"Fantastic Holiday!"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Open quote

Just returned from 10 days at MP. What a brilliant holiday! First time we have been all inclusive, so did not know what to expect, but it was brilliant. The facilities for kid is brilliant, and adults alike. The staff are very friendly and the cleanliness of the hotel is excellent. We upgraded to a sea view in the main building, which I would recommend. We also did a private transfer from the airport to hotel, which is money well spent, otherwise the transfer time could be over 2.5hrs. We will be going back next year.

"Don't get stung!"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Open quote

We were situated in the first block, the first thing that hit was the strong smell of Diesel, we reckon that ther was a Diesel store next the the block. Rooms were cleaned every day and towels changed, however the rooms were grubby and need refurbished we had several craked or missing tiles, the shower was poor also it was situated over an inclined bath and I found the footing quite bad. The air con was very noisy and poor.Food was ok but after 3 days of repetative food we had to eat out.We located ourselves at the bottom pools area, but had to move in day 4 due to the amount of bees swarming next to the pool, seven out of a party of ten got stung. Entertainment was very poor and not apprioprate for youngsters with numerous jokes about sex. Location is bang in the middle of Icemelar and Marmaris with a 20 min walk either way. Next time we will go to a more central area. Staff were generally ok, but beware an over-friendly waiter (Speedy) in the top pool area he was a pain, and made all the females in our party feel awkward. Would I go again yes, it was a budget holiday and you only get what you pay for!

"Good for families, not for couples"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Good

Open quote

What was once a lovely hotel in a quite beautiful spot has been expanded and downgraded to go for the young family market. It's now what I would expect Butlins to be like if they opened a branch in Turkey. If you have young children, but want the sun, then you would probably enjoy it as there are lots of children's facilities.

If you are a couple over 30 without children along then choose somewhere else. From 10am in the morning they have thumping pop music blaring from speakers by the main swimming pool that goes on until late. The outdoor buffet dining area is pleasant enough but can be overcrowded, frequently with uncontrolled children running around with plates of food, so you have to be quite careful. The food is adequate but average quality - probably what you'd expect at a 3 star Spanish Hotel. But the breakfast is particularly poor. The orange juice was squash, and the traditional English breakfast isn't available at all - there's no bacon. The baked beans were like bullets. We went down the road and got a good breakfast with bacon and heinz beans for about £2, so I can't see why the hotel can't offer it. The hotel entertainment is low grade and mainly for kids. There is no entertainment at all inside the hotel except for a disco with more blaring rubbish, and the internal bar which is next to the reception is dismal and quite depressing.

In summary ,a good choice if your main concern is to keep the kids happy, but for couples there's a lot better hotels in icmeler.

What a hotel. The main building is in need of refurbishment but the outer villas were well maintained and cleaned daily. Food/Drink was varied with something for everyone including the most fussey eaters. We never had to queue up for a drink at the bar and always found a table to eat outside. Meal times are busy so its best either going early or later to prevent queuing for the fresh meats which are grilled etc at every meal sitting. Breakfast is the best as you can have cereal, full cooked breakfast, pancakes, fresh fried eggs, waffles or danish pastries etc. The snack bar next to the amphitheatre is ideal for snacks, salads, pizza etc and has a lovely view of the beach and a self service next to the lower relaxing pool. The entertainment team are brillant, speaking in several languages and dont mither you to join in if you just want to sit back and relax. There is a kids club but my 11 & 5 year old were too busy in the pool or mini water park to have time to go most of the time although they did go fishing with them one afternoon. Be warned there is a club dance which they play about once an hour and they encourage everyone to jump up when they hear the song, my kids loved it! Evenings are spent around the bar areas and amphitheatre where there is a show put on by the entertainers nightly, some not very professional but they do try. There is an outward bound course wihtin the trees that surround the hotel which costs about £15 each but is well worth it, my husband and kids loved it although I was shaking just watching them! Taxi's into Marmaris town are about 20 TL and only takes 5 mins but you could walk this along the promenade which goes to Iclemer of Marmaris. Iclemer is limited to several restaurants and a few stalls along a canal but only tourist merchandise. Marmaris is like Blackpool were you get approached by people selling fake designer items etc. Also the bars/restaurants are very expensive. Overall this hotel was fabulous, one of the best we have stayed in when visiting Turkey. Excellent Food, Accommodation, Location, and Facilities including an outdoor iceskating rink under the hotel and we will definately be going back in October 09. Tip: Book Flights and Accomodation seperately as this is much cheaper also we used a private transfer from the airport (Folotravel) which were excellent.

