When reading reviews on this site it is easy to think, Oh these people are fussy, or complain about anything.
Please remember this is supposed to be a 4* all-inclusive resort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you go to Tenerife do not under any circumstance go to this hotel!!!!!

I and my partner arrived at the hotel to find holes in the floor (this was at the main entrance)
We then entered the dark uninviting foyer,
Getting out of the lift we were met with a door which I can only describe as prison cell door with graffiti and scrapings in front of us ( how inviting)

Once in our room it got much worse, there was a patio table (that was once white) that had graffiti all over it (it said Ohmar '95 (this written 9years ago) on a cheap patio set

There were holes in the walls, broken glass to our patio door, Dust filled vents in the room and TV there was dirt to all skirting and walls.

Our bath was chipped and stained, the toilet was cracked the bidet was also discolored and cracked.
The taps were rusty and the hot tap did not work. The fan light string was approximately one inch long (very unsafe)

To every floor was stained unappealing carpets, Misshaped and bent windowframes, cracks in most tiles and general grime everywhere.

OUTSIDE
Where the snack shack was the entire straw roof was in pieces, there was many cockroaches breading and in many different sizes within 5mtrs of the eating area, there was large holes missing in the floor (very unsafe for children!!)
We asked for a cheese toasty at the snack shack, we couldn't have one instead we were offered a cheese sandwich (prepacked) with the date 2 days before we arrived on it!
The sandwich was hard and uneatable.

I refused to stop there and I was forced to pay 800euros to move to a hotel which was not all-inclusive to a completely different area, costing me and my partner allot more money

This hotel was not even a poor quality 2*!!!!!!!

we booked this holiday off the teletext, the price was good! after paying for the holiday, we recieved our flight tickets, and found we were flying from Bristol to Tenerife via Birmingham !! the travel agent never mentioned this when booking !!!

We eventually arrived in Tenerife 2 hrs. later than scheduled, picked up our hire car ( transfers to the hotel were dearer than hiring a car for the week )and headed for our hotel. The journey took about 40 mins. and the hotel is literally 2 mins. from the motorway exit.

The hotel itself isn't 4*,3* at most, but the rooms were clean and comfortable, and staff quite helpful. The selection of food on offer for breakfast, lunch and evening meal was first class, with as many drinks as you required with lunch and dinner.Although the bar is small for the number of guests that the hotel holds, we nevr queued for than a couple of mins. for drinks.

As with previous reviewers, there is very little to do in the resort ( Candelaria is a 2km. walk along the sea front,)it would be ideal for people just wanting a week away to relax and chill.

After reading the comments on this hotel we were slightly worried. We did not need to be though. We went for 5 nights and had a really good holiday.

There is not much at all in the resort but the hotel has plenty going on. The tennis court was used by us everyday and the pool(s) are plenty big enough for all that stay in the hotel.

There were always sun loungers available and they are free.

The food was great, with lots of choice and if you want healthy there is always an option. For the evening meal try to get down earlier than 9 as it gets very busy.

The entertainment is great fun even though they do it all in 5 languages!

I wouldnt go back to the hotel because of the resort but if you have booked it dont worry you will have a good time.

This isnt a 4* at all , we just had a week there and well , the entertainment staff we cant fault at all and some of the reception staff either but then theres always good with bad , some of the male staff just continued to costanstly oogle at my partner while at meal times ,then security staff well , firstly the day security bloke walks round like he is the law and the night security bloke well , if the hotel wishes my newphew knows how to handle himself if they need a proper night security , this is cause one night in the hotel disco my girlfriend and a young lady we met there were followed into the toilets by a spainis bloke , he made a sexual comment in spain while grabbing his you know what , when we complained to the night staff nothing at all was done we made fuss about this and the police were called , lucky for him but as the saying goes when in spain do as the spainish do , yep nothing no copper any where well thats our bad experince ,,

but apart from that we met some lovely people there , you know who you are ian, emma ,kim, kelvin, carl, mel(lovely geezer carl),brian, kath, mick and michelle but plz this isnt a 4*but if you wanna get drunk on there drink and be by a nice pool then go and make sure you have your transfers sorted or it will cost you from 39 to 50 euros GOOD LUCK and a big thanks for the free bottle of baileys too (carl)

We arrived in the middle of the night after a bad flight just expecting there to be trouble checking in (like you do!). We were greeted by a friendly face on reception who checked us in quickly. we recieved our adjacent rooms as requested, and went to bed on the most comfy hotel beds.

