have just got back from 2 weeks at houda, after reading some of the reviews didnt know what to expect.we had a great holiday always plenty of sunbeds didnt have to get up at the crack of dawn to get you towels out swimming pool and water slides were great . the food was fine but did get a bit repetitive ,if you go expecting bacon and sausages in the morning you will be disapointed because they dont have any pork products you do have to que for fried eggs and omletts . the entertainment team are fantastic there is always something going on and most of the evening shows were good too put on by the team but the best we have seen an entertainment team do.all in all a good holiday and met some nice people.

Okay, I am a regular reviewer on this site. I try to tell the good as well as the bad. Arival - Good played and danced bomba as we go off the bus, have english lady in resort to look after us.

Rep - Assam is amazing, he is what all reps should be like. We got given a duff room ovelooking a mozzy ridden garden. He changed it to a nice Sea View. The welcome meeting is amazing very entertaining, you get warts and all, essential listening.

Bar - Miserable staff who serve weak nasty lager in tiny glasses with huge head. The spirts are not watered just very weak local stuff.

Restaurant - Food is well dodgy, make wise food choices, ie food which is served hot an the flies couldn't have landed on. Flies are all over the restaurant and they only have a couple of fly killers. Food doesn't warm to english pallets, you can't even get a full english for breakfast.

Animation - Dire in a word. They are just womanisers, they will only spend time with pretty ladies. The shows are bland including country and western dancing, same tunes every night! DJ is really good though and plays funky Ibiza style music while you laze by the pool.

Pools - Very nice shaped pools for all ages, however you do have to beat the Germans to the sunbeds by 6am. One morning I got woken at 5:30am by the noice of deck chairs being set out.

Nurse - Very experienced medic. We experienced his skills first hand when my wife was treated for food poisoning, should have guessed the people who left our room left the imodium! She has got suspected Salmonella and is on really pokey Antibiotics, another reviewer who revied the hotel under the Sousse town complained the same in July 08. We missed our airport bus while I went to taxi to the cashpoint to get the doctors money!

Taxis - At the entrance to the hotel, but make sure you agree a price up front or you will get ripped. While getting the money for the doctor I got ripped off despite agreeing a price, not bery honourable people.

Shops - Gets very boring, you have to haggle for everything, it was fantastic coming back to UK and buying stuff with a price on it. Skanes is sparce a nice bar and Pizza place that's about it.

Trips - We went on three trips, zoo/zulu (good), Gladiators/Pirates (Good) and skuba diving with local skuba bloke who visits pool (brill).

All in all if you have booked and can't change you can take note of reviews on here and have a reasonable holiday. If you can change then my advice would be to do so

Having read so many bad reviews about the hotel, I was wary about spending 2 weeks there.

Firstly, on arrival we were fobbed off with a 2 bed apartment rather than the 2 twin rooms that I had booked but stood my ground and the rep, Jo, was very good! In the end, the kids stayed in the 2 bed apartment for 1 night and my husband and myself stayed in the twin room on night one only and then the kids were moved to a twin room on the next morning. The rooms that we had on the 3rd floor were very spacious with a balcony overlooking the Safari shopping centre nearby which has an amazing pizzeria that is so cheap!

The food at the hotel is fine. None of us had stomach aches and we always managed to find something to eat. We ate at the Italian restaurant onsite, where the lasagne is to die for. With regards to the alcohol, I had read that people thought it was watered down, but I just thought that the vodka was just cheap vodka and not Smirnoff so obviously not as strong. You are only allowed 2 drinks at a time when you go to the bar which you do get used to. Bottled water readily available, which was great.

The poolside is probably the best place to be during the day as all the entertainers are there with their games and wacky lunchtime activities. The entertainment at night which is alongside the water slides is not the best as there are too many breaks in between all the sketches and there are no professional shows everything is done by the entertainers who work nearly every hour of the day! Hats off to Ali G and Tchicho who are very good at what they do and loved our kids to bits.

The only thing that I would grumble about would be the sellers inside the hotel trying to get you to go to the spa and trying to sell youo their trips. They are way too pushy! Stand your ground and they eventually get the message.

We booked this All Inclusive holiday so that we could enjoy ourselves and eat and drink what we wanted, when we wanted but how wrong could you be. The restuarant was a disgrace, flies hovering around you all the time, repetative foods that only the germans would be happy eating. Felt like it was Shrove Tuesday everyday as there was plenty of pancakes on offer. Only had ice cream once during the holiday, as it was only on offer at lunch times if you went in the restaurant, which we didnt as it had nothing appertising to offer. Booze was rubbish, well watered down. Bar Staff where very polite, especially Amhed. The Reps where a disgrace they didnt entertain anyone they just annoyed people shouting ELLO, ELLO. Couldnt believe that they used the Hotel Aqua Park for the night time enterainment, plenty of glasses getting broken by the tourists, so god only knows how many cuts people got during the day. Well when it came to get your sun loungers by the pool, it was either stay up till the early hours 2am or get up early 5am to race the germans for the sun loungers, what a nightmare or better still pay the snack bar attendants 3 dinar and they would put your towel out for you and keep an eye open no one took it. The La Carte restaurants left a lot to be desired, dont bother going the food is never cooked properly, always raw, a good way to get food poisioning. The hotel nurse Skanda was fantastic when we got bitten by the mozzi's and my daughter broke her toe on the pedalo. Port El Kantaoui is a lovely area and would recommend anyone visiting Tunisia to go there as Skanes is so quiet for tourists. Skanes has no shops or bars to keep you amused nearest town is Sousse, where you will be hassled by the locals. I would never go back to the Houda Beach, but would really like to visit Tunisia again in the future and sample some of the delights of Port El Kantaoui.

Came back on 30/6/08 after spending the worst 14 days ever. Food was appalling and inedible. If you dared enter the restaurant there would be a melee of people trying to get food. Never any cruet on tables and not always cutlery and tables not cleared. No saucers for cups and no teaspoons (provided with straws to stir drinks). Constantly harrassed by traders in hotel complex trying to sell trips, jewellry, clothes - the word 'NO' doesn't appear to be in their vocabulary. The entertainment was extremely poor unless of course you like to see men dressed as women dancing to various tunes every night entertaining. So bad that there were significant numbers of people complaing to their reps and some people trying to get early flights home. I would have to say that, even if I won a free holiday there, I wouldn't take it and I would recommend that anyone considering going to the Houda to think again and save a huge disappointment.
