Overall Hotel Rating:
Just arrived back from the holiday from hell thanks to the lovely people who were holidaying and staying in the apartment above us who spent the entire fortnight getting stocious and tried to kick there door in at 4am and made our lives hell with their shouting, swearing and generally being obnoxious. Thanks Rep didnt want to know neither did staff who merely shrugged their shoulders.
Room was cleaned when we asked, had to ask several times for clean towels however as one of the cleaning girls was found pinching from the rooms and fired they were kind of short of staff then. Had one meal in restaurant and it was the worst we had the entire fortnight. Have been to turkey 6 times now and had enough of the hassle from the local restaurants. too hilly if you have walking difficulties. check all your bills carefully in restaurants as they have a habit of adding items you didnt order or have.

Just returned from the arya apts in gumbet after reading reveiws before we went we thought what have we let ourselves in for. But we got a cheapy and for what we paid for it was well worth it,clean and a place to sleep,if you book 5* you should get that this quite adequate for what we needed. We only ate once at the apts and were apprached by cash the chef for not eating there and he never spoke to us for the rest of out holiday. Martin on the reception nice friendly so are the other staff. The sun flower restaurant next door absolutely brill food best we had all week and beleive me we ate some food. Lots of people spoke to who ate there said the same so if you stay there give it a try. Dont eat in the lotus they promise you lots of freebies then when your bill comes you are charged for them. Beach nice and peaceful the aloha bar sells fab cocktails chocolate monkey to die for.
Overall had a good holiday and would deffo go back something there for all ages.

i alwys use this site to check b4 i book my hols, so thought id add my opinions on our recent holiday to gumbet. i read a few bad reports from last year and was a bit concerned as to what we would find on arrival. the transfer took about 40 mins and we were the last ones to be dropped off. the welcome on arrival at reception was very friendly and we were taken to our room, the whole place was very clean and had lots of lovely plants in the gardens,
our room was a little small but who needs lots of unused space you only shower and sleep there. the room was all newly refitted and of a high standard and very clean we also had a small balcony as we were b and b , the apartements had lots of inside space and bigger balconies.the restaurant had a good menu and was cheaper than most restaurants in town as if you are residents you get a discount. we went to the bbq at the magnific across the road, the food was very bad and the after show was just as bad so avoid it. we did treat our selves to a turkish bath and a massage what a must that is. another good day is a boat trip all the same price and visit the same places so you dont need to shop around much.
the best food of the holiday was at the mexican restaurant amigos all home cook and good value just a 10 min walk from the town but worth it. we will be going back to gumbet as lots to do and all the bars open till 5 am if you can stay awake that long. the day we left tha arya was like leaving family behind and we will return again soon.

Was gutted when shown apartment, was dark dingy and very small, floor flooded in kitchenette area. Furniture fit for scrap heap was disgusting, matresses not much better complained and asked to move was told couldnt they were full. spoke to rep at welcome meeting and was told this was standard 2 star accomadation and if we wanted to move we would have to pay {accomadation advertised as 3 star and payed for as that). Lighting on whole complex bad most was not on security lighting not on, nothing inviting about the whole place. Pool water dirty and not cleaned. Bathroom basin cracked, toilet dirty when you had a shower very rare to get hot shower and the smell coming back up from the plug hole was putrid.
Ate in restaurant first night pretty average, hassled to have turkish bath and massage only to discover sign up by the pool that if you eat in the restaurant twice its free, was not that good you get better and cheaper on the main street and free if you book trips. Staff seemed very friendly but changed towards you when you didnt eat there. staff hassling female guest constantly what ever age. Charged to play pool and internet most places give it for free.
never cleaned the whole 2 weeks there had to ask for clean towells and toilet paper constantly. Money, clothing and jewellry go missing when you complain made to feel your the only one and you must have misplaced it, only to find other guest having same thing happen to them.
Beach is tiny not even 30 feet from waters edge to pavement, dirty and covered with thousands of cigarette butts.
You get hassled every where for every thing. only place to find santuary was in sandys bar great place to chill and relax with a fantastic view.
would not recommend these apartments to any one. you can find nice places to eat for cheap and very nice best being the ones that dont try and drag you in. Market is not that good you can get better in shops in Gumbet and barter for a better deal lots of fake goods. Picture adverised of complex is nothing like what you get windows you see have been blocked in. Good boat trips and water sports, tours good but doudle the price if you do through rep so shop around.