Breakfast wasnt brilliant, but the croissants were freshly baked and georgeous as were the omelettes. The hotel itself is in need of a refurbish but we noticed signs of work going on while we were there.

The bar and restaurant staff were not the most friendliest ive come across but were certainly some of the most efficient. There was bingo every day and many sport competitions to join in with (i took a liking to the pool games!!) The animation staff did a brilliant job of entertaining 4 different nationalities (esp aaron who was most friendly) with the exception of the posing lifeguard who was miserable!!

The evening entertainment was of a good standard (my partner and i won ";ideal couple"; !!!) and the alcohol measures that you get from the bar would more than make up for anything that wasnt.
Although the resort is far away from , well, everything, there are 3 car hire places within spitting distance (may i reccommend the one across the road, the furthest one of the two for its cheaper and better quality cars).
The maid service was good. Fresh towels every day and even tidied up after messy me!

All in all we enjoyed our holiday. We had no problem getting a sun lounger (the sea pool is well worth the visit by the way - very pretty you couldnt ask for a nicer view), we had no problem getting served at the bar (crisp n nuts too), we enjoyed the games and comps, and had a nice relaxing holiday.

We arrived at 11pm and entered the smoke filled reception area, with it's assortment of vending machines the whole area looked extremely tacky and run down.

The hotel boasts 4 stars, DONT BE FOOLED, it is at best a 2 star, and no myself and my family are not snobs. There were 8 in our party and we had specifically asked to be placed in adjacent (or at least rooms closely situated together), two of our party were placed in a different block altogether. We asked for this situation to be rectified and were told that another room would be available the next day.

We carried our own bags upto the third floor and entered our room which overlooked the 'show bar' and a power station. With two small children we were horrified by the loud music which could still be heard through the ill fitting patio doors!! We enquired at reception how long this noise would go on and were assured the music went off at midnight (which to be fair it did).

We all went down to breakfast and seated ourselves in the non smoking area which smelt extremely fusty. The food for all meals was bland, boring and obviously done as cheaply as possible. There was often no cuttlery/crockery available and when it was , it was sometimes dirty ,customer service was extremely poor. The only plus was the home made french bread which was delicious.

The staff as a whole are obviously only interested in the Spanish tourists who are in the majority and made British people feel like second class citizens. I have also seen the Spanish in a different light, having no respect for their environment or others whatsoever! Our bedroom was cleaned and serviced daily but the remainder of the hotel is in desperate need of refurbisment and deep cleaning - the pool has tiles missing and appeared a little scummy on top.

The sea pool is not even worth bothering to CROSS THE BUSY ROAD for, it was even dirtier and if you needed a drink or food you had to walk back to the hotel. We got the holiday at a bargain price so we grinned, put up with the problems and entertained ourselves, since we had excellent weather this helped, if the weather had been bad or if we had paid a 4 star price I think we would have had to have gone elsewhere.

PS If you are brave enough to go to this hotel, avoid the picnics as these are definitely a bout of food poisening waiting to happen!! HAPPY HOLS!!

Just returned from a fantastic week at the Hotel Punta Del Rey. Having read previous reviews, we approached this holiday with an open mind. Reception staff greeted our party with much warmth, saying how happy the hotel was to have English customers.

Reception area very large and open plan with shops, games room hairdresser and scuba diving shop. Rooms were large with furnished balconies. Beds were the most comfortable we have experienced in a holiday hotel. Maid service excellent. Clean towels every day. Ceiling fan and airconditioning in the rooms were very welcome as the weather was extremely hot.

Dining room again was large with smoking and non-smoking sections. Each lunchtime and evening the head waiter shows diners to the table and the wine waiter immediately takes the drinks order. Staff are efficient and unobtrusive. Show cooking at lunch and dinner and in the morning the bread ovens are busy with the freshly baked coisants.

Very little time spent queing for drinks at the bar and a round of drinks could be ordered at any one time.
Ample sunbeds with a life guard and first aider always in attendance - they even attend to cases of sunburn at no cost!

