These apartments were sub standard. They were dirty, smelt. The shower rail fell off along with the balcony door handle as soon as you touched them. The shower tray was chipped and rusty. There were no adequate kitchen appliances, all the 4 mugs were chipped. The 2 sofa beds were unclean. I would certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Lovely quiet resort, but has everything you need - whether you want to chill out and relax or explore the surrounding areas. There are trips to suit everybody. The Dalyan Cruise was very worthwhile. I would only recommend the 12 Island Cruise if you like to jump off boats into clear blue seas - if you are not a swimmer like me it is pretty pointless! There are plenty of places to eat with menus that suit all palates.
I would recommend travelling across to Fethiye by Water Taxi - its a lot cooler. But be warned there is no breeze in Fethiye and it gets very very hot, try to go over on an evening, if you go the their market on Tuesday leave it as late as possible (about 5pm). The poppy apartments were very clean, the staff very very helpful and friendly and always available to ask questions or point you in the right direction. Its a quite hotel with just the right number of guests and lovely size pool. And make sure you have a turkish bath well worth it. Take a look at the jewellers a lot cheaper than you make think. The water park is not up to much, there are 5 slides with a small area for under 4 yr olds - ok for a couple of hours but you couldnt spend a full day there.
We will certainly be going back in the future both to Poppy and Calis. If you have any spare money then the accommodation is very cheap to buy out there!

the staff are exeptionally frendly very approachable ,we booked the horse riding from there ,good safe fun even for those with no experience .calis beach is a wonderfuly quiet resort just right for relaxation no hassle like you find in the likes of marmaris .fetihye is just a cheap dolmus ride away and is more lively but still brilliant for familys young and old .try a trip to gocek ,different again .we didnt eat in ,because the food in most restaurants was good but particulaly the calis beach and the harem .
had a fantastic time would go back tommorow poppy aparts exellent value for a relatively cheap holiday .

This was our fourth visit to Turkey but our first to Calis. We all felt relaxed and at home at the Poppy Apartments. The rooms are basic but clean. A kettle is provided along with a range of kitchen equipment. Air conditioning is available at £4.00 a day and a safe box at £1.00 a day. With a room cost of only £20.00 a day, we felt it was great value for money. The pool was clean, rarely crowded and sun beds are nearly always available. Food is available all day and is reasonably priced and of good quality.
The apartments are owned by Melanie and Cem and they really do make you feel welcome. Their staff seem to have been with them for a number of years and this really helps to create a nice family atmosphere. Many of their children played in the pool during our stay and they mixed well with the guests, were great fun and very sociable.
Melanie even drove us to Perma Ranch riding stables and rode with our daughter, who is an experienced rider and wanted a proper ride, not a treck. It was much appreciated by two non horsey parents.. The ride goes through Karakoy, a deserted Greek village. Pete and Norma, the stable owners were lovely people who made us all feel welcome. We loved the talking parrot.
It is our fourth visit to Turkey and prices really have shot up. Last year, we had a bottle of wine with every meal but this year, we stuck mainly to Efes and had wine with special meals. Our money didn't go half as far this time.
The highlight of this year's holiday without a doubt was a Jeep Safari. We went with Karacay Tours and I would recommend them. They only started doing the safaris in May but their jeeps are bigger than other companies and have plenty of padding on the jeep frame so you don't bang your head. It's a wonderful experience, driving through the mountains seeing all the little children running out to wave and shout hello. It's customary to throw them sweets. It's also hilarious to be pelted with water by the locals. They all join in the fun, even the older people. Prepare to get very wet, dusty and scream a lot! The safari took us to Tlos, Yakapark (a trout farm with fresh water springs. Even the bar has fish swimming round it), the Saklikent Gorge - an absolute must. It's awesome in size and the river is freezing. My husband and daughter did ";Funny Rafting"; and loved it. Finally, we went to Protara Beach, which is a lovely, long sandy beach where turtles lay their eggs during June and July. On the way back, they stopped at a petrol station to hose the jeeps down and to our surprise, the station had a swimming pool - a first for us.
We weren't very impressed with Calis Beach. It was very rocky, the sea was very choppy and there are no water sports.
Our favourite restaurant was The Ottoman Kitchen, which we nicknamed ";The Gingers"; on account of the two red headed, freckly Turkish brothers who own it. They are great fun, particularly Ali, who has the most memorable laugh we've ever heard in Turkey. We also liked The Orient Express. We found the food of a good standard in most places.
For a memorable evening, it is worth a visit to The King's Garden Restaurant, just in front of the Lycian tombs in Fethiye. They will pick you up from your hotel and take you back after your meal. While you dine under a canopy of grape vines with the tombs lit up behind you, you get a wonderful view of the sunset over Fethiye Bay.
We felt that Calis was a good place to base yourself. It is between Fethiye and Olu Deniz with good regular links to Fethiye by water taxi and dolmus. It has a small water park which was a little expensive but it passed a pleasant afternoon. There are enough bars, restaurants and clubs to keep most people happy. However, it is quiet enough for those that prefer a slower pace. We will return.
