My husband, myself and our 21 month-old son have just returned after 2 weeks in Liberty Hotel. All in all we had a good time, but could not wait to go home mostly because of the food. I am not a fussy eater, but even I became frustrated and by the end of week two could not look at it.

The hotel is situated literally 5 minutes from the airport. My advice is to get a taxi, do not buy a transfer. A taxi will cost you 10 dinars each way (about £4.00). There is nothing around the hotel, so if you want to go out you will have to get a taxi to either Sousse or Monastir (about 7-8 dinars each way).
It is close to the beach, you just have to walk through Neptunia hotel and you will be there in 3 minutes.
The hotel itself is very nice, impressive grand foyer, rooms are spacious and all have nice vews. Our room was cleaned every day, cleaning ladies work very hard and do a great job.

We arrived in the early hours of the morning and were greeted with a refreshing drink and a bottle of cold water for the room. A proper wooden cot was provided for our son, which was great.

We all enjoyed the swimming pool, it is beautiful and spacious, water is very clean, there is a shallow area for kids.
I read many reviews prior to going and was expecting a lot from the animation team. They are good, but I would not go as far as saying ";fantastic";. During the day you can expect activities such as water aerobics, archery, darts, salsa lessons and boules. Evening entartainment was as professional as shcoolkids' sketches, but we had a few laughs and the animation guys do try really hard, bless them !! :) Amongst their shows you may expect Cabaret night, Quiz night, a couple of Bingo nights, Grease show and something like ";best couple"; competition. Quiz night was brilliant, we had a great laugh! During our 2 weeks they invited professional entertainers only once, it was a night of Tunesian folklore which was really good. Oh, and of course Fakire show was pretty cool too !

Now, that's about it about Liberty's good side.... The worst thing about it was FOOD. There was not a single person there that didn't complain... While they had a good selection of salads and deserts, when it came to main dishes....Put it this way - I lived on salads for two weeks... Our toddler lived on boiled eggs and pasta, they DO NOT cater for kids (apart from free ice cream in the afternoon). Everything was bland, they did not even have ketchup (although we are not ketchup fans, it would have helped). Their idea of it was something I would call tomato juice in a pot . Didn't even taste of tomatos. Fish was impossible to eat - bony sceletons with skin. They never served pork, beef was a rare delicacy and served with inedible tasteless sauce. Chicken was always very dry and had more bones than meat on it. The problem is, they serve the same stuff every day! Dinner leftovers would be served for following breakfast and so on and so forth....

Don't take me wrong, you wouldn't go hungry, but most people had to live either on salads (like myself) or on bread and pasta - which were the only recognisable food there. I do appreciate it is hard to cater for different nationalities and tastes, but if the majority of guests are German, English and French - the common sense would suggest some recognisable european food, wouldn't it? Not in this hotel. On certain days we didn't even want to guess what meat they were serving - certainly nothing I'd ever seen ot tasted.

The other downside of this hotel - its bar stuff. Always grumpy, forever muttering something in arabic and often giving people nasty looks. Brrrr.... Although there was one bartender normally on morning shifts who was really pleasant and polite - look out for a tall guy with greyish hair. A tip for the ladies: send your men to get drinks. If you go to the bar regularly yourself some bartenders start thinking you are interested in them rather than in a cup of cappucino. One of the guys asked me directly if I wanted to have some fun with him.... Disgusting !

One other thing i disliked was the fact that some staff there (mostly Ali Babas and shop assistants) would not leave your kids alone, constantly trying to pick them up and playfully take their things away. Luckily, our son was alright with it, but some kids were getting rather upset, and even a firm ";no"; from the parents would not stop them.

All in all, we had a reasonably good holiday and met many great people, but 2 weeks was definitely too long. If you are planning on going there, go for 1 week. In this case you would probably cope with the food alright. It was only during the second week when food issues really started to get on our nerves.
To sum it up - the hotel offers a reasonable deal for what you pay for it. If you are not a fussy eater and are only after some sunshine and a nice swimming pool, then it is definitely for you !

When we arived at 4am we were welcomed by a very friendly member of reception who gave us our all inc cards ect and a bottle of cold water along with general info. The rooms are a fair size and reasonably clean with some good views if you get a sea view or pool view.We woke fairly early and looked forward to our first breakfast, which consisted of croisants, bread, yoghurt, fruit, very porridge like scrammbled eggs and some rather unusual cold rice salad, but first impressions were ok.

The pool was large to say the least and plenty of room(but beware of sitting on the grassed areas as there are many ants, and twice the size of ours back home!)the pool was very clean as was the indoor pool. The many flys in the main lobby area were annoying to say the least. the staff were all very friendly and cheerfull considering their very low pay.We found the location was a bit of a problem as there was hotel after hotel and only a taxi into Sousse or Monastir which costs around 7Dinar(£3.50) would you see the real Tunisia, which was full of shops and open markets where the locals don't leave you alone.

We took part in camel rides which was a real giggle, and quad biking which was fun to do,the hotel sales men from a company called ALI BABA! are the guys to see.Try the algae wrap, sauna, follwed by a fantastic massage but do this on the first day or so as it can help stop you getting burnt, highly recommended!.

A bit run down in parts but supposed to be getting a major renovation at the end of the season (06). Resonable but basic room, pool area clean, dinning area clean and food reasonable and on most days tasty. (most meat on the bone).

We enjoyed our stay but the ";all inclusive"; drinks was only 1/2 pint beer Bhouka (like vodka) coctails, and soft drinks. This let the hotel down as there was only one bar for ";all inclusive"; sometimes had to que for 15 minutes before the bar closed. We drank most of our duty free ! A small tip bottles of vodka and whisky are hard to buy so take your own!

Annimation team one of the best I have seen (and I've seen a few) superb!

I thought that the holiday i went to in tunisia at the hotel liberty was absolutley amazing, i loved everything about it, the pool, the drinks, the kids club, the kids mini disco, and especially the staff.

The animation team were absolutley fantastic as they always came and talked to you and try and get you to joing in with things, such as darts, archery, mini discos, and everything else there was to do. There was only one thing i disliked, coming home i was very upset as i loved everybody there especially Nino who worked with the animation team. He was sweet kind and loved everybody whatever nationality they were, English, German, French, Tunisian, Dutch, Italian and all of them he could speak he was very clever well all of the staff were speaking all them different languages and remembering and understanding all of them. Nino was my favourite and always will be he was great with every single person whether they were babie, child, teenager, adult or elderly.

The animation and staff team were what made me never want to come home, they made my holiday and i want to go back now every single year and not a day less.I love nino and Kimo and Patrik and Gemma and Kim and Allo and all of the other animation team i love Nino especially though. As i only went for a week i wished id stayed longer. Every other night night me and my family would go into the amercian bar and dance and listen to the great music that Nino played. I danced with Nino one niht my best night every and then the next night i danced with Kimo that was great aswell as they are both such good dancers.

Ienjoyed watching the shows every night. Grease that was my favourite show and all of the Animation team who joined in were absolutley fabulous, they made the show great.I loved all the songs and the words and especially whe nino played the gutair and sang his song that was the best.I also loved the irish dancing and how Nino coped so well with his bad knee doing all the dancing and kicks.

Iloved the holiday and wish i could do it again.I hope all of the Animation team are there next year because they were absolutley brilliant and i love Nino i hope he is there especially next year he was my all time favourite.
