I stayed in the Grand Blue Sky was also nice with excellent facilities and a good location not too far from the resort centre. I visited various other hotels in the resort ranging from 2* upto 5* the smaller hotels are more central to the resort as to the bigger 5* hotels. I found all hotels were clean and that all staff were friendly and helpful. Overall I was impressed with the standard of accommodation and would be happy to return to any of the hotels.

Just returned from Blue Sky hotel on all inclusive package for one week.We had a wonderful holiday. Hotel is as described in Thomas Cook brochure. Absolutely spotless, superb food. My boys normally eat fish fingers and waffle at home but ate anything and everything here - especialy in the snack bar at the pool.No special food for children but that's not a bad thing. We never ate the same thing twice.Except for the cheese toasties!Delish
Lovely selection of drinks, would recommend the Magic coffee and Blue Sky cocktails.
Never a problem getting a lounger, lovely shady grounds, plus poolside and beach. Free clean beach towels everday - no need to bring from home.

Kiddies pool area was quiet but really for tots.Childrens club was non existant - run by young girls but didn't matter to my boys who just wanted to be in pool and beach anyway.Be careful pool didn't have a shallow end so my 7 yr old got a bit of a shock first day but brought his swimming on a treat! Swim up bar! Didn't spend anything extra on kids as no slot machines, kiddies rides, pinball machines etc etc as in Spain.Thankfully.
Free bottles of water.
Entertainment wasn't up to much, run by Turks and young girls so don't expect a lot, they try their best.Go down to beach party thats fun.
Staff very friendly.Lots of Balkans at this hotel, they weren't much fun either, practically no one spoke to us except the staff. Nice clothes shop at hotel.

Location of hotel is super, only five minutes walk down to Ladies beach with loads of cafes and lilo shops, nice stroll in evening.Take dolmus along to end and walk back.
Kusadasi 10 mins by taxi - very busy and you did feel quite hassled, lovely shops there and worth the experience.
Went to Ephesus by taxi, very hot.
There are a lot of steps at this hotel so probably not for the infirm or if you need a pushchair.

All in all superb value for money and would definately go back.

Stayed at the Grand Blue Sky Kusadasi in September 05 (BandB) hotel was superb, room cleaned every day, grounds kept spotless, pools both clean with plenty of beds and free towels, they also have a dedicated children's pool. Breakfast food has a great selection with something for everyone. The dolmus stops outside the hotel and it's a 10 min ride to Kussadasi town center. The views from all rooms are fantastic overlooking the sea.
Plenty of bars and restaurants on Ladies Beach, a 5 min walk. Our two favorite restraunts where Rosie's and The Hot Pot ( owned by Sue and Ray ) food fantastic, with plenty of choice both local and English and they could not do enough to help us enjoy our holiday.
Cannot wait to go back this year, but a note of warning, if you struggle getting around there are lots of steps to the beach and the walk to ladies beach can be steep in places

Have just returned from a 2 wk break at the Grand Blue Sky. Having read reviews prior to going, complaining about the miserable reception staff. I must admit that given that they are your first impression of the hotel they could certainly have smiled a bit more. The reception area was nothing particularly grand. We have stayed in many 4/5 * hotels in Turkey and this was probably the worst. In its defence I must say that the rooms were the best (very large, and with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, huge balconies with clothes airers) and the views are to die for. However, a lot of British guests we spoke to had trouble with the steps within the complex, which their brochure had not warned them about. There are 90 steps just to get from the pool down to the beach. Also there is a steep walk down to the local Ladies' Beach and the promenade along the front.

We had no idea who the manager was, and even our rep said she was lucky if she saw him once a month. I just got the feeling that the majority of staff were left to their own devices and could have benefited from a bit more supervision.

We were staying on a BandB basis, but did eat at the hotel in the evening on 3 occasions. I had an upset tummy lasting for 2 days following our last visit. The food was unimaginative and rather repetitive, so we were glad that we were not All Inclusive. I did resent having to pay for bottled water when the All Inclusive's could go and help themselves from the fridge at will.

We had trouble with our mini-bar. We told reception that there was no list in the room stating what should be in the bar for our own reference. We didn't actually intend using the mini-bar at all, but just wanted it to keep our water bottles in. We were brought a list and the bar was checked, however when my husband returned to the room ½hr later another receipt had been left stating that we had used 3 cans. When we told reception there must be a mistake, the girl just tore the receipt up and told us not to worry about it. (I was left wondering how many times they had pulled that stunt!)

