HOTEL-We were initially very dubious about tis holiday as it was so cheap, (£260 each for 2 weeks bandb) and when we arrived at the hotel to the tiny tiny room, we wondered what we had let ourselves in for, however, it was clean and cool, (as we purchased air con at £20/week) and when we went to have a drink at the bar the first night, found the friendliness and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel and it's staff more than compensatory. The staff were great, and couldn't do wnough for you, although the only seemed the be the rule for as long as you were spending money at the hotel. We did notice that we were ignored by staff when they did not receive comisson from jewellery we bought in Marmaris. We also found the ";where are you going? when will you be back? eat here"; hassle from the bar staff tedious. We liked to eat somewhere different every night, and the staff were obviously upset that we only ate there 3 times in 2 weeks (which I thought was plenty).

The RESORT was very very Blackpool-plenty of cheesy karaoke bars and neon lights, but some of the clubs were quite good, although they only seemed to play about ten songs, then repeat them over again!

Many people of Marmaris are very welcoming and come and chat to you, making a real effort, but we found that a minority only want your money, will be nice for so long, then get very shirty if you don't buy. This was a nightmare when looking for jewellery.

The men are also very very sleazy-I could cope with it in the first week, but it really irritated me in the second week. NEVER GO IN A GROUP OF GIRLS-I was with my fiance, but everytime his back was turned they were trying to get me to go off with them alone-it was horrible and very degrading. I also found some men shocked that I look after bills and paid for dinners etc rather than my partner-sometimes I felt there is very little respect for women-espacially english girls, who I think they beleive to just be very easy!

I'm going on like it was terrible, and it really wasn't-we had a FAB HOLIDAY-u just need to be aware of these things so you can be on your guard a little bit and stick by 'no means no'. None of this ruined our holiday, and all in all it was money really well spent-we've had a wicked time, and I would recommend Marmaris, but I wouldn't go again.

Also, if you stay at Aloe, ALTANTIS and FIDAN restaurants and only round corner, do bogof drinks all night, and food is cheaper, better and you get more of it than Aloe!

GOLDTRAIL were also very good, and our rep Mark was genuinely lovely, and wanted to help you wherever possible.

Recently back from a week in Marmaris and we loved it. This was my second trip and Marmaris has lots to do. After a short delay at Cardiff, we arrived at the Aloe Hotel at 9am. The room was a bit on the small side with no fridge but very clean. Air conditioning is a must at only £20 p/w. The staff were fabulous! Very friendly and caring to everyone. The atmosphere at the hotel was great and the hotel had lots of hot water - which is sometimes hard to find in Turkish hotels. Everyone was having fun at the Hotel and most evenings, after returning from a meal out - everyone was sat round the bar having a laugh! We'd like to say thank you to all the staff - Batman, Tony, Robin, Alex, September and everyone else.

At one point, my partner left his bag at a waterpark. Upon returning to the hotel, our rep (Mark) rang the park immediately. Tony (the barman) took my partner to the waterpark within 5 mins of the call and he retrieved his bag! Thank you so much for that!

The Weather was great, it hit at least 40 degrees most days, so the pool was a wonderful relief. The pool area wasn't the biggest but sufficient.

I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone, although perhaps not families as there isn't much for kids to do at the hotel. If you do venture to the Aloe Hotel in Marmaris say hi from Jess and Scott (or Scotch as they called him) from Cardiff!!!!!!

This is the second time the wife and I have been to Marmaris.

Although it is a large resort we find it not overpowering and the people pleasant. There are lots of boat trips around the local islands or out to sea which we would recommend and are excellent value. The jeep safari is a must, but take water guns for added enjoyment. Although rated as a 2 star, the hotel is of a good standard and the rooms are cleaned most days. The pool is very clean and the staff are really helpful. The one downside to the Hotel is you can hear the bar noise at night when trying to get to sleep. We tried food at various restaurants, but found the Hotel food the best. The Hotel is off the main drag in an ideal position being central. Imported drinks like Baileys are expensive in the bar, but local drinks are reasonably priced.

We took our friends with us and they want to come next year, so all in all Marmaris is a great place with something for everyone and Hotel Aloe is a great place to stay.

As this was our first visit to Turkey we found Marmaris to be bustling, hectic but delightful. The majority of the people are friendly and can't do enough for you and we made friends with several nice bar managers and staff. In particular we visited the Rovers Return every morning for breakfast and sometimes evening meal, The Rose and Crown for the cheap beer and friendly welcome (Ronaldo and Mario. The Portofino was also cheap and the staff helpful and friendly. When we retunr next year we will definately look up these new friends.

We found it almost impossible to stroll along the beach without waiters hassling you to patronise their restaurants, we were even grabbed by the arm and dragged to a table at one point which my wife found rather distressing, so we avoided the beach front at night which was a shame as the view is spectacular. So we regularly shared our evenings with our favourite restaurants which was relaxing.

The hotel was average, every room has a balcony but the rooms never look like the brochure pictures. We were astounded to find out that the air conditioning was extra, we thought it was in with the price, this was £3 per room per day and we had 2 rooms! Our conditioner unit gave out the most awful smell so we couldn't sit on the balcony. It wasn't even very cooling! Eventually they came and fixed it the second week but we could still get a slight smell and it only blew a little cooler. A friend in the hotel turned on his shower which promptly fell off! None of the showers have any curtains or cubicles so the water goes everywhere, the drain for the shower was just a hole in the ground with no cover on which I found dangerous if you have curious little ones.

The swimming pool is average, no ones watches what goes on in there so be vigilant with the little ones, there were teenagers even swimming late at night. The prices are a little dearer than in the town centre so after eating the first night we decided to have a stroll around to find other bars but the waiters were constantly asking where we were going, why, for how long, will we come back etc which got us annoyed after a few days so we tried to sneak out while no one was there. Silly really, it was our holiday and we should feel comfortable going anywhere we please.

My wife highly recommends the turkish bath which costs £10. If you pay less than this be aware that you will be charged extra for the steam room and massage when handing your locker key in. We booked via the rep. Also we booked a boat trip via the little travel shops that are dotted around. We paid over the odds for it. I recommend you go direct to the harbour and this cuts out the middle man. For a day trip via the harbour it would have cost £6 each. We paid £9.50 each and the boat wasn't as nice. Infact my wife had terrible diarrohea the friday night and all day sat so I don't recommend eating the chicken and rice on board. You can take your own food/drink rather than pay over the odds aboard.

Icemeler market on a wednesday is a must to visit. Marmaris not that good.

Overall the holiday was great, the hotel so so, but we have booked to return next year but to Icemeler which is a lot quieter than Marmaris as we compared this to Blackpool. Great for the younger ones but we like to relax at night. Also you don't get hassled as much walking along the sea front.
