riadh palms hotel is disgusting.we entered the riadh palms late at night as our flight didnt arrive till after midnight instead of gettin a complementry drink we had to pay for them at 4.00am in the morning We had to fill out forms which took forever.we arrived at the room which wuz simple and clean at that point evryone in the family was tired and we wernt able to look around.that morning we missed breakfast.

we payed to go all enclusive to this hotel knowning knowmore we went to lunch that day we sat down in a nice beach restaurnat near the pool we thort this was not bad until the BILL arrived us being all inclusive couldnt understand a all inclusive hotel where you had to pay for meals.we were also treated differently as my child went to get a cold drink the bar staff placed a bottle of coke on the bar until he relised that she was all inclusive the bottle went back and she was given a glass with flat coke in!this i think is not exceptable!

the building work is evrywhere doors hanging off lifts not working!the food is not worth eating as many people sat for dinner with nothing on there table!.that monday we complained to the rep which she is very helpfull we and many others were transfered to different hotels.our opinion is not recommended.

This was our first trip to Tunisia and we had heard a mix of opinions.

Our hotel the Riadh Palms was clean and most of the staff were polite although not as keen on time keeping as we are! The holiday rep was late on every occasion when we were meant to meet her. Our room was clean and seen to every day by the cleaning staff apart from one day when we were in our room all day with dodgy tummys!. I agree with the comment made by another reviewer regarding the dark hall ways in the hotel! I beleive our room was on a recently refurbished side of the hotel as the main corridors were dark and the carpet was dirty and smelly! The main corridors had a smell of warm wet dogs and cooked ham!!

The food was very much the same every day however as we were only staying for bed and breakfast this was not a problem. I would recommend only Bed and breakfast if you want to get out and about and experience different food. Breakfast was in my opinion great! They made fresh ring donuts every morning which were georgeous! along with the usual croissants and choc au pain. There was plenty to choose from and you could fill yourselves up at breakfast and not worry about lunch!!

The pool was also clean and as it was in an S shape it was pleasant to swin around or to just lay back and watch others swim by! There was also a childrens pool which prevented too much splashing from children!! Im not a good swimmer and had forgotten to pack some water proof mascara!!!!

The resort was ok but we could not find a supermarket which had basics such as bread or something we could buy for lunch. The town itself was fairly intimidating. There were very few women around and the men seemed very keen on getting money from you by whatever means! The medina was like running the gauntlet!! My advice would be not to give any eye contact and to keep walking through the narrow streets to avoid being pulled into their shops. Signs saying 'no Hassel' are meant to entice you into the shop where the shopkeepers can then pounce! When haggling for items be assertive but also have fun with it! The whole medina experience I found draining and would have liked to have looked at more shops but was tiring of the 'you look for free' 'i give you good price' 'cheaper than Asda' 'where are you from'. On your first visit you may think 'what friendly people' however as you move on you will realise that they all have the same lines and all want your custom rather than your chat!!

We also went on the Desert Saffari. This was a 2 day trip which was around £75. Although there was alot of hidden costs ie the camel ride and 4 x 4 ride to a waterfall was £20 each and if like us you chose not to go you were sitting around alot especially the second day. However it was great to see the real Tunisia from the coach. We also saw the salt lakes and the collesium where we were told Gladiator was filmed (although looking on the DVD cover it says it was filmed in Moroco!!). It was interesting to see the difference between the tourist areas of Sousse etc to the real Tunisian life.

There also seemed alot of horse and carriage rides. On greeting the horse I found that they were not cared for and one in particular had an open sore around his harness. All looked like they could have done with a few good meal aswell!

Overall we did have a good break and glad we have visited but feel that we will not be returning to Tunisia.
