Riu El Kebir was superb and the jewel in the crown of this hotel has to be the Animation Team. By day they are fun and sporty and by night they are seductive talented dancers and you can’t help but be impressed by some of their performances. Speak nicely to Zizou and he'll even teach you a few moves during the day so you can try them out at night!
All the team are excellent with the kids – who just seem to flock towards them day and night. Where they get their endless energy from no-one knows - they just never seem to stop. Christiano is even known to help build sandcastles and perform a few somersaults on the beach at midnight!
But if you don't want to be constantly entertained or joining in during the day then it’s not a problem. There are plenty of places (e.g. the quiet pool) where you can just chill (or bake as the case may be).
At 10pm every night its "SHOW TIME!". Now we might not be talking West End or Broadway here so manage your expectations - but they are good given the venue and facilities available. The shows not to miss are African Night (“In the jungle the mighty jungle….”) and Dancing From Around the World. Zizou is clearly the leader on stage and we suspect he’s destined for greater things with dance moves like that… maybe West End will feature after all!
The show to miss is Harlem Nights - very disappointing (especially as it was our last night) with some very cheesy miming by a less talented member of the management team and not enough dancing from the more gifted younger dancers. We recommend a trip to Jasmine Hammamet Medina and Marina on this night, which is a short taxi ride (10 mins) and a complete contrast to the area surrounding the Riu El Kebir.
The buffet food is extensive in variety and you probably wont like everything – but you will always find something. The food ranges from soups, salads, large choice of vegetables, local cuisine and different roasts every night.
Top Tip1: The air conditioning in the room will only work if the patio door is slammed shut. TOP TIP2: Don't change your money at the hotel - the exchange rate was pretty poor. Change at airport before the transfer. TOP TIP3: If you go down to the pool to reserve a bed at 7.30 they will already have been reserved by the pool attendant (even though hotel rules state this is not permitted). Either go down before 6.30 or cross his palm with a few Tunisian Dinar and he'll sort you out!
We didn't venture out from the hotel much other than to Jasmine Hammamet but then the hotel has so much to offer - there really isn't the need to venture too far.
The beach was exquisite - even nicer than beaches in either Jamaica or Dom Rep. Coudn't...

hotel riu el kebir hammamet is a lovely hotel, with very welcoming staff who can not do enough for you.they are very hard working in maintaining extremely high standards thoughout the hotel.the hotel is situated right on the beach, which is golden sand and kept very clean, and the hotel provides sun loungers with sun shade parrasols for there guests.we were on a all inclusive package holiday, which was very good value indeed.all food and beveridges included.i found the room very spacious for our needs with air conditioning and two balconys and sea views out across the med.the only critisism i have is the beds were very hard to sleep on,a softer mattress and pillows would have made my stay more comfortable.
the hotel has many facilitys ie fittness room, hairdresser, massage and beauty, lounge areas, bars etc.you will be hard pressed to find any faults with this hotel.the resort of hammamet though was a slight disappointment outside of the hotel,as it's appearance is a little run down and tired looking, but don't let this put you off.
finaly i would recommend this hotel for a holiday if only for a one week stay and some relaxation in the sunshine.

the hotel was very good the food varied and plentiful, and the staff excellent. They could'nt do enough for you. don't go on the organised excursions, they are expensive and give very little time in any visit, we used the localyellow taxi's and a trip to the market and back cost a total ofsix pounds and all the time we wanted to look around, as opposed to fifteen pounds per person, which would have been a total of sixty pounds for the 4 of us. Be sure to ask the driver to put the meter on, though most do anyway. If you don't want to be hassled by shops just say no thank you and you are left alone, they are a very friendly country. you can only expect the same treatment back as you give out.
All in all a good holiday and we would and in fact are going back as our first visit was so good.

We were taken to our rooms which were large and spotlessly clean with a fantastic view of the pool and the sea.We went straight down to lunch which was wonderful with so much choice i can't imagine anyone could complain, you can sit where you like for breakfast and lunch but in the evening you are given a table which you keep for your whole stay which makes things a lot easier no rushing to get a table together and you get to now your waiter. The staff were all friendly and very helpful, we asked for extra pillows which were put in our room before we even left reception. The pool and grounds are beautiful and are constantly being cleaned. There are plenty of sun loungers round the pool and on the beach and you are given a ticket for free pool towels which is very handy. We also tryed the hotel spa centre we booked for a two and a half hour session which included massage turkish bath and water thearapies which we really needed and enjoyed after coming back from two hours of quad biking. We also went on a camel trek which was brilliant and the guide was so friendly and helpful and we saw some lovely scenery. We went out to hammemet yasmin and did some haggling for our gifts which is a lovely place to sit and have some lunch and we had a quick visit to the marina.
All in all this hotel was fantasic and i would recommend it to any one there is evening entertainment that gave us a few laughs, the boys from the entertainment team work really hard all day long to make sure you have a great holiday. We would all go back to this beautiful hotel.

Hello we went to this hotel in november 5/12th 2006 for as it is a short flight from the uk and we were not disapointed in the least as soon as you arrive (we arrived at about 2.30 in the afternoon)you are given a wrist band to show that you are all-inclusive and told to go down to the dining room for your lunch
upon doing so the food was very well presented with a lot of choices. As i am a very fussy eater when ever i go abroad no matter what country i live on chips and soup for the duration but the food in this hotel was as you have probibly read on other reviews was excellent and i had no bother eating some of their meals that was on offer.
Moving on to the rooms they were very large and in spotless condition when we were shown ours the room was cleaned every day and the beds made up again for you with swans/flowers/and petals all over it ( BY THE WAY LADS MOVE YOUR UNDERPANTS AS THEY USE THEM FOR DECORATION LOL)The hotel staff will do any thing with-in reason for you and are all very friendly
The animation team work very i mean very hard to look after you for your stay Dario and Digital are two very good dancers as are they all they do all the break dancing summersaults tapdancing and are very fit young blokes. One thing i might point out is the shop opposite the hotel as i worked out the money quite quick i went across for cigs and they tried to take your money first then confuse you with the change i think they got a fright as i know how they work and were told in no uncertain manner you could imagine to go to H*ll but over all Great people
