Imperial Mae Ping Chang Reviews

Overall a fantastic holiday. The Shangri- La and Sheraton Krabi hotels were 1st class, the Imperial in Chang Mai was not quite the same standard but the staff were friendly and polite and it was an excellent city centre base for 3 days in Chang Mai.

Moving down the Krabi, this is a very luxurious hotel set on its own beautifull beach. Quite expensive to eat there so we went to Aou Nang a few times where you will find lots of restaurants and a few decent bars for a few beers.

We have flown economy class with a number of other carriers- Emirates, Singapore airlines , BA and last year a couple of small domestic carriers in India and all were friendly , polite and courteous. NOT THAI!!!! They literally threw the food at you, they kept running out of a choice of meal, only ONE bar service on a 12 hour flight (if you wanted another drink you had to get it yourself from the galley). They were in such a rush they missed people out alltogether!They barked- 'Drink from thr bar' , 'Chicken or Beef'- never 'would you like......sir/ madam. I dont think a single member of the cabin crew ever smiled at anyone and their idea of a glass of wine with dinner is a 'splash' in the botton of a tumbler!!It was totally appaling. On the return journey the cabin was so cold i resorted to putting my feet inside the plastic bags the blankets came in as i had lost feeling in them!

Thai were just as bad during our internal flights. My partner is allergic to shellfish so when he asked for an alternative lunch on the flight to Chang Mai,was basically told off for not advising the airline and handed the alternative- a packet of nuts !!WE managed on a couple of our internal flights to pay for a standby upgrade to Business class and although more roomy the service here was nothing to write home about. I can honestly say THAI give a new meaning to the phrase 'cattle class' and we will NEVER fly with them again. WE have flown long hall on charters before (Monarch / First Choice) and their service and courtesey was far superior to Thai.
Hope this review prevents others from suffering such appaling treatment- I believe EVA Air are very good- We will certainly use them for any future trips to Thailand.