BandB guests were given a credit card to use for purchases on the complex. Receipts given were priced in Euros, but when you went to settle up at reception the bill had changed to Turkish Lira. The exchange rate could change daily resulting in bottles of waters being a different price depending on the day but there was no way to check the accuracy at all unless you wanted to spend ½hr with a calculator. (Who thought that one up)?

I then found that 8 of my sanitary products had disappeared from the bathroom over the course of 3 days. When I told the rep, who was appalled, I made it clear I didn't want anyone to lose their job over something so minor in monetary value, but she agreed to speak to the manager and ask him to speak to the room staff in general without pointing a finger at anyone in particular. However that evening as we got into the lift to go out, our maid put her hand on the lift doors to prevent them shutting and said she had been told that our room had complained that she had stolen items. She was understandably upset, wanted to know what was missing and said she would never take anything, as we were guests in her country. I must admit to feeling convinced but my husband explained that we had no idea who was responsible as there were other maids on her day-off and daily visits to check the mini-bar. It was incredibly embarrassing, and was angry at the manager's handling of the situation. We informed our rep of what had happened but no attempt was made by the management to apologise to us.

The lack of air-conditioning was another cause for complaints from several families. During our first week, it would go off during every meal-time which was great for the AI's but not for the rest of us who could possibly be in their rooms getting ready to go out. It would go off between 2-4am. which meant a very warm night. Then it was decided that by Turkish standards the weather was cooler so it wouldn't be on at night at all. Our rep intervened and eventually it was agreed that it would be on from 5pm - 3am. and that would be it for the day.

I certainly wouldn't return to either Kusadasi or the Grand Blue. The town itself was not as good as I was expecting from a port that was used by cruise ships. The hassling from shop-keepers was extremely tiring resulting in us buying less than usual as it was too much trouble to pause at many of the shops. On the plus side, our daughter who was holidaying at the same time but in Gumbet, came to stay with us for 2 days, and was surprised at how cheap the restaurants were in Kusadasi.

Holidaymakers actually need to venture back from the tourist areas to find the real Turkey with their own shops and restaurants.

just returned from grand blue sky, hotel was excellent, but having been to turkey more than 10 times in past 6 years i found the staff in hotel on the whole not very accomadating,i got the feeling that because i was staying all inclusive then the staff didnt have to make an effort, the food was first class for adults but please be aware that children are not catered for at braekfast, lunch or dinner,my kids lived on chips, and omelletes from room service which were extra and had to be paid for,the snack bar throughout the day was good for children though, waiter service was the slowest i have ever experienced and 99% of the time i ended up serving myself, the hotel and facilities were first class but i feel itwas let down massively by 80and of its staff, the resort of ladies beach which it overlooks is nothing special, hope this helps,i wouldnt advise anyone to go to kusadasi with kids,my recomendation would be icemeler which is 100% better

We read the reviews before going and were looking forward to a 2 week 5 star holiday, (which turned into a 13 day holiday due to 24hour delay curtosy of EXCEL airline).

Resort is a massive expanse of hotels and shops centered around a port, very busy and not exactly attractive.

Hotel has a very lacklustre lobby, not impressive when you arrive, with staff who selectively speak english,(depends if you are coplaining or they want your cash!).

Rooms are reasonable size, acon ok, bathrooms need refurb. Linen good, regulary changed, all balconies look on to sea.....and entertainment!!! Very noisey, all day from 7am when waiters have music on to lay the brekkie by, untill 12pm when music stops around the bar, don't bother with your own music.

All sunbeds gone by 8am, people putting towels down at 6am, when I complained (hotel has a non-reservation notice before 8.30am), I got nowhere.

Beach too very crwoded and all good beds gone early. Here you have the added problem that the beach staff reserve the beds for guests who tip them the night before.

Food adequate, got fed up with salad and meatballs...BBQ for 2 weeks gets boring folks. We were all inclusive so stuck it out. Lunch at the beach restaurant good however, if choice limited.

Never went in the pool, nor should you, couldn't see the bottom in the morning, beds all gone by 8am anyway. At 5pm when we returned from the lon hike up from beach the pools were full of balls and rubber toys, and the smell of the pump, well!!

All soft drinks are from coller dispensers and consist of multi coloured powder concoctions, no coke or branded choices. These also ran out. Coffee is like dishwater and when I asked for more granules I was given a sachy of nescafe and told not to tell anyone else!!