Plenty of day time activities with no pressure to join in. Staff are just as happy for guests to sit and enjoy the fun. The sea front swimming pool is across the main road, but well worth the effort for the views and garden terraces which were beautiful. The hotel is set in a mainly residential resort and therefore no tourist shops were to be found. A walk down the steep hill to the sea front brings you to a selection of local bars and restaurants. Bus stop outside the hotel takes you to Santa Cruz for 1 euro, where you can catch a bus to any part of the island with ease.
Entertainment in the evenings was very much an 'all inclusive' affair, however, all nationalities joined in and were very friendly. Disco opened at midnight and this is where the Brits came into their own.

Please do as we did and keep an open mind regarding this hotel and I hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we all did.

booked very last minute for this thru medhotels.com, flight and car booked seperately, car thru record was cheapest and i searched ages. The Hotel is a nice enough hotel we were ther for xmas 2003 and i have to say the gala dinner was first class by any standards would cost at least a £100 per head at home 5 course king prawns the size of lobster and waitress at the table just to seve wines.3 diff kinds champagne which was vg overall this was bril and the best of the hols.

its true it probably isnt 4* certainly no more, drawbacks were very long wait for drinks on occasion especially at entertainent which apart from 1 special evening was pretty poor although they try. W thoroughly enjoyed the holiday no complaints as such, if your easy going you'l enjoy if not you might not, other things ..weather at xmas was more or less cloudy and we were pleased to have car to travel south where it is heaps better no cloud and hotter 70s and beware the locals with there fire crackers they will frighten you .they are loud!! you are near that power tower but you dont see it there is no beach nr hand but nice walk round harbour etc......value for money id say pol was freezing tho lol..hope i havent put anyone of as i say we enjoyed.

Laguna Golf and Country Club is definitely NOT the place to go if you have children. We stayed in one of the resort's villas (a 20min walk back to reception). The villa was adequate and had it's own pool but this was surrounded by a 3ft wall with a 15ft drop onto the road on the other side! Resort is VERY quiet - car hire would be essential - if you trust the hire cars abroad. Resort supermarket was EXTORTIONATE! - £1 for tin of beans, £2.50 for daily paper. I wouldn't recommend Laguna to ANYONE - don't do it!!

We took a cab from the airport and headed north towards Santa Cruise. Then in the distance we saw a large power station. I thought to myself, ";I hope that the hotel is nowhere near that"; As we approached the driver started to indicate off towards the power station. Then about 400 yards past the power station stopped outside the hotel. My first impression was that the driver had misunderstood my broken spainish and taken us to the wrong place. Then I looked up and saw the sign 'Hotel Punta Del Rey' with four illuminated stars underneath. The hotel consists of two tower blocks. One is 7 story's and the other 9 and is very seventies style.

Don't be fooled This Hotel is not 4 star proberly more like 2-3 star. One thing was that the hotel was very clean appart from late at night when the stairs from the disco were normally drenched with puke.

The room was ok but we had to be moved to another part of the hotel as we had some really nosiy neighbours, who thought that is was ok to slam doors and fight with each other until 4am in the morning.

The pool area is very old and the pool needs re-tiling. Don't be fooled by the hotels web site, it looks like the rock pool is near the freshwater pools. It's not its about 300 yard across a busy main road. We had an all inclusive deal which was ok everything including bar snacks, crisps, peanuts, bottles of fizz, wine all free.

The restaurant was buffet style with the normal sort of stuff. personally I thought the food was crap. but most people thought it was ok. look out for the really grumpy bloke who serves the pasta. I don't think he smiled all week.

The entertainment was quite good very butlins type of stuff but with a bit of eurovision throne in. Karaokoe was funny ";Gemma don't give up your day job"; There is not enough sun beds for the amount of people staying. The best thing to do is to take a bus from outside the hotel and head for Santa Criuse bus station where you can get another bus 109 which takes you to a fantastic beach with fine golden sand and a couple of excellent tapas bars.Pardise compared to the hussle and bussle of the hotel.

All in all we had a good holiday but only because we met some really nice people and hit the beach everyday. If you like lots of noise and queing at the bar and football shirts you will love it. If not this is not the place for you.
