I have just come back from a 2week break and stayed at the hotel marhaba with my 2children,the weather was fantastic and location of the hotel was good as well,we went halfboard which was a good idea if you have kids as they didnt always liked the food they chose first time round.the pool was great they now have 3water slides that are open from 10-12 and 3-5 free of charge for anyone to use, this is just as good as the aqua park which chages kids loved doing the arobics and dance around the pool as well, The only thing i didnt enjoy if im to be competly honest was the loud music they played around the pool and in the evening the music was that loud i had problems geting my kids and myself to sleep. The rooms are very basic and the beds and pillows very uncomfortable,i will not return to this hotel.

We had a great holiday in Tunisa. It all depends on what you are looking for. The hotel was so freindly and couldnt do enough to help. The rooms are very basic, but are big and are cleaned on a daily basis. We found a great atmosphere around the pool. The entertainers never stopped from aqua-arobics to water polo. They joked and laughed with both the kids and adults. The beach we visited once, but offered less than the poolside atmosphere. We spent very little other than going on trips. The 3 day safari organised by First choice was hard going. Our 9 year old girl found it very tiring. During the safari there is a horse and and cart ride. Please be aware that these carts are VERY UNSAFE. Our ride was one we wont forget. The cart turned over with my family in it. Having fallen out of the cart because the side broke off, it the fell on top of me fracturing a rib, my partner suffered brusing aswell. The local hospital was dirty, and equipment falling apart. We are at the moment trying to get First choice to miss this out of the safari. Food at the hotel was based on a one week menu so if you go for 2 weeks you may get the same food on week two. There was always plenty of food. You could go into the dinning room 10 minutes before closing and there would stil be all the options there. You can also get food down at the poolside bar you have to get a card from recieption with the ammount you require on it, the food is very good and cheap at the bar. We went all inclusive but this option doesnt unsure quick service as you are only allowed 2 drinks at a time, our friends who were half board had waiter service and were generally servered quicker than us. During our summer months the hotel is very popular with eastern block countries which we found them to be very rude and little interest in joining in poolside fun. Staff give better service by the poolside and bars if you give them tips (1 dinar = 43p) they are happy with 1 dinar, 8 dinars is usually a days pay to them. Overall we really enjoyed our holiday and plan to go back again next year. Tunisa is not for those who enjoy night life, high standard hotels, and british standard cleaniness. Enjoy your tour opperator trips they are worth the money. After speaking to others this seemed to be one of the better hotels in the area, we never had any problems with dirty linen or insects in the room.
We travelled through out tunisa and all the shops seem to sell the same things , bartering is normal always start off with a third of the price they want to charge you. The medina can be overwelming but a challenge we didnt have any problems there. The taxi...

this was our first visit to Tunisia, the weather was fabulous, take a high factor sun screen or you may burn, the Hotel Marhaba was the biggest hotel we have stayed in so far, there is marble every where nice and cool under foot in the heat. you are given a complimentary cold drink on your arrival, you do not have to move your suitcases the porters do it all for you, there is a large set of marble stairs to the 3 floors and also 2 lifts, this hotel we found was large and spotlesly clean the staff will go out of there way to help you in any way they can, it is customary to tip which we constantly did only 2/3 dinar which is £1.50 but worth it for the service you get,the entertainment team around the pool day and night were the best we have had yet especially joe abdou eddie and zippy they were a big hit with my son (6) and my daughter (15) take time to visit the medina for bargains, and also el dhjem where they filmed Gladiator is amazing. the only bad thing about our holiday was people in the streets outside pestering you to buy anything even flowers they pick of the trees on the roads they craze you and even use small children to try to persuade you to buy, they especially liked to follow you down the street i think having a stunning 15 year old daughter on my arm was a huge atrtraction for the men, i have never been hassled quite as much any where els in the world, although this did not spoil our holiday i am not sure i would go back to tunisa to be bugged in this way. but i would say if you are thinking of this hotel i could not fault it and its staff, and the weather is great 93 degrees when we left after 2 wks

Had a fantastic time in Tunisia, was a little apprehensive reading reviews but needn't have worried. Hotel Mahaba impressive in the reception, corridors let the decor down. Rooms spacious, went half board and couldn't have a fridge - disappointing. Had problems in the bathroom (blocked sink, broken loo handle) this was fixed the same day. Food really good lots of choice presented well. Nice that you have the same table. Pool area nice but very loud lots of music same repetative club songs that played 3 - 4 times a day drove us all mad, very difficult to read due to noise. Beach beautiful, but music played there aswell.Difficult to get pool bed in the shade, found out the bed man was being tipped by others so they could have an umbrella, does get very hot. Evening entertainment very poor in fact insulting to the word entertainment. Resort ok got ripped off for drinks prices at western bar. medina a fantatstic experience but be prepared just say 'La Shok-o-ran' means no thankyou tend to leave you alone then. Water park, very small only stayed a couple of hours. Best bit of the holiday - the african night, i fed an elephant before eating a fantastic meal and watching zulu dancers. Also the 2 day sahara trip wouldn't recommend for smaller children as lots of time travelling but watching the sunset whilst riding a camel in the sahara made the holiday. If you have any old football shirts take them to barter, my kids constantly offered money for theirs, also advise to take whiskey, v.expensive out there, knew a couple who bartered one bottle for 2 jet skis. Very very cheap would definately go again, only let down was so called entertainment. Looking for next years holiday now and struggling to match price and good reviews. Well worth the visit.
