Arriving in Koh Samui the weather was beautiful and the island looked gorgeous. We had flown in from Bangkok and the service was fantastic from start to finish. Samui itself is brilliant however the area that the Central Samui Village was in had nothing really to do. It was very quiet and the nearest town was Lamai which was a good 15 minute drive. Apart from that the hotel was gorgeous, the perfect retreat if you are looking for somewhere quiet, tropical and relaxing. Right on the beach and with 3 swimming pools this is a really nice, good value hotel and the service was great.

The hotel was lovely, but the location is in the middle of nowhere. We had to rely on the hotels courtesy bus to Lamai and Chaweng which only leaves at 9.30, 12.30, 5.00, 7.00 and 9.00. The last bus back from Chaweng is 9.45pm. The hotel bus got very busy and you had to book at least 2 days in advance to secure your seat.
Chaweng is brilliant, loads of restaurants, bars and shops. Good places to eat are The Islander and a good cheap place to drink is the Magic Light Bar, only 30Bhts for beer!!
Lamai is smaller than Chaweng and more friendly. A good place to eat is the Bauhaus Club (try the green lipped mussels for a starter, lovely).

If you want a tattoo, Tam Tattoo in Lamai is the best. My husband had an amazing freehand tattoo done at half the price it would cost in England.

Koh Tau and Koh Lanta are the best places for snorkelling, beautiful clear water and amazing fish.

Would go to Koh Samui again, but would not stay in the hotel again as the location was too far out. Would probably stay at the Central Samui Beach Resort (sister hotel) in Chaweng if I went again.