I have just returned from two weeks at the Marmaris Palace and loved it. We were a party of eleven. If you are not travelling through a travel agent book your transfers with a private company. It is so much cheaper and you get there before everyone else. They just show a plaque with your name at the airport. I cannot fault the Marmaris Palace at all. The hotel is spotlessly clean. Tables are cleared very quickly.Staff work so hard so that your stay is an enjoyable one. We sunbathed at the beach everyday. Manmade, but ok.Clean beach towels everyday. Near to the beach bar and beach snack bar. We got up at 8.30 each morning and always got 11 sunbeds and always got a table in the snack bar. Water sports on the beach cheap and very organised.I am 40 and loved the skydiving. The lads that we were with loved the volleyball, esp when the played the waiters. Slides great for the kids, could not get them off. Iceskating an experience, you have to try it. Entertainment staff great. They really want you to join in.The entertainment is outside away from the hotel, so no noise. I got up on our last day and loved it.The hotel is set in the woods so even in October and hot the trees give good shade. This would be even better in the summer when it is 40 deg. We only went to the turkish bath on our last day and regret that we did not do it sooner. Its lovely and you feel so clean after. The only downside would be this is not a hotel for people who have difficulty walking. It is quite hilly but you do walk off all the AII Inclusive from the night before. The lobby bar is 24hours for alcohol and you can get bottles of water for the room there. I have also never felt so safe in a hotel as this one. I cant wait to return as I know I will have a fantastic holiday the next time round.

"Marmaris palace - OK ?"

I stayed here last week, for a week. I was expecting a really good hotel and like all my trips I don't pay too much attention to all the reviews. I have stayed all inclusive in a number of hotels over the years and always go for 5star to ensure a better standard of food and accomodation. I am also a bit pragmatic about the use of the term 5star, as I have found 5star in the UK is not the same as Turkey or Greece, which you kind of expect.

Summary.... Hotel was in a good location, easy bus travel to Marmaris etc. Hotel had a nice reception area, if a little dark. Rooms were starting to show their age, damaged curtains etc. Rooms kept clean. Staff attentive and helpful. Facilities especially sports where abit ragged round the edges. 5 A Side pitch, damaged goal and nets etc etc. Food biggest disappointment. Menu the same every day. You are not shown to your dinner table in the evening, kids canteen style rush. You have to get your own drinks at dinner (Really not 5star). You have to get in early for dinner, not enough tables. No bacon or sausage at breakfast. No meat for the entire stay, some fish, mainly chicken. No Turkish food, even the kebabs were chicken. All inclusive snacks very poor, they had schnitzels with 'Daddies' sauce. Schnitzels brown around the edges. The kids club appeared to be good.

If you have kids and don't mind eating 'Euro' goop, you will have a good time as the kids are looked after, if your kids have flown the nest and your looking for a nice place to relax, dine well and taste good wine etc..Dont go. Oh by the way, I too read all the reviews prior to travel, and thought to myself that looks a bit over the top, before I went on holiday, it's your choice I've been there and got the Marmaris Palace T shirt, I really wouldn't recommend and wouldn't go back again. You pays your money and you takes your choice. Thanks.

