We spent two nights in Bangkok visiting the Grand Palace, Floating Markets etc. To be honest it is an interesting place but two nights was about enough and we were longing for the beach. We flew onto Phuket and stayed at The Chedi Hotel. We would definitely recommend this hotel. Situated on Pansea bay (east coast), you share a beautiful private beach with another up market hotel. It was a relaxed quiet beach.
Accommodation superb, brilliant service. You stay in Bungalows on the hillside and have your own private veranda, not recommended for those with walking difficulties though.
The Chedi is in a small resort, there are a handful of good restaurants serving seafood etc and a couple of bars, but for nightlife you do need to get a Tuk Tuk. Patong is about 20 min drive down the coast. This resort is a real get away from it place!
I would recommend that you hire some transport to see the island, there are some fantastic beaches along the east coast.
Weather very good, hot and sunny, there were things in the sea that stung you from time to time- not very bad but you could feel them (apparently common for this time of year.)
Definitely take enough money with you to do all the excursions, a must! It is a beautiful place.
In summary, I would say my favorite holiday so far.
