There is no viewpoint, the rooms are dark & dismal AND the shower smell was so awful we left after one night. The entrance to the resort also had a bad smell, the cost at 2200bht per night was not cheap. AVOID ¢THAI-TOUR.com¢ they agreed to refund 6,600bht but it has not arrived, and our room was re-let the same day we left so there is no reason NOT to refund.

TonSai Beach is next to Railey Beach in Krabi, Thailand on the Phrang Nga peninsula. Tonsai is unspoilt by tourists as whilst it is still part of the Krabi mainland, it offers unprecedented remoteness as it is only accessible by boat. This is due to the limestone cliffs that encapsulate the whole area. Rock climbers paradise! They don't even have mains electricity over here yet and use generators Plenty of rock climbing schools offering instruction and there are also other activities around TonSai.

Country Side resort is situated just off the main crescent road, just up the hill by Wee's Climbing school. As it is up the hill it offers stunning views of the local crags and is very quiet. Great rooms for an unbelievable price, I paid just 500 baht a night in April 08, that is about £8 or 4 USD. The rooms are very spacious with your own bathroom with flushing toilet. Beautiful views from the balcony which is also great for relaxing.

The resort is undergoing a bit of a overhaul and one guy I spoke to there said the restaurant and bar will reopen for the next season so prices may go up! The place also has a shop and Internet access. Was also told they offer free WiFi for guests with laptops?

I hope TonSai doesn't go too commercial as I just love the place and am going back next year.

Our second holiday here and the minute we arrived we felt as if we had never been away.
The setting here is stunning, limestone cliffs, three beaches (one of the best in the world) and beautiful gardens.
No 'rooms' only individual villas with everything you need to enjoy your stay.
Four restaurants all serving superb food in equally superb settings. The service here is some of the best we ever have had, especially from Sayan in the breakfast room. (A smashing character who truly wants to make your stay special).
The pool is enormous with a jacussi and shallow part for relaxing in.
Along Raitalay beach there are some shops and another couple of places to eat, Coco Lobo's being the best and a great place to watch the comings and goings on the beach.
It is difficult to explain just how wonderful this place is - if you can,go and find out for yourself, its like 'Fantasy Island!'

We stayed either end of the holiday at the Royalk Orchid Sheraton in Bangkok, we have been there before and know what to expect etc and it was as we hoped. We stayed in the Tower rooms which allowed us free washing up to 6 items each per day, breakfast and evening cocktails.

This was our first time at the Sheraton in Krabi and there were some good things and some not so good (a lot depends on what you want I guess)

On the plus side the hotel room we had was light and airy, cleaned everyday and relatively quiet. You could sit on the balcony in the late afternoon and all you could hear were the birds. The staff were friendly and were only too willing to try and help, especially when our air con sprung a leak at 11pm! There was a pool and the hotel is on the beach, though to get to both it is a long trek from the rooms. The sea is nice and warm and you can book sailing trips, or long tail boat rides and power boat trips from the beach. The hotel also runs shuttle busses to Ao Nang and Krabi. You need to book them and they go at various times and pick up in the evening. Ao Nang is the closest and it costs 200 bhat return trip per person. To be honest we didnt think much to Ao Nang it is like a lot of other places in Thailand, cheap bar/cafes backpackers and lots of tailors. However there are some nice restaurants that face onto the beach and if you get there early enough you can eatyour dinner watching the sun go down.

Outside the hotel there are some restaurants and a couple of bars. The Terrace is right opposite and does lovely food, but beware it is busy and by 7.30 it can be hard to get a table. We saw loads being turned away. There is a bar called Bamboo, does some really nice cocktails and lunch type food and rather cheaply too. There are the usual collection of mini marts and laundry, massage tailors and tour operators all nearby. In Kluong Moung Plaza there is a laundry that will do your washing and ironing for less than a pound a kilo, and it was done very well.

This leads me onto what isnt so good about this place. The hotel is expensive to drink in, for example a Singa beer in Martinis cost about 230 baht, yet in Bamboo it cost 60. Its the same with food, laundry etc it is all cheaper outside with the exception of the trip to Ao Nang a taxi will cost 400 baht one way. Although many people must have stayed on the resort because it was full most of the time and not everyone came out. As part of our package we had breakfast at the hotel, now this was a buffet but sometimes it was so full you had to wait for a table, it sort of reminded me of old Butlins holidays. The food was ok as it goes and there is plenty to choose from.

Then there is the fun of getting a lounger round the pool, we never bothered because by the time we got to the pool about 9.30 they were all gone. Actually we preferred the beach as it was quiter as the kids in the main were around the pool. As with all things some were noisier than others so a lot depends on whether you have kids or not. On the beach it wasnt too intrusive. However there are no umbrellas on the beach, instead there are loads of trees which offer shade, but once again it does get busy and if you come late on you may find it hard to get loungers where you want them.

