paper cups but this can be overcome by getting a drink from the entertainment bar (downstairs) in either a plastic glass or sometimes a proper glass then refilling upstairs. The entertainment was not great but there was plenty of places inside and out to sit and relax and enjoy the evening. We had a late flight home but was able to keep both rooms on until 6pm at the cost of 30 Euros per room. No problems with the hotel staff we found them very friendly and helpful. There was some building work going on immediately outside the front enterance but as we had a room overlooking the sea it did not effect us at all.
