I am going to struggle to keep the kids happy anywhere else. Best service and staff attitude I have ever encountered.

We did go out into Pattaya main centre probably 8 nights out of our 11 night stay. The first night I did get a shock as the prostitution is very in your face. Young girls picking up old/young men (mostly old grandads with knee length white socks and varicose veins - urghhh!). It is an eye opener, I must have led a sheltered life because I didnt really realise it was this way in Thailand. Nobody warned me. I must have sat the first night with my eyes on storks cos I couldnt believe what I was seeing. Gorgeous young 16 year old girls but I accepted this was their way of life and this is just how it is. Once I got used to that, I used to love going down the main street. The Thai people are the most friendly people you will ever meet and go way out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your holiday. The bars and restaurants are lovely and the food is divine. We went to a lovely American style Steak House which was very near Dusit Resort, if you come out hotel, turn right and walk to end of the road where you meet the beach and its on the left. There is an Italian near the steak house (cant remember name) - was very over priced with minuscule portions, wouldnt recommend. There is a German restaurant along main street called Hofmeister or something, is a bar/restaurant, food is the best we ate there. Theres a nice restaurant called Lobster Pot too near Walking Street. Go up Walking Street, its where EVERYTHING goes on, there are some good bars, its not frightning at all.

We had a fabulous time at our stay in Dusit resort, pattaya. The hotel is gorgeous. Has a fab reception with a huge clockdial in marble in the centre of the hotel lobby area, its impressive. There are tree's, plants and little waterfall in reception also and its so pretty. There are loads of lovely flowers and lights around the garden areas. The pool area is clean and had plenty of loungers when we were there, the staff used to come round on roller blades offering you drink and food. We had lunch a couple of times in the restaurant and werent disappointed. We went to the Chinese in the hotel 3 times, although a bit more pricey than the main street in Pattaya, it was well worth it as the food was divine and the staff are lovely. The bar in the hotel is pleasant and we visited there everynight before and after our meals whether we ate in the hotel or out. There was a band playing (cant remember if it was every night), they were very good, easy listening relaxing music and always did requests for you. Cocktails were yummy too.
Hotel rooms were clean and well maintained. Room service came every day and even came to turn your bed down at night and leave a chocolate on your pillow. You had 2 bottles of water put in your fridge every day free of charge.
Reception staff helpful and we changed our travellers cheques there no problem.
Would definitely visit this hotel again.
We all had a wonderful time, definately go again.

Pattaya is classed as the seediest part of Thailand, don't believe it, we are going back for the 4th time in June 2008.

My Husband and I have just honeymooned in Pattaya, Thailand at the Dusit Resort Hotel and have to say we have had an absolutely wonderful time. I heavily rely on other peoples reviews when I want to book holidays so I want to give as much helpful info as possible.
The Dusit is wonderful. Not cheap to eat or drink in but high quality. Rooms are a bit dated as others have said but a very good size, clean, good bathrooms and towels / drinking water and toiletries are changed daily (even toothbrushes) and they bring fresh fruit to your room daily (even leaving a flower on your pillow). We had a superior sea view room and it was quite a view. TV's have 3 movies channels so you can usually find a film to watch if you want a night in. Quite reasonable room service if you come in, as we did at 1:30 in the morning, with the munchies.
You may have heard there is building works on at the moment. They will not affect your holiday and are not that bad at all. Do use it as an excuse to ask for a room upgrade or something as we did. Honeymooners get a bottle of champagne on arrival too! Staff are amazingly friendly there, as is true all over the resort.
They have a big pool and the lagoon pool and they supply you with 2 towels at poolside, one for you and one to lie on. The Dusit is up the quiet end of Pattaya beach so you can avoid the going's on of walking street (go go bars) if you want.
All write up's of Pattaya will go on about the lady boys and the thai girl go go bars. Go with an open mind as Thailand does manage these industries very well and you will not feel threatened or bothered by it at all. On the contrary it is an interesting culture to see. Husbands and partner will not be approached (unless they have left the other half at home!). It takes awhile to get used to bartering and they will try it on.
There is much advice I could give but the best is talk to other holidayers when you're there. We got so much advice passed on by those that had been there a week already and everyone is so friendly. Don't let the Baht buses rip you off. 10baht (about 8p) per person is all they charge. When you hail one just jump straight on the back and ring the bell when you're ready to get off. Give them the 10 baht or 20 if you feel you've gone quite a way and leave. The minute you negotiate with the driver they see you coming and rip you off! Be firm in shops as well as they will ask for outrageous prices at first. Stick to your guns and ask for a fair price. Walking away if you're not happy is always a good way of forcing them to accept your price.
There are many good day trips. About 3 different ways to see and ride elephants. We recommend going to Non Nooch village as you get to see many other things as well as ride an elephant and see an elephant show, like hold a tiger cub and have a photo with an orang-utan. Bangkok day out is fab too.long boat up the Bangkok river.
Thai people are great but the Indian's along the front selling custom made suits get in your face a bit. They'll try to shake your hand but tell them you're not interested and walk on. We were told the cheap custom suits were bad quality so be careful, if you want one made, find a good place. We can recommend Paul's on 2nd street.
I could say so much more but just go, have a great time and make friends, the rest will become obvious! (by the way in May it never goes under about 34 degrees even in the evening so that Dusit air conditioning was excellent)

