Would thoroughly recommend Bangkok to anyone. What a fantasic place but please beware you must be street wise and not mind the odd haggle with a tuk tuk driver or taxi driver. You can really be taken for a ride if you don't keep your wits about you but the Thai people are very caring for families at it is the centre of their society. We went as a young family and they just couldn't do enough for us and they adored our child.

The Pathumwan Princess is a fantastic hotel and we spent 6 days there in a suite. It overlooked Bangkok and it was glorious at night.

There are restaurents in the hotel but beware the cost is like living in England. Any hotel restaurant in Thailand is very expensive so be prepared to eat off street vendors and street restaurants. They are very clean and the food is delicous and without doubt at least 3 times cheaper (hotel meal up to 2500bht (£35-40) street restaurant (600-1000 bht (£10-15). In Bangkok there are Thai, Vietnamese and all cultures restaurants and they are far better on the pocket than hotel restaurants. saying that the ones in the Puthamwan are excellent even if pricey.

And the real winner here is you are right by the skytrain station for travelling and the impressive 7 storey MBK shopping centre adjoins the hotel so even the wife is guaranteed happiness!!

We would definately go again.
