Just back from our first family holiday at this resort.I have taken into account all of the relevant, important points of this kind of review and feel that even the low price we paid for this holiday was not money well spent. The actual resort itself is typical North Africa.
I would not, however, recommend this hotel. The price was cheap and that about sums up our experience.I wish I had found this web site before booking,as I see other people had a similar experience.Please,please,please-be cautious when booking this type of budget holiday and if it's Sousse you wish to visit,go 5 star(and read what other people have learned at any hotel you fancy).Better still, avoid Tunisia and do Morrocco or Egypt instead.

First of all i would like to reassure anyone thinking or who have already booked to go to this hotel PLEASE do not let the other reviews put you off as this hotel is absolutely fantastic the entertainment is very good the staff are wonderful very friendly even the man on the reception desk!and the animation team are brilliant with young and old.
This hotel is 3 star it is exceptionally clean the beds are very comfortable and your rooms are made up and cleaned every day and also the rooms are carpeted.
The food is very geared up for the Germans but there is pizza, chips, omlette and crusty bread every day and on the main courses there wasnt a day in the whole 2 weeks we was there that we could not make a decent satisfying meal.
The pool area is very good and safe and there is security watching the kids in the pool from morning till night, there is ping pong, park, mini golf all at no extra cost and tennis courts, also you can use all the ammenities of the hotel royal jinene which has a sauna, massage and fitness room.Sun loungers are free at the pool and beach but they do charge 1 dinar for the cushions which is optional 1 dinar is 40p for the day!
The location of this hotel is okay but not much around it yet still in development but a taxi to sousse or port el kantoui for 4 people is around 4 dinar £1.60. Well worth going to this Hotel.

We booked this holiday as a last minute deal, and found this website after we booked!
All we can say is, do not listen to the awful reviews!- we arrived expecting the worst place and instead found a pleasant hotel with really friendly staff, with the exception of one grumpy reception man (who was just generally grumpy with everyone! inc. staff)The pool and entertainment staff were excellent- very friendly and happy to help!
The rooms were a little dated with carpet half way up the wall (the tunisians love their carpet walls!!)but very clean and we had a brill maid who fan tailed the bed covers and pj's on the bed! sheets were changed every day and we had fresh towels- lovely view 3 floors up, overlooking the sea and pool area. Rooms are basic with no TV etc- but you can hire one (and anyway who comes on hol to watch TV??- you only have one british channel anyway!)
The food isnt as bad as some have said, but there is room for improvement- breakfast was scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, bread, cereal, cabbage/sausage etc but every second day there was fresh crepes- made to order. Dinner was pasta, potatoes, chips, meats with lots of salad options- vegetable dishes etc.We only stayed a week, so that helped as there wasnt much choice really. We only ate out a couple of times around the medina- which was nice but a little pricey- with huge portions you cant really complain though!
The hotel is situated between Sousse and Port El Kantaoui, so we had the best of both worlds, although there was nothing really close by- just wasteland and other hotels. Taxis are ten a penny and cheap to get around- although we were told on our last day by some locals we made friends with that the tourists were charged more and should ask for the driver to put the meter on (as this is cheaper)although we didnt try. We went to this really cool club called Living- next to Banana bar- good night out but expensive to drink!
Generally the people were v.friendly- but around medina (sousseandport el kantaoui) lots of hassle to look in shops- however a stern no seemed to work in most cases, dont let this put you off though- but be aware- they have every trick in the book and always go at least 1/3 of what they ask 1st- just go to walk away- they soon accept!
We really liked Tunisia, the people and weather (when it didnt rain!) and would definitely go back- although maybe not to Jinene- too many other nice hotels to stay. All in all a great holiday!

We stayed at this hotel for a week and found it very disappointing.
The Reception stank of cigarette smoke and the smell hit you every time you opened the door. The hotel was cold and the heating did not work properly. It was unfortunate that we went during a bad period of weather as the draughts coming into the hotel were awful. However even with good weather our opinions on this hotel would not change. The food was awful. The buffet service did not accomodate vegetarians or meat eaters. The food was cold and the rice under-cooked. There was a lack of choice or variety even after we complained to our rep. But the maitre D' service was appalling. We were expected to share a table with another couple for every meal. We refused to do this as we wanted privacy as we were on holiday however the staff did not appreciate this which resulted in problems for us getting a table at every meal sitting. There were free tables in the restaurant but we were told we could not sit there. The maitre D' did not sort out this problem for the whole stay.
We can only recommend the indoor swimming pool which was our saviour whilst we were in the hotel. We also recommend booking as many trips as you can via the rep which we enjoyed to both northern Tunisia and to the Sahara. They are worth every penny.
We also had problems in the room itself with the maid service which was below average. On three occasions we were only left a bath towel and nothing else. The bed sheets were not changed once during our stay and nor were the floors swept or cleaned.
With regards to shopping we recommend avoiding the medinas and only shopping in the government run shops which are fixed priced so you can't get ripped off and to avoid being man-handled at the medinas which isn't a nice experience. Also be warned that everywhere you go people expect money, whether it's to take a picture or tip them for being nice to you. You have been warned!
