Kata Beach in Phuket is lovely. The local people are great and make you so welcome. Apparently since the Tsunami there are less Thai people in business for themselves and more Indian people, they are a bit of a hassle as they won't leave you alone. While in Kata we went to Wat Chalong, which is a temple and well worth seeing. While in Kata we ate a lot of nights down on the beach front at the last restuarant coming from Kata or the first coming from Karon Beach. The food was excellent. If you eat there please say hi to Noi for me, she is a lovely wee Thai lassie who will make you feel very welcome. The bar next door belongs to Kiat, say hi to him as well please. He makes great cocktails or fruit shakes.
We went to Thailand for 4 weeks and had intended travelling around but we found Kata and stayed there for 3 weeks and we shall go back next year, we have already checked out flights. All in all we can do nothing but praise the Thail people. Peach Hill Hotel is great. We stayed in their standard rooms at the bottom and they were fine and not expensive. This is the only time I have ever went overseas and came back with money! It is so cheap it is hard to spend money!I hope that you enjoy Thailand as much as we di. I am very sure that I shall return again in 07, possibly twice!

We arrived at Peach Hill late at night after a lovely stay in the Novotel Siam Sq, Bangkok. We had booked independantly a Standard Room which I knew was at the bottom of the hill.
Firstly this is one hell of a hill. It is all steps. The Standard Room are at the bottom very close to the town (in fact the lead onto the main road between Kata and Karon). The breakfast buffet is most of the way up the hill and at the top of the hill is reception and deluxe rooms.
There are 3 swimming pools - a very small one at the bottom by the standard rooms. An adequate one by the breakfast buffet building and a large pool by the main reception building. We could always get a sunbed by the pool.
The standard rooms were very basic and the standard room block looked like a prison. Also our AirCon unit was very noisy (like sleeping next to an industrial fridge) On our second day we requested a room upgrade and were shown a Junior Suite (which was in the main block) and a Bungalow. The Bungalows are right by the breakfast building so ideally located. You are close from breakfast, close to the pool and close to town (although far enough away from the noise if you want an early night). We went for the bungalow and it was excellent. Huge bed, bath, minibar, balcony, quiet aircon.
Staff were extrememly helpful and once the language gaps are bridged the people cannot do enough to help. Food is reasonably priced too.
The resort is nice. 3 nice beaches, adequate shops, a good range or resturants (Try the Boathouse and Mama Tri's Kitchen for superb dining).
If you are planning on staying at this resort then I would book independantly and call them direct to get a good bungalow price. We negotiated on their price and got them down by about £5 per night.
