We booked hotel and flight independently to get best deal. Transfers were working out around the £100 mark so we decided to bite the bullet and get a taxi when we arrived which worked to our advantage costing 20 dinar (£8 ish) however on way back managed to make a deal for 8 dinar (£2 ish) bargain!
We read the reviews on this site and thought it a decent enough hotel and booked. Then found other sites on the net saying that the Sinbad was the worst hotel ever etc etc. We had to come back and write this review. The hotel was extremely clean, the staff were friendly and took time to get to know you and remember your name. We did have a problem with the air con and reported it the morning after we arrived and did have to remind the reception later that night that it still wasn't working but they immediately came up and checked and within half an hour the maintenance guy had been and gone and we were cool again.
The pool is on the small side and is a pain when a lot of kids are in the hotel but on the whole you can usually get a dip without too much hassle. The sun dissappears around 5pm at the pool side behind the building but if you want to stay on and sunbathe there is a terrace which gets the sun till 6.30pm and it gets dark after that any way.
Last point on the hotel. Lots of people complained about the food being so basic but I would say it may be isn't so good for kids or fussy eaters but we both found it to be great and about 4 dishes plus salad to choose from. Also 2 different soups and dessert. Breakfast was french bread, croissants, sugar puffs and boiled eggs and more salad type things - We thought great for £60 for a week! Couldn't get a rooms board at home for that for a weekend never mind a whole week plus food. Towels and linen changed every day.
Road to beach not a problem for adults - no they don't stop at the zebra crossing but if you start walking like the tunisians do the traffic will stop - we didn't really risk it but once we remembered which way traffic was going we were fine. Just not for kids to attempt on their own. Beaches lovely and sinbad beach got own cafe and they don't let the tunisians annoy you when you are sun bathing - they get chased away unless you invite them.
We went to the medina in Sousse - good fun and good for a bargain. Nightclubs good too I think from what we can remember.
Port El Kintoui is beautiful however be prepared if you are single females you will be followed and chatted up and sometimes it is difficult to get rid but do be polite to begin with then be firm and tell them not so politely to get lost. Unless of course you are interested. Don't recommend the Pirate Boat Trips but did hear the catamirans were good and relaxing.
We tried to stay longer as we did love it. Def go back to the sinbad. Only thing missing was the night time entertainment when you couldn't be bothered jumping a cab into Sousse or Port but it was only 3 dinar each way. They are supposed to be starting entertainment soon so you may be lucky.
Hope this helps you decide whether to book or not. If you want a 5 star book a 5 star or an expensive 3 go somewhere else. This is a 3 star basic but cheap and friendly with no hassles and they sure do look after you. Enjoy.
