I first visited this hotel when I was 9 years old. I am now 25 and decided to treat my parents to a return visit to re-live our old holiday. You can see my father's review on here too.
When we arrived, we noticed that the hotel has worn quite considerably, however this is expectable after 16 years! It is such a shame that more money hasn't been put into the general upkeep and refurbishment of the hotel.
All of this however is cosmetic work. Whilst we were there, one of the floors was closed for refurbishment and lots of walls were being newly painted so at least some effort was being made in readiness for the new season.
The hotel is very clean and more than adequate for a holiday. I admit that perhaps the rating of 4* is not particularly justified these days; however the hotel offers an incredibly friendly and safe environment for adults and children alike.
The staff must be commended. All waiters are very attentive and friendly (perhaps some too much so!). As I visited out of season, I was able to spend a great deal of time chatting to various members of staff, learning about their culture and practising my French.
The entertainment staff deserve a medal! They all work incredibly long hours, six days a week and are on hand to make sure you're all enjoying your holidays. The animation shows every evening are well planned and practised. The shows are amazing if you consider how small the animation team is and how little preparation time they have.
February was a particularly difficult time for the animation team to put on nightly entertainment due to the shortage of guests in the hotel but they managed to pull it off every night!
If you are visiting Tunisia with a young daughter, or you are a young girl yourself, please be aware that most Tunisian young men (sorry about the generalisation) try to get a date with you! My father had eight marriage proposals for me in two days- he was starting to despair!
Certain members of staff find it very difficult to accept no for an answer and will become very persistent. Unfortunately, this is not a trait only shown in the hotel, but everywhere in Tunisia.
Just be very careful and try to make sure you're never alone. I found that if you even smiled at a guy in a friendly gesture (as we would in the UK); it was taken to mean that you wanted to go for a drink with him. Be very aware also that many of the Tunisian men that I encountered had wives or girlfriends (mostly in the UK).
The food is pretty standard, but there are always many choices. I'm a pretty fussy eater but there was always something there to suit my tastes. The staff working in the pizzeria are fabulous and they also do a mean fresh pizza!
We noted that tipping waiters can become quite expensive as you feel obliged to tip with every drink. If you can get into the habit of giving a tip at the end of the night, that would be sensible.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to everyone. I haven't been able to find a holiday so cheap for such good quality. Give it a chance and don't judge the hotel solely on the decor!
The best part of the holiday must have been meeting my boyfriend, Momo. Who would have thought a trip down memory lane would lead to me meeting my new boyfriend!
If you visit this hotel, you will have the pleasure of attentive staff, lovely food and a beautiful view from your bedroom window of the sea lapping on the beach. What more could you ask for?!
Not recommended.
for starters the resort is full of germans some are so ignorant
i went for a holiday in the sun with the girls and found out it was a nightmare...the staff pestered you and followed you everywhere...really creeped us out

The room was full of ants, the air conditioning didnt work, the sheets were stained and the the bathroom smelt like a public toilet!!..also just to add to this wonderful room dont think you are going to get any sleep until at least 2am every night because the nightclub plays music that loud its impossible to sleep!
the reception staff were ignorant and even charged you to call your rep
the food was bland and full of flys so we didnt eat any of it all week!!
the beach looks really nice from afar but when u actually step foot on it, it is full of cigarette ends
overall i couldnt wait to get back home and honestly would never go back to tunisia..MY ADVICE IS PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL..

I must say on that reading some of the comments made by other holidaymakers on the above hotel gave me sleepless nights, and if I could have cancelled my holiday at such short notice I would have. However I am pleased that I did not; we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff at the hotel could not have been more friendly or helpful, in particular the waiters on the beach. One in particular was always jolly and smiling. There was plenty of entertainment and the Animation Team were brilliant and worked very hard. If you prefer a quiet night of entertainment then go to the American Bar, in which a very nice man sings and plays on a keyboard. The hotel was well presented and kept very clean, although the room we were allocated could have been a bit cleaner and the maid a bit more enthusiastic to clean it. The towels are past their sell-by date (very grey in colour) but clean. The small toilet floor was never mopped during the two weeks we stayed.
One thing I did not agree with was paying 3 dinars for sunbeds in the garden near the beach front.
We found no fault with the restaurant, although it does get very crowded between 8.00-8.30 pm.
You can visit Monastir on the Noddy Train which picks you up at the hotel. Plenty of taxis outside the hotel, but haggle a price to your destination.
In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed Tunisia and would go back again.
