Just back from a 14 night stay at The Blue Water near Wadduwa. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had wonderful excursions to the Elephant Sanctuary, The Turtle Sanctuary, Lion Rock at Sigriya, Hikkaduwa and white water rafting. The staff are excellent and the food is out of this world. I've travelled to numerous countries but the food at this hotel was second to none.
We were fortunate to meet a lovely young lad named Rucci, just acroos the railway tracks outside the hotel who took us on all our excursions. He was half the price of the rep's, incredibly knowledgable about Sri Lanka and every little detail had been ctared for. If you're going to the area, look up Ruchi, who can usually be found on the beach.

We stayed at Blue Water Hotel for a 2-week stay on a Half Board Basis.
LOCATION:
Right on the beach. over 2-hrs from Colombo city. 15-minutes from Kalatura city. Along side the west-coast railway line. No other hotels in vacinity. Set back away from main road. Quiet location surrounded by 80-feet palm trees.
HOTEL:
Absolutely beautiful. Spacious grounds. Very modern and open-plan. Quiet and tranquil. Definately a 5-star property.
ROOMS:
Rooms Could do with re-decorating. However very comfortable. Linen changed daily. Mini-bar re-stocked daily. All rooms have a FULL sea-view. We got a basket of fruit delivered on arrival, a fresh flower and 'Good-night' message before bedtime, nice little touches!
RESTAURANT:
Nice romantic candle-lit buffet-style international restaurant. Good choice of foods for all tates, especially spicy food. Curry lovers paradice! Although you might get sick of the back-ground music, I think I sang 'Celine Dion My Heart Will Go on' in my sleep!!
BEACH:
Miles and miles of secluded sandy beach. Feel free to bathe in the noddy if you wish !! Only local people use this beach, fishermen etc. Very quiet! The ocean is very strong so be careful..!
EXCURSIONS:
We went to the Elephant Orphanage and a visit to Kandy. It included a visit to the Spice gardens, temple of the Tooth (buddist temple), Gemstone factory and the botanical gardens. Very long day, such a long journey, but well worth it!
PEOPLE:
Sri Lankan people are so so friendly, such warm people. Most people speak very good English and they'll do anything to ensure you have a lovely stay!
OVERALL:
I would definately book up again, probably next year! All I can say is 'Serendipity'.. definately worth a visit! Beautiful country..
..Go on..Book up and go!!

Since they had their tsunami they so want visitors to go home and tell all their friends how good Sri lanks is so more people will visit. In our country it would possibly only be 2* but there this is one of the best hotels. Always very very happy to help you. I was drinking herbal tea and they always got some for me.
We did a 2 day trip to Kandy with Rohan Chandrasekara he was a fantastic guide spoke many language and lived in Germany for a few years. When you stop at tourist spots sometimes street sellers are a bit overpowering but if you buy something or just say no firmly they leave you. We visited the elephant orphange. That is magic! If you pay a dollar or so you can feed the wee orphans or get your photo taken with the other elephants. The locals are always happy to see british people hoping to get a tip from them, even the lady at the toilets in the airport was so pleased to see me! I gave her a dollar. (70p) Enjoy the attention! watch for the mosquito though, we were lucky only a few bites. They come every night to your room and plug in a repelent.
Happy holidays, we will return.

The Hotel and staff were excellent until the weekend came and the Hotel doors were open to all the locals. This meant that the swimming pool, gardens and the resturants were taken over by Sri Lankan's. In the resturants they were ALL served before paying guests as I witnessed this first hand with the Hotel Manager who dealt with a Sri Lankan day guest and totally ignored me. When I complained to him his reply was that the Sri Lankan tend to complain more and expect to be served straight away. This kayos went on for two weekends and a seperate day as it was a Sri Lanka Public holiday out there too during our stay. On the other days it was very nice and peacefull and the staff couldn't do enough for you.
There is nothing around the Hotel and not really a holiday resort at Wudduwa.
I did complain to Kuoni on my return about the locals in the Hotel and said that they should state this in their brouchures but as yet they haven't !!!