Wasn't 100% sure when i booked it but took the chance on all inclusive in Turkey at this hotel and i wasn't let down.Hotel facilities very good, staff were excellent, very well mannered.Room was good and close to pool area and all other facilities were close to hand.Food was 1st class and the good part about the meals was that my 3 daughters could make use of the seperate kids section that they provide which consisted of chips, nuggets, chicken burgers, pasta, sausages, rice and also desserts that they could eat as well.Animation team, again were second to none with a different display on every night that we were there.Pool side entertainment again was excellent where kids and older members of the family could join in.What i did find very professional was the fact that they had a guest relations person there to sort out any problems that you may have had but i didn't have any at my time at this hotel.I can honestly say that over the years i have been going abroad, this has to be the best holiday i have had and thats down to the hotel and all the staff at Marmaris Palace.

We have just returned from a 12 day break at the Marmaris Palace and found it to be one of the best hotel complexe's we have stayed in over the many years of travelling abroad. Rooms in the main building need refurbishing but the bungalows are new and cleaned daily with fresh towels etc. Hotel facilities for all are excellent whether you just want to relax or try the many activities ongoing throughout the day. You are not pressured into joining in and the animation team do an excellent job speaking in all languages. Food was varied and something for everyone although a little busy at times in the dining area. The snack bar by the beach has salads, burgers, chips/wedges etc daily if you dont want to walk upto the main restaurant and the breakfast is great with pancakes, waffles, toasties, cererals, fruits, omelettes and fried eggs made whilst you wait. The staff are all very helpful and I would definately go back. A great holiday had by all and also can work out cheap if you get your cheap flights early and hotel seperate with a transfer via folo travel which offer an excellent service with new vehicles and the cheapest transfer price of £90 return for a minibus. Enjoy as much as we did and will again!!

Just returned from a week at Marmaris Palace, booked as a late deal. Flights were good and on time but the transfers to the resort were long, 2 hours approx. However the coaches were airconditioned and comfortable. Check-in at the hotel was effecient and after being given our all inclusive wrist bands, which were quite attractive, we were shown to our rooms. THERE ARE A LOT OF STEPS!!! Initially I was disappointed with the room. We had a garden bungalow which is set in the pine trees and was very dark. Quite glad of it towards the end of the week as the heat was oppressive. The room had airconditioning and was quite spacious with a good bathroom, but it did lack drawer space. Total of three very small drawers and one double wardrobe for three adults. This meant we had to live out of the suitcases. Our friends had a room in the main building, a mini suite infact, made up of a twin bedded room and an adjoining room with a double and single bed in. Each had its own balcony. This also had no drawer space but it did have views to die for. The food was edible but not catering for english palates. We do like to sample local cuisine when on holiday but only on the Turkish night was this on offer. Plenty of salad and fruit available thankfully. Getting it without getting pushed and shuvved by the other guests was more of a problem. The Russian contingency were very rude. On one occasion a Russian woman pushed infront of a queue a loaded her plate with the whole contents of a tray of beef leaving everyone else in the queue flabbergasted! The activies available were good and the grounds kept very clean. There are plenty of comfortable sunbeds and no need to panic to get a good spot. There are no umbrellas but there are plenty of shady spots available which we were glad of as the temperature was nearly 40 degrees most days! The staff were lovely. Very polite, particulaly with the english guests. A smile goes a long way. The entertainment was ok. There is a photographer in the hotel who will persecute you to take your photos either on the beach or around the pool. You can pick the ones you like and he prints them at various sizes. Prices range from 12ytl. He is very professional and we got some nice pictures. The walk from the hotel into Icmeler took about 30 minutes but it was quite pleasant and had better lighting than the route into Marmaris which took about 45 minutes and was poorly lit in some areas. Icmeler was a far nicer area than Marmaris. There are a lot of places to book trips in Icmeler and are a lot cheaper than booking with the tour operator. Try Jimmy Boys boat trip. Nice food, which was included, plenty of drinks which were not, but for 20ytl each for a seven hour trip we thought it was good value for money. Dalaman airport was a nightmare. Chaotic! We were glad to get out of it. Be warned. £10 for 1 double cheese burger, 1 cheese burger and small fries (no drinks) from Macdonalds. Eat before you get there. All in all a nice hotel, nice area, nice staff, nice weather. Couldn't have asked for more.