Overall this place was good, we had a relaxing holiday, good cheap food and wine outside and the weather was great. You can do as much or as little as you like, if like me you dive then there are plenty of dive shops and sites but they are all good.

We went to Ao Nanag, near Krabi for Easter. It was very very hot and humid. The hotel was lovely, very clean, and we had a room with wonderful sea vies (ask to get a room facing the back on 4th or 5th floor). The pool is quite small at the hotel. The beach is not very nice in Ao Nang, so you have to take a longtail boat each day to take you to one of the surrounding beaches or islands which adds quite a bit of cost to your daily budget.

Plenty to do in the area, a good holiday for active people. Go with the tour operators recommended by your travel agency, there are some not so good companies around, 'Krabi Lucky Tour' is one to be avoided! There are lots of little restaurants along the seafront atht offer good value meals.

This place is a little piece of paradise in Krabi. Very quiet and tranquil, real back to nature stuff but with first class service etc.

Set in what was once a rubber plantation with an abudance of beautiful flowers and trees. Beautiful white sand beach but need aqua shoes at low tide (coral still being washed up folllowing Tsunami), but no trouble at high tide. Two lovely places on beach for massage. Full 1 hour oil body massage 300 baht, heaven!

Several good eating places close to entrance of resort, Daddys Home being one, good food at bargain prices. Another one 200yds down beach, Ruaen Siam, again excellent food, friendly services, bargain prices.

There are two restaurants in the resort itself, although dearer than outside,
still very reasonable and good food. One restaurant is right by the beach, it is lovely.

Staff are so friendly and helpful, and always with the Thai smile. There are three swimming pools all good.

There are several standards of accommodation: Cottages, which have good size rooms and very clean, but rather small bathroom and small patio. Having said that, they are set in beautiful gardens and have there own swimming pool.

Next is standard rooms, they are of a good size, well decorated and as with everything else in the resort, spotlessly clean. Small bathrooms again, combined bath and shower and small balcony. These are close to the main building and lobby.

Next, superior rooms, these are huge with an enormous bathroom. Again, everything spotless. Nice position and small balcony/terrace.

Then comes the Villas, the room are exactly the same as the superior rooms, but with lovely terrace and wonderful roof terrace with loungers and chairs, bliss!!
This is what we stayed in, having upraded from a standard room at a very resonable price.

Also at the entrance to the resort are a couple of small shops selling foods, drinks etc plus taxi services, trip booking (cheaper than hotel), internet access and two places for laundry. 1kg of laundry washed and ironed for 60 baht. Used this service twice, excellent results and no washing to take home!

The hotel runs a frequent free bus to and from Ao Nang (about 15 mins). This is a great place with just about anything you could want whilst on holiday, bars, clubs, tailors(my husband had a lovely suit made to measure for a silly price), restaurants, food shops, etc. Really good choice here for all sorts of trips including ferry tickets to Phi Phi, Phuket and many other places.

We took a four island trip which included, picking up from hotel and returning, trip round four islands by long tail boat, all snorkelling equipment, lunch, drinking water and fruit. Left at 9.30 returned at 4pm, all for the princely sum of about £6 each! It was a really good trip and would recommend it. You can also get a long tail boat to Railay beach for 60 baht each way.

There is a 'bus' that runs from Ao Nang to Krabi town about every 10/15 mins for 30 baht each way.

Back at the resort there is 'happy hour' between 6-7pm and 10-11pm including two cocktails for the price of one, can highly recommend them.

I could go on about this place all day, it really was lovely. We met many people who were on their 4th and 5th stays. We will most certainly be returning.

We flew Qatar Airlines to Bangkok. Great airline, never ending supply of food and drinks. The only problem was a 2 hour stop in Doha to re-fuel etc. Doha international airport has nothing to commend itself.

We stayed at the SAS Radisson hotel in Bangkok for 3 nights. This a superb hotel with luxurious rooms, a wide choice of restaurants and a wonderful 24th floor sky lounge bar that looks out over Bangkok. The staff at the hotel were some of the nicest and friendliest people I have had the pleasure to meet.
We flew Thai International from Bangkok to Krabi. Just a 1 hour hop but they still had time to serve us a hot meal. If only some British airlines were so efficient.

In Krabi we stayed at the Krabi Thai Village Resort on Ao Nang beach. What a wonderful hotel. Because it was our wedding anniversary they surprised us with a 4 poster bed with complimentary cake and fruit. What a nice touch. Transport at the resort was a breeze. Just get in a tuk tuk and the driver will take you anywhere you desire for 30 or 40 baht. Food in the resort was cheap and delicious with a wide range to choose from. Drinks were not as cheap as I had imagined but they were good value if you searched out the Happy Hour times in all of the bars. Our hotel had Happy Hour from 10pm till 1130pm, just magic for a night cap.