The worst hotel we have ever had the misfortune to stay in. Within an hour of arriving we had complained at least three times. The room was dark, filthy and extremely small. There was a double bed pushed up against the wall with a single bedside table next to it- that was the entire width of our room! We also had a single wardrobe which wasn't big enough for the two of us and nowhere to put our cases. The balcony was filthy and the light didn't work. The one and only electrical socket in the room was in the centre of the bed. The bathroom was a health hazard: We had a cracked shower head, large patch of black mould on the ceiling and a broken window; which had been replaced with a piece of wire mesh containing lots of lovely insects. As for the maids, they were known for being light fingered. Don't leave anything of value out. We were using our own towels, as the hotel ones were fit for the bin and even they disappeared! After five days of requesting them back, we were left with no option but to search the laundry room and retrieve them for ourselves. Once we had complained we were ignored by the staff, which didn't really bother us, as they only spoke to us when they were trying to sell us something. The resort was ok. If you like lively nightlife you won't find it here. Most of the bars were empty and when they did liven up they were mainly full of Turkish youngsters. There was plenty of nice restaraunts to choose from (especially on the beach front). Some of the shop owners tend to pester you and don't always take no for an answer. We would reccomend the trip to Pemukale; a long day, but worth it. Also the trip to Dalaman and the mud baths is a must. Would we go back? Gumbet- too quiet for us. Arya- not if it was the last hotel on earth.

Just come back from two weeks stay in gumbet weather great really hot as for the hotel well I would not tell anybody to book here.We stayed at the Aray hotel in gumbet the rooms are small and dirty dont think the cleaners if you can call them that know how to clean a room or what a mop is.
Please get a safe if you stay here as things go missing from your room and if you say anything about it you dont get any help just get told its you that have missed layed things all I can say to that is everyone that were staying there had missed layed alot of things then.
We have been to turkey for the last three years we been to marmaris and thought it would be nice to go somewhere else this time will from now on it will be marmaris for us after saying all this the pool at the aray is clean and the bar staff are great but you do have to put up with staff asking you to book this up come and have a turkish bath come to a bbq with us staff are in your face a lot in this hotel.
When you go out and about you can not just look at what are in the shops you get pull into shops and kept on at have this buy this one it really does get you down.
will not be going back to gumbet again

Overall Hotel Rating:
Just had my first holiday in turkey and would go back next year.
Stayed in The ARYA hotel/Aparts were supposed to be a 3star rating but were definatly a 2 just.
Would NEVER go back to ARYA apartments which is a shame as the staff were great and nothing was a problem. On arrival shown to our room which was G block up a dark dingy stair case the room was a tiny 2 bedroom and not big enough for a family of 5 there was no hanging space for clothes. No were to put cases very squashed, did not spend much time in room as found to dreary, towels changed once after complaining. balcony not up to much either. Spent as little time in apartment as we could.Pool very clean and was cleaned every night however a bit dark around pool area at night. Staff were excelent and could not ask for more friendly people Martin the janitor was great.
Restraunt food was good BBQ night was great got plenty to eat. staff were very entertaining It was our first time in Turkey would go back but definatly not to the ARYA they were dreadful.
Gumbut it self was good, very lively plenty of bars and restrants. would recomend the Cafe Barumba just cross the road from the apartments very nice very friendly and classy. Recommend the Steak House restraunt on the beach front very nice. All in All had a very nice holiday but would have been better if stayed some were else All reading this would not recommend ARYA APARTMENT/HOTEL THEY ARE DREADFUL DINGY DIRTY SMALL DEPRESSING.

