If you can cope with the walks back up the hills then this is ideal for all. The adjoining resorts are a €0.95 bus fare away and even going to Las Americas by bus is only €2.05 (terrifice value with the BONO bus pass) There is plenty of good class accommodation available in the three adjoining resorts but would not recommend this area for young families. A reasonable number of eating places but after 10.00pm not much to do except for the 'Blarny Stone' in Playa De La Arena.

OverallVery Good Hotel

Seemed to tick most of the boxes. Clean comfortable, good service provided by very friendly staff, good location, big plus very near to the bus stop. For the price we paid, would have no hesitation in visiting again next year. Can not comment on the food as...

"Relaxed clean and safe resort"

We are in our late 50's and have been holidaying abroad for 35 years, sometimes 3 holidays a year. The kids don't come with us so what we look for is relaxation, good food and drink. A beach is not a necessity as we prefer a lounger round a pool. There is a little black sand beach 5 minutes walk away but we didn't feel the need to sit on it. There is a much larger one in La Arena but again black sand. It's obvious that La Arena and Los Gigantes have existed for some time. Santiago however appears to have been created as a purpose built tiny resort fairly recently. Acces is by a spur road from the main road linking La Arena and Los Gigantes so there is no passing traffic in Santiago which is brilliant. In fact the only road in Santiago is this spur road which is circular, one way and just circles the hotel and shopping bar complex of the resort. There is one other hotel the Barcelo Santiago which does look very inviting with sea views for most rooms unlike ours which is probably 50 yeards inland. Other than that there are several apartment blocks. Santiago has 4 or 5 bars. The best for live acts is Route 66 without doubt. There are plenty of typical holiday restaurants ranging from Spanish, Mexican, Chinese, Italian and International with good food in all. 3 bars open for breakfasts which range from full Emglish to anything you want- just ask. One absolute gem is La Pergola. If you watch Masterchef and wonder what that quality of food is like then eat here to find out. FANTASTIC. Great service, unbelievable food. You must book a table though and wear a shirt/ trousers guys. Further afield try Casa Pedros on the way to La Arena - 10 mins stroll along the pedestrians only prom. Again book a balcony table with the sea crashing on the rocks below, magical. Walk along the costal path through Crab Island to Los Gigantes - 15 mins stroll to find several restaurants. Join the ex pats at The Tipsy Terrace or walk further to discover lots of choices. You really do need to have your mobility in this area as there are steps and hills to negotiate which would be a problem for the less able. If you walk via the main road from Santiago to either Los Gigantes or La Arena the hills are very steep - beware, But if you stroll to La Arena via the promenade - turn down the slope next to the tiny Netto and turn left onto the prom at La Pergola the only steep bit is behind the little beach and that hill is only about 50 yards long. Call at the Fishermans at the top for a beer!

"Fantastic Holiday"

Operator: First Choice

The resort is very quiet but a lovely beach, I would not recommend the area for the less mobile as it is very hilly.
