We stayed there Christmas 2007. Hotel was very good, staff were friendly and couldnt do enough for you. Hotel was very clean, all nicely decorated and I loved the low level lighting in the bar area. The breakfast area was tastefully furnished with a very modern look. Again with the low level lighting, the breakfast area was a very nice place to start the day. Lots of choice for breakfast. The only downside to this hotel was the swimming pool and jacuzzi. Swimming pool is up on the roof and it is quite small. It gets very crowded around the pool area so you really have to be up at the crack of dawn if you want a sunbed. The way that the hotel is designed puts the swimming pool under a lot of shade half way through the day so if you have had a morning out sightseeing and you want to come back for a swim and some sunshine you wont get it at the pool. The jacuzzi is also filled with cold water which was a shock as I have always been used to hot jacuzzis. This is also under cover so the sun doesnt even get to warm it up a bit. On the plus side, there is a roof sunbathing area which is great for sunning yourself, but if you get hot you cant cool off unless you go downstairs to the swimming pool. They should install a couple of open air showers to allow yourself to cool off. The other downside to this hotel is that although it is placed on a very busy road (which you dont mind and you get used to) it is very difficult for cars and taxis to get to without going round a complete circle because of the main road being one way. When traffic is bad you can expect a usual 5 minute journey from one end of Sukhumvit road to the other end where the hotel is, to take half an hour or more because of the one way system. A lot of the time, we were getting the taxis to drop us off the opposite side of the road and then walking across the road to the hotel rather than actually being dropped off at the hotel entrance. Even our hotel transfers did this and it wasnt funny trying to cross a main road during rush hour with suitcases. Apart from that everything was great and I do recommend it for location and great hospitality.
Nothing I can say apart from I love Bangkok. Have been 3 times and will go again.

We were only here for one night before flying back home. Chose the hotel based on the good reviews I'd read. The hotel lobby is very impressive and looks quite grand. The staff are very polite and professional. However, when we were shown to our room (deluxe) we were really disappointed. It reminded me of a 3* hotel room in Orlando - old fashioned, dull and in need of refurbishment to be honest. We'd requested a double bed but got two singles (we travelled in high season but not peak season). The bathroom was nothing more than ok - it needed a good scrub.
The swimming pool, however, is great. Loved it.
At the beginning of our holiday we stayed at Meritus Suites (now changed their name to Le Bua at State Tower) and that was fabulous. Very modern, so clean etc. Beautiful.

The Landmark is a fantastic hotel that I cannot fault on any level. The staff are all very friendly, it was spotlessly clean and had a very powerful shower! It also has great transport links with Nana Skytrain station right outside. There are loads of restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel, both of the pavement-side type and posher more traditional type. There is also a mini street market just over the road which sells the normal t-shirts and the like available all over Bangkok.
To get to the hotel from the airport we got the number A3 airport bus to the hotel (located right outside the terminal building), you just tell the staff at the airport which hotel you are staying at and they make sure you get off at the correct stop, not the newest buses around but can't complain for B100 each.
We only had 2 days in Bangkok but would recommend a visit to Suan Laum night market in Limpini Park which has the same goods available in Patpong and the like but everything seemed cheaper. It doesn't have quite the same atmosphere as Patpong but, as I said, good for bargains. I got some great information about Bangkok from bangkokbob net, it's worth a look.