In both Bangkok and Krabi the excursions offered were great value for money. Tradewinds do not have their own reps but use a third party company to look after the needs of their customers. In Bangkok you must, if time allows, visit the Grand Palace, and the River Kwai bridge and floating market. Memories I will never forget. In Krabi take a speed boat to Phi Phi island, Bamboo island, Monkey island and the island made famous by Leonardo di Caprio in the film The Beach. You do it all in a day and it is just superb.

You may have already realised that we enjoyed this holiday. It was just a great, great 2 weeks. Thank you to Thailand, Thank you to Tradewinds and thank you to Holidays Uncovered for allowing me to put down my experiences.
Back to Greece this year, will let you know how we get on later.

After arriving at Krabi Airport from Bangkok, there is no other way of getting to the accommodation other than a local taxi, we were charged a fixed rate of B600 to Ao Nang. We had decided to stay on Railay Beach which also meant a longboat ride from Ao Nang beach B60 per person. Note, this does mean you will get your feet wet at both ends.

The approach to Railay is fantastic with sheer cliffs above golden sandy beaches, the trip only takes around 10 minutes. Once on Railay it is no problem finding the hotel as nowhere is more than a 5 minute walk. Sunrise Tropical is located on Railay East which is more of a working beach with longtails pulling in and out frequently, but Railey West and Ao Phra Nang are only a 5 minute walk away. It is a very good property with huge bungalows nicely situated in well kept gardens. The restaurant is also very good although a little expensive compared to most places, but breakfast was fine but nothing too special with omelettes and other Western food available along with a couple of Thai dishes. All of the staff were very friendly and were there whenever we needed anything or had any queries. The only problem I had was that I felt a little claustrophobic on Railay, especially after dark as the longtails stopped running, there were plenty of places to eat but nowhere stood out as somewhere to go back to. With hindsight I'd probably have prefered to stay in Ao Nang and visit Railay for the day.

One day we took a longtail to Krabi Town which was great, everything was so cheap but beware, the last longtail returns to Railay at dusk and they charge you for the priveledge of taking it. You are okay if there a few people waiting as they want to charge B1000 for the trip but the day we went was quite rainy and dull overhead and there were only 3 of us there, we eventually got it for B150 each as having been in Thailand for a while we were quite good a haggling by this stage but they were pretty good too!!! Would recommend a visit to Krabi Town just to get a feel for real Thailand but go a little earlier in the day and don't get the last longtail back.

Also took a trip sea kayaking to Ao Thalin (not sure of the spelling). This was a good trip and not too tough on the arms as it was around mangroves with just a little bit actually in the open sea. One tip here is to wear plenty of insect repellant, obvious I know but we forgot...and paid the price that evening!!!

I went to Thailand for the first time in Oct of last year, what a place I loved it.
We booked through THG holidays they were so helpful and we upgraded hotels changed flights and everything and they were great.

We flew Thai air which I would highly recommend as you get 34inched legroom and you really feel the difference after a long flight,we also flew at 9.40pm which was excellent you get on eat, sleep have breakfast then you land in Bankgok after doing years of the horrid America day time flight i will now always request to fly night. We stayed in the Raddisson in Bangkok its a lovley hotel and we got a free upgrade to a suite which was lovley.

We went to Lampini night bazare, the kings palace and MBK shopping which is great if you like your fake Diesel.
I had a beautifal chinese style top made it fits like a glove and better quality than you ever get here, the shop was called James Design and looked like a Bond street shop from outside.

After 2 days we flew to Krabi and stayed at the Thai village resort it has a swim up bar a spa and 2 restaraunts its beautiful but eating in the hotel is not that cheap so go into the town,we found a indian restaraunt down a side road and had a 4course meal and drinks for £12 and it was the best indian I have tasted, definitley go by speedboat to the islands,Kodo,Chicken<bamboo and Phi Phidont take the long tail as it takes ages and you dont see half as much.

Go Elephant Trekking but take an umbrella as if it rains you will get soaked, and a must do is go visit the Hot springs its lovley make sure to pack your swimmie and then go to tiger cave temple to see the monks.I loved Thailand I want to go back to Bangkok to do the floating markets and patpong we only had 2days there I wish we had stayed 4,now I want to go to Ko Samui or Trang I hear Ko Samui is much hotter with less rain than Krabi in September so hopefully if I save the pennies I may make it there yet.

Travelmood and Thg holidays by far have the best deals so give them a go if you are considering going I spent 3 weeks on the internet ,travel agents ,and phoning these 2 companies have excellent customer service and the prices are hard to beat we stayed at two 4-5* hotels flew Thai air direct were away for 15nights and inc insurance paid £1800 for 2 adults, and with the free upgrades in both hotels to suites with dressing and living rooms ect it was worth every penny.
