we are a young couple and had our first holiday together in djerba.after speaking with other english holiday makers some good some bad reviews, the bad most of which had never been out of complex!!! good or bad we rented scooters and did a tour of the island even went across the border bridge to tunisia with a good map there is planty to do we passed lots of small towns and villages where the locals were very very friendly.
off the tourist route food etc is very cheap so i would say get out there and do your own thing, come the end of the eek many did not know of even nightclubs and places to eat out of hotel which were only ten min walk awy, the brasserie a la carte is good and caters for all tastes (but ask for steak very very well done if u dont like blood!!! lol) ten min from hotel is la pacha nightclub which would stand up to anything in uk. taxi rides are v.cheap not ot missed is the buggy ride just dont get stuck behinb slowww driver!!! and take camera for the fantastic sunset behind the 350yr old mosque. castaway is a good day out but v.long good for sunbathers and marine lovers as the dolphins come close to the boat and give good pic opps. must admit would have been nice if we had dropped anchor to swim in sea very busy trip so book early.
hotel staff very friendly went out of their way to do wahtever they could. swat uo on your french as everybody speaks it but most do know good english.
beach was one of the best ive known lots of watersports because when we had the scooters we visited various hotels and beaches and they were v.poor and smelly we definately had the best beach on the island. to sum up prob the only place that i could say i would like to go back to lo9ts to do couldnt it in a week dont be scared just get out there and do your own thing taxis would be cheaper that scooters.
dont listen to the poor reviews based on this hotel it was the best holiday yet.
just dont expect the ritz!!! although very comfortable
(not to missed new new nightclub by the beach!! but get there 11.30-12.00 thats when it starts to buzz)
i would just say go there and make up your own mind!!!