Overall Hotel Rating:
We have just returned from the Arya and couldn't believe the way people have ran down this hotel. I must admit after being in Dom Rep,Tunisia and other parts of Europe I was a bit disappointed when we arrived cos the rooms were not of the same standard as we had been used to (i.e very small).
However the staff and the food made up for that one disappointment. We could not believe how friendly everyone at the hotel was and how great they were with our children. We want to say a big hello to Martin, Bayram,Ali, Sedat,Hassan, Abdull, Abtruman, Mosey, Alan, and not forgetting CASH and all the others that we don't have names - these are the staff that we will never forget.
We have already booked to go back next year and will definitely be staying at the Arya as we have made some very good friends there. Hello Carrie and Ozzy (these people have been to the Arya 6 years in a row).
The hotel itself is right in the centre of everything, a 2 minute walk to the beach and out of all the restaurants we tried around gumbet, we found the Arya to be the best one - especially for their sizzling beef and very good prices.
We had our rooms cleaned everyday with fresh towels and the bedlinen was changed every other day - thankyou Maria. All I can say about the Arya is that we loved it - the staff made our holiday - and you can't expect to have the same standards to what you are used to at home. The only thing that worried me after reading some of the articles that people wrote was the hotel being infested with cockroaches - I only seen one cockroach at the Arya and a member of staff killed it and removed it for my little girl as she was scared.
Roll on July 2007 so we can see everyone again at the Arya..........

This is our third time visiting Turkey and the 1st time to Gumbet and we will definately be going back and staying at the Arya
The rooms whilst basic with not a lot of wardrobe space are clean and the bedding and towels are changed every other day.
The staff were fantastic especially Kash, Martin, Mousafa and Sedat (Whoa Dude!!!) and you should definately go for a turkish bath from Byram. The staff created a great atmosphere at the poolside bar where a lot of the guests returned after their night out around the town but they did keep the music low once it got late so they didn't disturb anyone who didn't want to stay up late
The best meals we had were in the hotel restaurant but other good places to try are the Gesi just up the road and the Aloha which offers Indian, Chinese, Turkish, Mexican and English food.
The resort is very hilly and is not suitable for anyone with any walking difficulties.
There is a good mix of bars and restaurants for singles, couples and families and lots of shopping to be done.
On the whole we had a great time and are looking at returning the the Arya in October this year.

Overall Hotel Rating:
This is the worst hotel/apartments we have ever been to anywhere.
On arrival we were shown a room which was absolutly tiny. The stair carpets were torn and dirty and hardly any of the lights worked so you couldn't see where you were going. The room was dirty and smelly, the light on the balcony was broken and the balcony door did not lock. After complaining we were shown another room which was just as small, dark, dingy and smelly. (really when i say smelly the rooms stank like public toilets) Again the balcony light did not work and the door did not lock and as this room was on the ground floor this was totally unacceptable even if the room had been ok.
SO after complaining AGAIN we were shown a third room which was larger and not quite as smelly but as the room was larger the hotel staff were demanding another £150 from us which they said was very good! yeh right! At this point we called the emergency number for my travel and the rep came straight to the hotel, by this time it was after midnight. She agreed with us that there was no way we were paying another £150 and when we went with the rep to show her the room, the be all and end all of the Arya Apartments was a RAT!
We all, including a member of hotel staff witnessed a large rat go up the outside wall of the apartment! Well that was it! We were taken to a FOURTH room as by this time it was impossible to organise a change of accommodation until the morning. This room had clearly only just been vacated and had not yet been cleaned so was just like all the rest. We were then asked to go out for an hour while they cleaned it for us to spend the night. I suffer from brittle asthma and due to the dampness, dirt and stress i suffered an asthma attack and had to use my nebuliser.
Hardly a nice relaxing start to our holiday.
By 1.30am we finally got into the room which we were out of at the crack of dawn.
I WOULD NOT RECCOMMEND THE ARYA APARTMENTS TO MY WORST ENEMY.
On a better note we were moved to the Hotel Baba which according to the Direct Holidays brochure is the same star rating as the Arya! How that can be i don't know. I would reccommend the Baba although the rooms here were also quite small and the balconys were tiny it was emaculate, the pool was lovley and the staff were very helpful.
We definatly reccommend Gumbet but do not stay at the Arya!! We are going back in September and staying at the Jasmine.
We must reccommend Caspers cafe and restaurant on Bar street across from the Baba. Excellent food and drink and very cheep especially for beer, 1 lira 1 beer!! The staff are excellent especially Aiden and Figo. Also the Mandarin restauant further up bar street which serves everything from Chinese to Mexican, hi to Umit, Hipachi and James bond!!

