The cleanliness of the hotel & attention to detail was was second to non. The staff were exceptionally friendly & despite being a prodominantley Germanic speaking hotel they made every effort to speak English. we expected to be in the minority as English guessed but were never made to feel out of place or uncomfotable. Having read reviews that said sunbed were hard to get I can only imagine that it was in 1 particular place they wanted to sit as there were ample sunbeds dotted all round the extensive grounds of the hotel. The food was excellent. the childrens faciliets catered for everyone & the once a week show put on by the children was lovely with the hotel supplying all the costumes & make up. Computers, X boxes Wifii & watersports were all inclusive as well as a pool attendant who job it seemed to be to play with the children & adults in the water slide pool. All in all we would go back to this hotel.

When we arrived at the Africana, we were met with the Magic Life music. Our cases and bags were taken tour rooms as we were checking in at reception. We were given a welcome cocktail as we were checking in.

There is the main buffet restaurant, which had various theme nights. Our favourite was the Chinese night. There is also a Seafood, Italian, South American and Lebanese REstaurants. You had to book these restaurants a day in advance, as they were very popular. The best advive I could give anyone going to the Africana or any other All Inclusive, is to tip the bar staff and the waiters in the restaurants. I reckon 95% of the tourists who visit these hotels do not tip. Therefore, if the remaining 5% of us tip, we get even better servive. I would say that the staff in the Africana gave us the best service we have ever had, anywhere. They simply could not do enough for us. When we went to the Italian restaurant for the 2nd time, our table was strewn with rose petals, our wine, water and coke for the boys, was already on our table. I have to say that no other table in the restaurant was dressed like ours. Was it a coincidence? I doubt it.

The animation team were kept busy, Tried to involve as many people as possible. They put a show on every night. We only went to a couple of the shows, but they were well attended and quite good.
The pool area was well kept. My only gripe about this hotel was the sun loungers. If you went down at 10am, you were spending your day at the beach, as there was no loungers around the pool. They were all reserved. It got to the stage where John and I took turns at getting up at 6am to reserve our loungers. As I said, if you did n't do it, you were not going to be spending your day by the pool.

We went on 2 excursions. One was the pirate ship cruise. It was ok. It was good to dive off the ship into the crystal clear sea.

Our other excursion was a whole day to EL Jem and Port El Kantou. In the morning we went to El Jem, the Roman amphitheatre was very interesting and worth a visit. However, Port El Kantou was a waste of time. In our opinion, the time would have been better spent going to the Medina in Sousse, as we were in Sousse for lunch.
After we came home that day, we went to the Medina in Hammamet. I thought it was brilliant. The traders were a good laugh, if you did n't take them too seriously.

The 4 boys went golfing, firstly to the Yasmine course and then the Citrus courses. Absolutely brilliant. The earlier you tee off the better though. We made the mistake of teeing off at 10am on our first visit. Too hot! Next time 8am. That last hour was torture. I think if I ever go back, we will tee off before 7am.
While we were golfing, the girls spent there time in the spa in the hotel. I think they paid 170 Tunisian Dinars for 6 massages. That works out at £12 per massage. The girls were in each session for 45 mins. They said it was good as anything they had had in the UK, if not better.

Just to finish off. We all found the Tunisian people the friendliest we've ever encountered. The service was the best we've came across so far. The food was first class. I think we will definately be back, maybe even a wee winter week this year.

I have been to Hammamet many times, but this was the first time I have stayed in Magic Life Manar. It was brilliant. The hotel was clean and tidy. The room was very nice, all carpeted which makes a change from the normal marble floors you get in most Tunisian hotels. The rooms were cleaned everyday with new linin and towels everyday. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for their guests. I especially liked MOHAMMED the 'Pool Man' who was always their with a smile and a english catch pharse to brighten up the overcast days (TOP BANANA / DIAMOND GEZZA). The food was brilliant with a wide choice of resturants (Italian, French, Fish, Mexican and the main resturant) The Bar was good with a wide choice of drinks that have been locally produced. If you go you must try Bouka (Fig Liqure) its rank!!!!! The Hotel is a five star Tunisian rated hotel, and I think as far as Tunisian hotels go it really is a five star, but for us Brits who are probably used to a bit more I would say this would be a 4 star. Overall myself and my family all had a brilliant holiday, so much so that we are going back to Magic Life Manar in August 2003.
