Sad Saadia - you can see that hotel was brilliant when first built but has been left to go to rack and ruin. All web site photos must be very old as they do not show the cracked tiles, the overgrown gardens, the uneven patched up crazy paving everywhere, the unusable tennis court / football pitch, and the unkempt childrens play area. Even the beach facilities were a disappointment. The only plus was the staff who were always polite and friendly. Thank goodness we were only there for a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T BE TEMPTED TO BOOK ANY EXCURSIONS WITH ALI BABA AT THE HOTEL.

Skanes was disappointing - there is nothing but hotel after hotel. No promenades or walks to take to little cafes and only one restaurant hence it's usual to stay in your own hotel.

When arriving at Hotel Saadia, my first thoughts were its in the middle of nowhere. I was exactly right. Three was nothing at all to do, no nearby bars to go to, no nearby restaurants. Was basically confined to the hotel, unless you get a taxi. In which we did do so to the town centre. Never again, was horrible. The taxi drivers drive like lunatics in cars like the flintstones, one drive whilst driving drank out of a bottle of water and then chucked it on his window on his windscreen to use as water to clean his windscreen, whilst driving. Was scary. The town centre has nothing, went to an english bar as it stated and was full of locals. Felt very intimidated and left.

Hotel is clean and room was ok. But staying there for a week was more than enough, we were bored on the 2nd day. As you cant walk about anywhere as there is nothing to do, your stuck around the pool or in the hotel.

Entertainment was ok, but they constantly tried grabbing you up, even if you were adament you didnt want to. Although the animation team did work their socks off.

As for All Inclusive, food was ok, bit repetatve, and myself, mu and dad all got upset stomachs.

The drinks are a disgrace. You could only use one bar which was the outside bar, the inside bar you had to pay??? Yet we paid to go all inclusive. Also the only drinks that you can have are wine, lager, or thier version of vodka or whisky which are both undrinkable and obviosuly soft drinks, but all drinks come in plastic cups. If you want anything else bacardi, martini etc you will have to pay for it.

I would not reccommend this hotel, trust me you will be very bored.

If you enjoy sitting round pool every day and night time, sitting in hotel then this is for you, but if you like to have a stroll around do not go here

Like alot of other people I had read the reports on here and worried what I was letting myself in for!

The resort of Skanes is a let down in the aspect that their is nothing around so you do feel very much confined to the hotel/beach. The hygeine in the hotel was very good apart from the fact that we were told our room was ready on arrival and went in to find a soaking wet floor and no sheets/duvet on the bed, however this was quickly resolved! To sum up the food - I got along fine and I am a very fussy eater! breakfast was a bit of a let down though.

Realistically, I can see why the hotel Saddia gets portrayed in a negative light - it is very unlike any other all inclusive holiday I have been on - but at the same time it is the cheapest all inclusive holiday I have been on at £250! With all inclusive I think you just grow to assume that their will be food on tap as that is what you have paid for but the snack bar never seemed to be open! Drinks were always available but all inclusive guests get served drinks in plastic cups and are served very cheap alcohol in very small measures! Their is definitely a system ran where by if you have a blue all inclusive band on the waiters will not come round and serve you and you will be made to wait a lenghty time - however as soon as the clock hits midnight and the all inclusive band becomes invalid they are more than happy to assist you which tended to annoy alot of people.

The entertainers work tirelessly around the clock and really deserve to be commended for their effort. Me and my friend booked this holiday as a late deal on teletext holidays and all we were looking for was a cheap holiday to unwind to after a stressful time at uni and nice hot sunny weather to relax too. Therefore, I would recommend this holiday to like minded people who are just looking to relax and are not to bothered about local amenites and entertainment. I would advise families and people in the 40+ range to assess all of the comments on this website to weighup if it is really what your looking for. I would not compare it to other all inclusive holidays in europe for example but you have to remember that Tunisia is a poor country.

One final thing - my friend had her phone stolen out of the room so make sure you make use of the safety deposit box and also if you do venture out then prepare to be pestered - I wouldnt say it was harassment just more to do with the fact that they are poor and trying to make a living. Hope this helps!

Please do not be put off by other reviews of this hotel, having read them I was dreading the holiday that we had booked.

We were pleasantly surprised, the rooms are basic and a bit dark and the corridors could do with new carpet and redecorating however, the rest of the hotel was very good. It is very clean and the dining area has been refurbished recently. The food was excellent a varied choice, hot and plenty of it as soon as one tray was empty they would bring out another. The staff are all very obliging and polite. We did not participate with any of the activities offered so cannot comment on them. The beach was lovely and kept clean by the attendant. You are very much confined to the hotel in the evenings as there is no where that you can go for a walk. If you leave the hotel you are pestered by the taxi and caleche drivers all the time BUT we are in a foreign country and this is their way of life and I am afraid they will rip you off if given the opportunity so beware.