Been back from Marmaris Palace for 2 weeks.Wish we were still there.

Had a great time.Hotel was amazing. So many things to do for all ages.We just had 2 small gripes. When we arrived from a very long day and night at 8.30 am and were shown to our room we found it overlooked the entrance fourcourt of the hotel with a constant stream of very loud coaches. As we had booked the holiday 6 months before we felt that these should have been the last minute bookers rooms. We complained but the receptionist said we would have to wait untill tomorrow.

We had a sleep got changed and went down to the pool. There were no sunbeds so we went to the 2nd pool.Same story so we went to the beach and jettys.Guess what? no sunbeds.By this time I was fuming and thinking why have we come here?So I stormed off to reception and had a moan about the sunbeds. She told me they were waiting for a delivery of new ones so I told her about our room and she immediatly offered us another one(so much for waiting for 2morrow)We had a look at it and said yes.

Thats when the holiday changed for the better.I have never been in a hotel so full.If you went down to dinner after 7.30 there were no tables outside. There was so much food you wouldnt belive it all lovely and something for everyone.I did get sick of the lager (tuborg)by the end of the week. The other reviews that said about the arrogant Russians are all true.We went to the beach one day and there was 1 sunbed with just a childs t-shirt on so I put it on the bed behind and lay on the bed.20 mins later she came back and started zzqptiedzz at me.I just shrugged and stayed where I was.And she didnt even need the bed!

The setting of the hotel was the most beautiful we have ever been to.You are surrounded by mountains covered in pine trees and the sea is so blue. The hotel hasnt got a beach as such just jetties and a concrete wall that you can step down into the sea but it is really lovely.Out and about Marmaris is very big and spread out and Ichmelar is smaller and quieter.A good bar in Ichmelar is Dreamboys.Good music silly shows and a man who swings from the roof with a tray of drinks on his head!!!We booked a trip to the mud baths but be warned, we were told that the boat would be only half full so everyone could have a sunbed but when we got there it was packed. It was a very long day the coach picked us up at 8.15,the boat left at10.20,21/2 hours at sea, transfer to small boats, 1 hour to mud baths 1 hour at mud baths 1 1/2 back via Lycian rock tombs 1 hour at turtle beach 2 1/2 at sea back at 7.30.Also the lunch was horrible so if you go take plenty of food and drink.

Sorry to ramble but to sum up the hotel was great and if it was in Kusadasi it would be 100 out of 10.Turkey never lets us down and I would reccomend it to anyone.Hope you enjoyed my review and that it helps you in any way.

We have just returned from our 7 night stay at the Marmaris Palace Hotel. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The food was plentiful and hot although a bit repetative after a few days but still good for all inclusive.
The all inc drinks are failry more limited than we are used to, only gin vodka brandy, wine and beer, but still this was plentiful and the cocktails were nice. Only discovered the marmaris palace cocktail on the last night, tasted lush just like tropical fruit juice so had a few too many! All of the soft drinks were branded such as diet coke, coke, sprite and fanta.

We had a bungalow near to the hotel, In my opinion the hotel isn't as big as some people have made out on this site, we walked around the whole of it end to end and didnt find it very tiring at all.
We were situated right in front of the childrens play area which was covered in the pine trees this made our room lovely and cool, the maids cleaned really well and were so helpful, on the first day i asked for more bed linen and pillows and she came straight back with them not a problem at all.
The only thing we did find is that the disco didnt end till 12.30am and was really loud, on a few nights where we wanted to get to bed as we needed to be up early we found this to be a pain, but even though this was loud they did turn all music off at 12.30am on the dot, so at least you knew to either stay out till after this time or read until 12.30!Our rooms were 736 and 737, there was a 2 min walk to the meal and reception/pool area.
The staff were all friendly to us and we had no problem with the turkish men as previously stated. We would return to this hotel as we had a great time. The trips from the harbour were really cheap, much cheaper than we have ever paid abroad before.£8 for a day trip to dalyan and the turtle beach to see the tombs and lunch as well which we thought was fab.