Having booked this holiday before looking at the reviews we where a little worried as the reviews where quite bad. However we found the apartment was lovely, the cleaners came in every other day with fresh towels e.t.c. All the staff where really nice, the restaurant is lovely, the location is ideal (right in the middle of the beach and bars)
This was one of the best holidays i've had in a while and i would recommend the resort and accomadation to anyone. xx

this is the second time to the arya and it was well lets a different experience.
when we went last year we had the best holiday we have ever been on the staff were friendly but not over friendly they made you welcome and the communication wasnt lacking, the rooms were spotless we had clean sheets and towels everyday and when we went this year we were shocked the apartment which was a two bedroomed was dirty the floor was black with muck there was ants on the kitchen surfaces the bin was never cleaned there was cigarette ash in it and we dont even smoke. the toilet smelt like a public toilet and there was mould on the shower door when the maids came in they never even cleaned the bathroom.
the wardrobe space was for one person and it was a five sharing apartment there was one chair that was sticky with dirt, the table fell apart in your hand if you moves it and the terrace table was held together with newspaper and the terrace view was one of the turkish staff bathroom which they never closed the curtaind when washing.
although the pool was cleaned everynight by sedat who made sure every inch was spottless and the pool bar area was clean and the staff out here were really friendly and made you welcome although one member ali was very anti social he never smiled if you spoe to hime you got a horrible tone of voiced reply of him and he was permently stoned he took drugs right next to are appartment and when we complained to the manager he said it was his hotel his staff can do what they want.in the restaurant was dirty the glasses has lip marks on and they has water marks on the staff were horrible eccept for kash and toogut who made you feel welcome.
the staff prounced on us when we got there being to flirtaciouse with my daughter and touching her all the time.
never have a turkish bath here they undo your bra and touch your boobs and pull your bikini bottoms forward and look down them and the reply to that was ";well if you dont like it dont have a turkish bath";the manager was horrible he is a typical turkish middle aged man ";woman do what i tell them to do"; apart from this i had a great time go to club atalantis and the x bar is you want a really good night out buyt the prices have gone up it is 8 lira for a vodka redbull which is £5.00 but there are men which prounce on you to get you to go into the bars young girls need to be careful.
the beach is about 4second walk from the arya it is good down there nobody bothers you and it is a suntrap if you want a great tan then go to the beach it has all watersports and boat trips ajd the sun lougers are free if you go by lagunas by the water sports.the shops are very central. i would never go back to the arya again they would have to get last years staff back first and a new manager because he wasnt there last year when everything was good also watch out for alan the restaurant manger he tries it on with every girl that walks in there but she has to be pretty and then fobs you of when the next set of people come in.
mustafa on the reception at night is fab he is funny and nice he makes you feel welcome.this year the commun ication is lacking badly i dont reccomend this holiday on to anybody. and there are millions od roaches at the hotel at night.

We arrived at the Arya Appts on the 13/06/05 for 2 weeks it was our 3rd visit to Gumbet and probably the worst.
The staff as usual are very happy to see you when you arrive which is fine,so we put the cases in the rooms and went for a drink in the bar.Now be careful of the bar`s happy hour because it is only used to suit themselves to attract people in off the steet so you never know when it is or what your getting. The rooms,my wife and i had a 1 bed appartment all the usual things you would expect with self catering not bad.Air con in the appartments costs £4 per day which can cost you £56 over 2 weeks.Cleaners, when you see them, not at all good they do not clean properly or change sheets regularly.
My 2 boys and 2 of there mates had a 2 bed appt what a joke there is literally no where to put anything other than who gets to the wardrobe first so you tend to live out of the suitcase. My daughter and her friend had a 1 bed appt same as us which again only had the 1 wardrobe!!Martin the maintenance man who works on receoption aswell is a lovely person there is nothing he won`t do for you.
Mustafa the night man is also a great person very friendly and always willing to help and chat.
The pool is kept clean as is the poolside it is cleaned every night.Pool depth at the deep end is 1 mtr 40 so not deep at all.
The staff are friendly enough as long as you spend money in there but are extremely ignorant if you don`t but as i was not on an all inclusive i like to go out to eat.The music in the bar goes on till late so best get a room away from there, the so called DJ (who really is rubbish) who spend`s more time looking in the mirror and trying to chat up ";frustrated 40 something`s"; is really arrogant if you happen to be a male.
I would not reccomend this place to anyone. in my opinion it is badly run,the bar staff are miserable, the 2 bed appt`s are not big enough,