Pattaya is very different to both places. It is very built up. More so then we expected. However although it is very sleazy with lots of working girls, we had a fantastic holiday. This is not a family destination. We are all old codgers but even we had an education, and saw things we had never seen before. But it did cause many laughs. The People are fantastic, the food wonderful with resturants cater for every taste. Very cheap. The Dusit is lovely, rooms large and clean. The staff are fantastic and soon get to know you. If you are open minded, not easily shocked then go. I can't say we would go back but we seldom do as there is a huge world out there but we met people who had returned to the Dusit for many years.

The hotel is the best in pattaya for the price (only £17per night in a Delux room, standard are cheaper and just a big and clean) the staff are very friendly and are always there to help if you need it. Nancy the hotel manager is great and she speaks excellent english. the hotel is 2mins walk to the beach and is central to all of pattaya.the pools to the hotel are excellent and there are lots of sunbeds and the hotel provide the towels so no need to pack them save baggage allowance for lots of shopping and bargins. if you like sport then a bar across the road called the premiership bar is very good and the staff in there are very friendly too. Sum Yung and Steve are the owners and are great fun. Mike shopping mall is just a 1min walk at the bottom of soi Dianna it is worth a look in but to reaaly grab a bargin go to soi bickow market on a tuesday and friday be ready to barter though.
I would recommend this hotel to all travellers to pattaya and i can bet it would be a great holiday for you. just say hello to Nancy, Meaw, Nee and Aon
ENJOY

We booked in July and although considered out of season the weather was lovely and we never had any rain the whole time we were there. Tradewinds provided us with a longhaul holiday at a 5 star hotel and spa with free breakfasts and several meals included in the price at the same price as a holiday to Spain.
We flew with Qatar and even though in economy class we were given free drinks, a menu, blankets, goody packs and excellent in-flight entertainment.
The hotel itself was immaculate with gorgeous interiors in a mix of traditional and contemporary design. The staff couldn't be more helpful and small things such as maid service every day, bed refreshing and lilies in the afternoon all added that special touch. There are activites such as yoga and the morning session of water aerobics which can be rather hilarious to watch. There is a small private beach which is free from people selling goods but along from this you can buys things as well as get a massage, I got one that lasted about 2 hours and cost around £3.
The Aisawan itself is situated away from the hustle and bustle of the centre and this is a welcome relief, whilst Pattaya itself does indeed have what some may describe a 'seedy' element this can only be expected and I find it quite suprising that some people choose to go to Pattaya and then comment on this. We became quite friendly with some of the girls who worked in a bar and found them to be nothing but friendly and very kind. It is also worth bearing in mind that many of the girls who do work in the bars are from outside the towns and have to come in to provide money for families (nearly all employment is in agriculture and if crops fail then families are left hungry)
Pattaya itself is simliar to many large holiday resorts in Europe and in order to see the culture of Thailand you must venture out. We explored some for the beautiful islands (boat from the harbour takes you there for a mere 20 baht) and went on a tour up North which worked about at around £50 for 3 days including meals and accommodation. There is also Nongnooch Botanical gardens which are beautiful and many religious temples, gardens and markets. It is defintely worth getting yourself a regular taxi driver as they are so cheap, we had the wonderful Mr Too who has also become a friend and a journey that costs around £40-£60 in Britain can only cost aroud £10. Furthermore everything is riduculously cheap and after eating out every night doing lots of trips and buying many gifts clothes we still had money left. On that note what we did notice were tourists moaning if a tuk-tuk journey cost more for them than it did for locals or moaning about the cost at all, remember these people live on much less than we do so save yourselves the embarrasment and just pay the tiny fare that the driver asks.
All in all I can honestly say that the Thai people are the friendliest I have ever met and I will definitely return.

we stayed at the hard rock hotel in pattaya, the pool staff never smiled once,we caught the girl in the kids club pulling our litle girls arm with full force when we complained nothing was done, the manager around the pool area wanted money all the time from tourists,we were very disapointed with the hard rock,we did see street girls hanging around the resort, for a family hotel we couldn't believe it,however the pool area was very nice, this hotel is singapore run not american so we know now why the satandads are low,the managment for this hotel has alot to be desired for,one thing for sure the hotel staff are left to run a mock.
