At best 4 star by European standards: it does not measure up to typical UK ratings. We booked a "suite" which was in need of updating: the room more 3 star that 4 star. The pool area etc was excellent & you don't spend that much time in the room anyway. Biggest downside to us was the buffet dinner arrangements. The hotel was approx 40% capacity during our week there and had we chosen to eat in the better restaurants (a la carte) then we would have been the only occupants (no one ate there during our week!!) I expect that during July/August then you will possible not be Billy-No-Mates. We simply do not like AT ALL a half hour turn round for dinner: we like to be served & enjoy a leisurely dinner over maybe 90 minuts or so. There is an excellent beachside restaurant called Cocunut Island and we dined there on our last night. Despite the location and name, I will recommend it! The Chateaubriand was to UK standards & with a bottle of Veiux Magon & other drinks came to an acceptable 161 TDN (approx £25 a head) BUT El Mouradi own most of this area inc this restaurant. We ate there at lunchtime & booked a table for 8.30 being assured that we could charge the meal to our room (they even needed our hotel/room number for the reservation). However, after we had dined & came to charge the bill to our room then we were told that this was incorrect, and certainly no apology for the incorrect information we'd been given. Next: their credit card terminal connection was not working correctly - so our cards were declined. Next, they sent me up to the El Mouradi Club Hotel (that they were attached to) to pay but who would not take payment when I got there. Next I went back to our El Mouradi hotel (the Palace) & got sterling from my room, changed it at reception, then went back to Coconut Island and paid them cash. This took over an hour with my wife & daughter left in the restaurant: we were all thoroughly miffed with our last evening spoiled. Quite simply, El Mouradi have a localised monopoly (everything is El Mouradi.com this or that) but their customer service in this instance was below zero. So, please do dine at the Coconut Island for quality dining....... but take plenty of cash ONLY to pay for it!Evening entertainment: I'll be generous and say that it is preferable to shoving wasps up your rear but - come on - who the wants 1970's type Butlins entertainment these days? Certainly not us!
Not much choice. Drinks generally poor (don't expect a proper cocktail - you'll simply get a coloured drink!!). Bottled beer fine - but draught beer usually tastes of the pipes (are they ever cleaned??). It is great for a week every three years or so, but I...