Could here guest next door, especially their baby and balcony not the most private place for a chat.

Italian and seafood a la carte restaurants a joke. We had a fish finger in one and a bread roll with wedges and bits of chicken in the other, rubbish.

Hotel 70% Russian who are the new rude and pushy types, taking over from our other european freinds.

Got bitten to death by sand fleas on the beach, came home with a cold as did my girlfriend from air con, we think, or from one of our other guests.

Trips were great and the saving grace. Ephusus very crowded though but worth it. Samos a lovely break from Kusadasi and made the trip back seem like a mistake.

All shopping has hassle thrown in, on your back all the time.

At the airport, marked prices were announced as old prices, the then tried to charge another 10 Euros for a 25 Euro bottle of brandy and 3 more for a 13 Euro pack of fags. Still cheap but they rip us off.

Never going back to Turkey, which my mother said she wouldn't do when she went to Istanbul 30 years ago.

Thet wont to join the EU...ha!

If you want a noisey, tiring, relax-free holiday with the kids, great, otherwise go somewhere else. All the other hotels are the same if not worse here. Look at the critical entries for Kusadasi and you get a truer picture than the latminute guys who were greatful to get a bed it seems.

Never again

We have just returned from the grand blue sky. And have had an absolutely fantastic holiday. We did not want to come home. The hotel was emaculate, the food fab, great choice never got bored of the food in the two weeks we were there, all inclusive basis. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The entertainment team made our holiday even better, all ways smiling and full of energy, keeping everyone entertained. This hotel was far better than I expected. Turkey itself is a beautiful country. And this is enhanced by the fab weather.
There is not one aspect of our holiday that I did not like. Amazing hotel and wonderful people, both the staff and the people we met there.

Thankyou Grand Blue Sky.

I would not hesistate to recommend this hotel to anyone. Great ffor both and quiet and a lively holiday, due to location.

What a wonderful holiday sue and I had.

The resort was above what we expected, the brochure does not give it justice. Clean, well presented, every room with a balcony and spectacular sea views, quite romantic. Also in the room is a mini bar containing soft drinks and water, this is free if you are all inclusive.

We arrived early hours of morning (2 hours travelling time from Bodrum) where a bellhop was waiting to whisk our bags away to our room.

Couple of hours sleep then down to the hotels private beach. Note:-This resort is not for the those who find difficulty climbing steps as the resort is built on the side of a steep bank. Sun beds and parasols are free as is the non-motorised water sports. During the day, we nipped over to the on beach bar for a couple of cool drinks before returning back to the sunbed. Towels are free as well. Coming off the beach, partway is another poolside bar, one for the road before dinner.

Evening entertainment was of reasonable quality, however can't comment much on it because we spent our time at the Poolside bar relaxing with friends and taking in the glorious sunset.
Food was adequate, certainly wouldn't starve. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. When we left the resort a couple of large tips was truly appreciated.

Kusadasi town was a pleasant experience, considerable amount of shop and eateries. Go with the knowledge you will be harrased. Let them know you are not off the boats if you intend to buy something, otherwise they will up the price. Euros seem to be the most accepted currency although Stirling has the most buying power.
A guide to those who want to buy fake designer shirts - I managed to buy them at £3 each.
For those who intend to go self catering prices for drinks in Kusadasi averaged about £2 per drink, £4 for a basic snack and £6-£10 for a bog standard evening meal. Sue and I certainly benefited by going all-inclusive.

Overall the resort, the people and the town is well worth the visit.

This was our 6th vist to the hotel.
The first time that we managed to get the kids along with partners. (aged 19 -25) They were so impressed that they are also returning 2005, this time on their own without the oldies.

The hotel for us has been a major part of our holiday, being always clean, generaly friendly, nothing too much trouble, in a great location. Very large rooms, all sea view, an all in one hotel

We have made a few friend (All Nationalties)through the hotel and stayed in touch, meeting up at the hotel year after year.

It is not every ones cup of tea as the site is rather steep, from beach to hotel. Recommend BandB only. As Ladies beach has enough resturants to eat in a differant one every night, and still not get to them all, although our favourite is still Rosy's, they do not attempt to hassel you in. it is always full.

My advise is try making friends with a turkish family (like we have) they will show you a differant Turkey.

The town is an old fishing village that grew into a city that has kept its own style.

