We never left the holiday village, we never had too! to be fair outside of the hotel didn't look the best and everything that interested us as a family was catered for by the hotel, so unfortunately i can't really comment on Hammamet as a resort sorry

The port had a very nice restaurant we went to every night as the hotel we stayed in was horrendous. However we had already paid for our meals all inclusive and feel paying twice is terrible.

Hammamet review

"Lovely Resort"

As we were all inclusive in a holiday village, we never ate out anywhere, and to be honest in this area there wasn't really anywhere to go. A few nice cafes noticed whilst we were out of the resort. The beach was lovely, very clear sea and tidy beach. Few excursions available although we never did any as only there a week. If you are looking to just go to a resort and not see any of the country then this is your place, Tunisia looks lovely and we would go back, but this hotel does sit out of the way and there isn't anything around it of any interest really. A bonus was that the local market came into the hotel every Monday and it had its own spa/hairdresser and little shop on site.

Port El Kantaoui review

"The place to eat"

69%

The marina offers a selection of good to very good restaurants the best in my opinion is "Le Derade" excellent food, wine and service more so if you are a fish lover, Le Derade is very good value for money, there are plenty of other restaurants offering everything from pizza to full blown 3/4 course al a cart menus, there is a selection of the normal souvenir shops that offer all the normal goods from a stuffed camel to a tagine, there can be a little pressure to "have a drink in my restaurant" or "have a look in my shop" but polite refusal usually works, some of the restaurants do not sell alcoholic drinks but still offer beer etc they do not state non alcoholic beer but this normal in any Tunisian resort simply ask if it is alcoholic and check the label, normally it is advertised somewhere on the menu. All in all Port El Kantoui is a lovely place to visit for all.

The beach was a let down very untidy an a lot of rubbish is a shame because the sea an beach could be lovely if it was maintained a bit better.

Sousse review

"Sousse / Port el kantaoui"

We only stepped outside the hotel grounds twice - once to Sousse where the markets were (dirty and crowded with lots of hassle) or the fixed-price shops (excellent) - and then a couple of visits to Port El Kantaoui which was much much nicer with a marina, fun fair, shops and clean streets (a purpose-built resort area) The Hotel was mid-way between the two and right on the beach. The main road between Sousse and PEK was nothing special - a few large stores and cafes, ice-cream parlours etc but not like a typical European resort. Again, taxis are cheap so there isn't much need to stay on this road - also, a "noddy train" would run between Sousse and PEK every 20 minutes or so.

Shopping was good but be prepared to be hassled BIG TIME! Bartering is a must and I actually got really good at it. If you stick to the fixed price shops you're ok. If you go to other shops they will not leave you alone and will even chase you down the road! However, most of the people are friendly and willing to help. There are plenty of taxis to get you around if its too hot to walk.

The resort had a lovely view of the most gorgeous scenery. The beaches was stunning and was a great place to have some extra sun! The cost of food and drinks were at its reasonable price so it was very good. The nightlife is very interesting and the things to see and do was the best experience. It will all be unforgettable.