There are pedaloes and canoes on the front that the hotel supply that you can use inclusive of your package.
We however (from the same place directly in front of the hotel) hired jest ski's £15 for 18 mins and then a speed boat for an hour £40 then also para sailed £20 each.We though this was brilliant value for money for water sports and the men running this were really nice, well set up and safe.
We also had a set of photos taken by the hotel photographer by the pool, well worth the money he is really good.We let him take lots then just picked the ones we liked best 80 turkish(£28) for 10 large portraits. You need to haggle like everything else unless you are happy paying his price!
We paid £30 to keep our room open for late checkout on our last day.You can pay in turkey for most things with euros, turkish or english, english being the best for them.
As previosuly mentioned the other nationalities can take over a little, at the start of our week we were the only british at the hotel, we soon learned to barge our way past them as they did to us, if you cant beat them join them! ;-)

All in all a good holiday, good food, very pretty location, enjoy

Just returned. Bit dissapionted definatley not 5 star, just about 4. Felt like we were being squeezed for every lira from the time we left the plane [£10 to enter country], to the journey to Hotel[stopped 1/2 way for 'refreshments'] to having a better waiter service[drinks waiting at table in exchange for numerous tips]so take plenty of money.
The room was very clean and fresh towels daily. No probs with mosiqitoes but lots of wasps. Beautiful scenic veiws, lots of trees though in Hotel grounds. No problems with getting sunbeds, no towels at dawn!! Weather lovely, only few spectacular thunderstorms.
Dreaded rude russians but no problems at all, in fact the only ones causing noise were british.

After first week, meals monotinuous and alcoholic drinks awful, dreadful plastic beakers just like babies beakers without lids.
Recomend a Turkish shave, hubby had the best haircut ever [at Hotel]
Night entertainment great but only on for 40 mins and other times nothing to do, our teens very bored.
Markets worth a visit, take plenty of £10 notes, good for haggling.
Turkeys not for us, felt under constant pressure to part with money and found it difficult to relax even within Hotel grounds [photographer, boatman, diving and beauty spar daily rounds].

Take care at airport giong home as very expensive for food.

First time at Marmaris Palace and a bit dubious of going because of the reviews we had seen. Hotel is beautiful and in a lovely setting. Rooms were very spacious and clean but the Air Con was centrally managed and not very good.

Lots of pools/beach jetty's to choose from which is nice depending on if you have children or just want to relax.

Entertainment fantastic! This is the best holiday we have been to where the day and evening entertainers are extremely talented and put on brilliant shows. We could not fault them.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. They could not do enough for you, however if you want a late check out it is a bit of a performance but we did eventually get told in the late morning of the day we were leaving that it would be possible!

I am afraid to say that the only way I can explain the meal times is ";Feeding time at the Zoo";. Food was mediocre - Lots of choice and good if you have children but usually the food was luke warm . Heaven forbid if you wanted a drink with your meal. What a performance!

The set up of meal times was manic. You ended up sitting on dirty tables because there was not enough staff to clear and then trying to forage around for cutlery. There are rooms to eat inside but obviously everyone wants to eat outside. We attempted to eat in the restaurant twice (Turkish Night was better than the first night but still bedlam) and then ended up paying to eat in the A la Carte Restaurants and restaurants in Icemeler which were so much better and you could enjoy a relaxing meal. Snack Bar was brilliant as all freshly cooked Turkish breads/pizza's etc and obviously all inclusive drink so that kept us happy!

The Turkish bath was fantastic and you must book a treatment just to experience the whole tradition.

Although there are some negative remarks the positive outshone this and we had a wonderful holiday and the bar staff were great characters. Brilliant for kids as so much for them to do. You probably won't see them much!

Turkey is a beautiful country to visit and we hope you have a fantastic time.