Very good hotel, the staff all seemed very helpful and polite, the room was cleaned and the towels changed every day.The food at breakfast was very good lots of choice, the grounds were also well kept. The only two things we had problems with were the continuous piped music everywhere even on the beach.(But then maybe I'm just too old) and the evening restaurant by the beach, maybe because we went at the end of the season but half of the things on the menu they had run out of.

We took quite a few trips into Kusadasi by Dolmus which is very cheap 25000000 lira for 2,and it goes from right outside the hotel. Ladies Beach is very nice but we ran out of places to go on our second week. But a good hoiday the temperature when we left in early October was 28 degrees.

After reading the reviews beforehand i had an idea in mind of what i expected the grand blue sky to be like and i wasn't disappointed, the grounds are well kept the rooms are large and the maids put fresh bedlinen on every day, however we were on the third floor and our friends were on the ground floor their room was smaller than ours and right below them was the kitchen and they start early in the morning with breakfast!! so it does get noisy.

Don't expect anything fantastic for breakfast and you won,t be dissapointed. Evening buffet was very good but we ate out four or five nights just for a change. Animation team are very friendly. hotel staff are miserable.

Halikarnas on ladies beach is very good for food but the boys that run the place are fantastic they will do anything to please, you will find the turkish people extremeley pushy when going through the main area called centrum they will walk up to you put a polite no thank you is enough for them to back off, but on your first day out it can be a slight shock.

Do the boat trip it's good for all ages and the food is fantastic an excellent way to spend a day. Another must is the jeep safari do not wear your best clothes though in fact wear yesterdays, you will get really wet and really dirty, my husbands brand new white t shirt went straight in the bin on our return, expect the unexpected, on your first stop do not stand near the large tank of cold spring water or you will find yourself thrown in it by one of the tour guides yes i stood near the cold tank of spring water. but you do learn alot of the history along the way and the last stop off is long beach which is beautiful.

all in all we loved kusadasi and would go back again.

The hotel was situated in beautiful well tended gardens right on the edge of a hill. All rooms faced the sea, and had a great view. The only gripes we had were that the air conditioning was centrally timed. It went off at 8.30 am, just as you would be getting up or if you had a lay in it was too stuffy in the room and you had to have the balcony door open. It also was off intermittently during the day and evening which was annoying if you were in and couldn't put it on!

Also the pool area was far too small for the size of the hotel, and although the children had their own pool you could not swim in the six foot deep pool without being surrounded by a sea of water wings and inflatable creatures. Consequently we spent each day on the lovely private hotel beach.

The Turkish bath in the hotel was fantastic and well worth doing, the snack bar food was nice and the outdoor cocktail bar was a lovely way to begin the evening. The hotel has a credit system whereby you settle the food/drink bill at the end of your stay which saved having to change alot of money up, (most restaurants will change it at a better rate than banks do anyway), and I noticed an that lots of shops were charging in Euros rather than Turkish Lira (which has an exchange rate of two and a half million to the pound!) but the prices were still very reasonable for most things.

We did a half day trip to Ephesus, and a day boat trip both were great.
The town of Kusadasi was very nice - lots of restaurants, bazaars etc, and if you didn't want to get a dolmus there you could walk just outside the hotel to Ladies Beach which had lots of restaurants/bars shops - we enjoyed eating in ";Halikarnas"; ";Sea Garden"; and drinking in ";Monte Carlo"; particularly!

We felt very welcome in Kusadasi, and it had a nice mix of people and had something for everyone.

HOTEL
excellent, lovely spacious rooms and very clean friendly staff, no caring heavy bags to your room porters will bring them up for you. the hotel operates a credit card system for anything you buy in the hotel and the bill can be setteled on your last day all prices are in euros.

pools lovely and deep, grounds stunning and breakfast is served on the terrace with views right out to sea, watch out for the cat gang that can catch any titbits you throw for them. small private beach down long flight of steps very nice but beware sea very cold.

KUSADASI
a short ride on the dolmus away stops right outside the hotel every 5 mins the town was very busy and at times the constant calling to get you in their shops can be slightly off putting, but if you can go with the flow they are very friendly and we would not of missed it for the world.

EATING OUT
a short walk from the hotel brings you to ladies beach where a wealth of resturants can be found we eat at the HOTPOT where we enjoyed fantastic food, excellent service all at amazing prices, ray, sue and their staff will make you very welcome we ate there on the first night and didnt bother going anywhere else even emma enjoyed the food and thats a first!
