What can I say about Ten Apart? This is the only place in the universe I would return to. The welcome you receive from Talip, Nesrin, Volcan and Sarapill is something you will never find anywhere else. This is the second time we have stayed here and plan to go every year from now. There are so many good things to say about these people that I just cannot put into words. Basically, we love them very, very much.

This was our second time in Turkey and in Chalis, the first time we had ever been back to the same resort which says a lot! We found Ten Aparts by looking on this website and were looking for self-catering for two people only. Look on Ten Aparts Website, what you see is exactly what you get but you can't see the warmth of the country or of the people in a photo.

The apartment was bigger than expected having a big kitchen/lounge and a very reasonable sized bedroom and a balcony big enough for two to sit at a table for breakfast. Adequatly equipped and very clean (cleaned daily, bed linen and towels changed 3 times a week). Mossie nets on the bedroom windows which did cut down the amount of bites considerably as I am a mossie magnet!! Aircon and safe box on request for a fee, but we didn't need either at the time we went but it was getting hot at night for the last 3 days.

Nesrin, Talip and all their staff are so friendly you will feel as if you have gone to stay with old friends by the time you have been there a day. They will give you help and advice if there is anything you want to do whilst in Turkey and will try to arrange it for you if you wish. When we arrived our bags were whisked away to our room for us and we were able to get down to the serious business of downing a couple of Efes (excellent Turkish lager) without any delay!

We flew with Thompsons which was trouble free and arranged a transfer with 10 Aparts which was perfect, met immediatly and travelled on a modern VW minibus with a driver who was very safe.
Chalis is pleasant and fairly quiet with a lot of restaurants and a few bars. Shops and stores are very good value. For food its not worth carrying it back from Fethiye as the prices are very comparable.

Calis beach itself is O.K not paradise but fine for a swim without having to go anywhere, also uncrowded when we went both times in June and September. There is always a pleasant breeze which is a Godsend at times. It is shingle and does get deep very quickly so no good for children/non swimmers.

TRIPS OUT: We went on the trip to Dalyan £12, Jeep safari (a must if you like a really silly day of fun and getting wet a lot!) £15 both of these with ";Seaside Tours"; excellent value including lunch (and a sneaky visit to the gold factory on Dalyan trip and carpet factory on the jeep safari, but I think you get stitched with that whatever company you use, however it MAY be worth asking if any one does a trip without this) When we came in 2004 we did the trip to Ephesus and Pammukale with Seaside tours which is a must do if you like ruins, a long trip but the guide who was very well informed made the time fly by. If you don't like organised trips you can go almost anywhere by Dolmus from Fethiye bus station. We did Saklikent Gorge (beautiful) and Kaya Koy (Ghost town, evocative) by this method very very cheaply.

Fethiye can be reached by Dolmus, water Dolmus or taxi and soon by walking around the promenade as they are extending this around the bay. Fethiye is very vibrant with the harbour full of boats and people trying to sell you a boat trip. Some are as cheap as £6 but these are a bit crowded we went to the 12 Islands on Popeye (other boat owned by same company Olive Oil) which is a sailing boat and it does half an hour of the trip under sail, but not when we went as there was no wind at all, still a very good day and excellent lunch for £10. This boat only had 35 people Max on it which makes for a very relaxing day.

EATING OUT: We ate at the apartments 3 times twice on their BBQ night which was fun and the food was excellent. Er-Oz on the beach at Calis very nice and serves cocktails to drink while you watch the sun go down over the mountains over the sea. In Fethiye The Duck Pond and Megri locantasi both of which were very good. We also tried a Turkish restaurant reccommended to us called Lezzet on a back street by the museum which was UNBELIEVABLY cheap and very good food, no alcohol and no smoking, so we went to the Duck Pond for a beer afterwards!!

We have just returned from our fortnight there and I could ramble on forever about what a wonderful place it is! If you want to go some where that is real and FUN, if you like warm friendly people who will have a laugh with you (or at your expense but they can take it back as well!) who will kiss you good bye after your second visit, and aren't looking for spotless sanitised ";perfection"; then Calis/Fethiye is the place for you.

Go, you'll love it. Now I am off to buy a lottery ticket so I can go back tomorrow.........wish me luck.

We've been to Calis Beach many times and are never disappointed by the resort or restaurants. The shingle beach usually has a gentle breeze blowing over it to keep you cool whilst sunbathing, and this year the costs for lounging on the beach totalled £7.50 per day for two sunbeds and a parasol. Some of the restaurants now even provide free matresses for their regular customers. The 'puller-inners' at the restaurants are very easy-going and polite; unlike some of the bigger resorts.

The accommodation was fine: spacious and clean with staff who were attentive without being too in your face. Beds and furniture are comfortable and air-con is available for a small surcharge. If you didn't want to be bothered going out the pool has both sun and shade available and was kept spotless.
It's probably been mentioned by others but if you want the ultimate in relaxation try one of the boat trips. You spend the day cruising to beautiful bays with swim-breaks in between and lunch is thrown in for about £8/head; the ultimate chill-out. If you take the trip to Gocek be warned that it is always hotter there as there in no breeze.

Fethiye is an easy Dolmus or water-taxi trip away and is well worth spending a day exploring.

The only problem we had was with the outbound flight with Excel Airways, as we were 18 hours late leaving. The attitude of their staff, when you could find them, left a lot to be desired, and the way in which they eventually consolidated ourselves and another flight onto a rickety old Jumbo(light hanging out of the ceiling) operated by their partners led to a lot of bad feeling. Have a chat to taxi and coach operators at Manchester for a picture of this year's performance of this airline's performance. No real apology but worse was to come.

Upon our return to the UK we complained to Anatolian Sky, they who had taken the booking and money, but they have simply ignored our emails. We sent two and initially left the matter for two weeks and then for about 36 hours. These were sent using their link on their website and gave them the opportunity to reply.
Sorry to be negative but I write as we found.
