Angus O'tools Guesthouse Reviews

Have just returned from a fantastic holiday at Karon Beach, Phuket. This is the second year we travelled to Thailand and were not disappointed. This year we decided to do all the travel arrangements ourselves rather than through an operator and it could not have been easier. We travelled with Etihad Airlines, flying to Abu Dhabi, Bangkok and then on to Phuket. They were first class. Plenty of leg room, excellent food and the airline staff could not do enough for you.

We stayed at Angus O'Tools Guesthouse which cost 1400 bhat per night per room (approx £20 - what fantastic value for money - particularly over the xmas period) the rooms were spacious, with DVD, TV, CD, mini fridge, safe in room, king size bed and was absolutely spotless, cleaned every single day with clean towels and bedding. O'Tools is a must it is ideally located in Karon Beach, near to the many bars and restaurants - even if you don't stay you must try the breakfasts in the morning. The staff are fantastic and speak good english. It is also the place to go for sporting events.

Maurice Devenney who runs the place cannot do enough for you, if you want golf - Maurice will arrange it for you - if you want help in booking rooms in other resorts, again Maurice will help. I have no hesitation in recommending O'Tools for friendliness, cleanliness, excellent food and great location.

Karon Beach itself is fantastic - the beaches are spectacular with ";squeaky"; sand - the sea is turquoise and warm and welcoming - very safe for swimming although at times the current can tend to be a little strong. Sunbeds and umbrella cost 200 bhats for two people (approx £3). You can also hire long boats for the day and they will take you to other beaches along the coastline. Although you can walk to Kata the next resort which will take about 15-20 mins. Particularly nice after a good evening meal - all restaurants in karon are fantastic - quite varied menus and clean.

All in all a fantastic holiday and will certainly be going back to Karon again.
