excellent would visit again - didn't want to come back to this cold weather was very clean and safe

All of the malls are a must, especially Mall of the Emirates and the Madinat Souk. The Madinat seems to be a bit more cultural, they were selling traditional cushion covers and little bits and bobs. The Italian restaurant there was also lovely.

This was our second visit to Dubai and Jumeirah Beach Hotel and it was even better than the year before!

We arrived at the Hotel at abot 4.00am, the airport was a bit of a nightmare because of the building work on the Emirates Terminal- although they are very accomodating and try to make it as stress free as possible!

The check in process was quick and easy and we were lead up to our room which was a balcony room. We were on a different floor this time but the room was just as lovely as the last, it was clean and very well stocked with all the little extras!

The building work did not cause any problems for us at all, we had a balcony room so were over looking the work but it was fine, did not spoil the view of the beach and the Burj al Arab.

We eat in two of the hotel restaurants, the English Pub, the food in there was fine- probably like a pub meal in England. We had breakfast in Latitude every morning which was divine! The choice was amazing! We also had an evening meal in Latitude which was out of this world, it was the best meal we've ever had!

The pool was very clean and had no problems with the sunbeds, I think we were up a little earlier than the previuos year to get a sunbed as some people were a little 'territorial'!

We went to the Wild Wadi again, it had had a refubishment since the previous year, i was a bit shocked to see that they had taken the blue paint from the bottom of the pool and is now concrete coloured, I found it a little gritty on my feet and looked a little murky but the slides were as good as ever!

We went to all of the malls again, which were bigger and better than the year before, the Mall of the Emirates has had the amusement area made considerably bigger, we loved it!

I would reccommend Dubai and this hotel to anyone, its absolute paradise and we will be going back!

Really a place to relax and enjoy forget the shopping you can do that any time at home in the same shops as there.

Fantastic destination for a family - during the day plenty to do - the beaches are super clean and the food is great. Shopping is awesome

By far the best hotel i have stayed in and i keep going back (4 times in total) The service and the amenities are second to none and location is great - The last time i went i stayed for a week and they really made me feel like i was home .... pity it had to end. Fantastic choice of food in the Madinat resort and a very authentic Souk.

Dubai is a must see destination. They have over 45 projects on the go over the next 10 years, mainly out towards the desert where they are building, building, building and they are making the airport bigger to cope with the expected influx of visitors. All in all a fab time was had and definitely on the list of places to re-visit.

What can I say that others haven't already - it's a fantastic place to stop. We chose this hotel as our first stop in Dubai and then onto the Burj Al Arab for one night, before flying off to Mauritius to get married. It's just perfect. Very hot in August, so don't go if you can't stand the heat ! A little way down the waterway in an Abra there is a Souk which also have a few eating places - the Noodle Bar was my favourite.

Although the building work did not have a detrimental effect on my stay at the hotel it did however stop me having the perfect view.

Having said that the hotel was fabulous and the restaurants were all to die for - we tried them all

Even in the day the hotel had such a relaxed atmosphere you would not believe how many people were staying there.

I would reccommend this hotel to everyone

Stayed at the Sofitel Dubai, this was an excellent place to stay we had an excellent rom with oustanding views of the creek. We also had access to the executive lounge, Staff are great! This hotel is so different to others with access to the shopping mall by taking the elevator to level 2. The mall is very big and also has many differnt places to eat bit of british, chinese, macdonalds, iranian, you name it they have it.

Great service and would definetly stay here again.

We stayed at the Royal Ascot Hotel in Bur Dubai, it is a 4 star hotel and it is value for money. The staff are very helpful The rooms are very clean, accept for the club that is situated right next door can keep you awake with all the loud music, if you're a heavy sleeper, you'll get away with it. Breakfast is buffet and has a mixture, the head waiter can be a bit annoying rushing people to eat so they can clear the tables. Other than that all is good. Taxis from the hotel can be run on the meter but local taxis are easy to find. Would recommend eating at local restuarants, get a taxi to Al Minah road, many restaurants and places to eat for cheap prices. overall would stay here again!

Only problem with hotels outside Deira/Jumeirah area is its off the beaten track and you have to flag a taxi down to go ANYWHERE!! That in itself can be a task. Some hotels have their own taxi's that can take you but generally charges double that of normal taxis. Dubai museum IS good though and only about 50p to visit! Personally wouldnt go back to Dubai ever again. They have gone mad on commericalism - building absoloutely anywhere they can!! Dubai now purely focuses on business/enterprise/selling property. It is all money, money and more money and there is absoloutely nowhere for visitors to see the true authentic Dubai we were led to believe existed. No facilities at all for tourists really. All the shopping malls are pretty average and largely have a lot of UK leading stores ie Debenhams, M&S, Next, Peacocks etc. The souks/kamara are not what they used to be either (partner went 10 years ago and now, after this visit, hates the place!). They badger the life out of you at the Kamara to go into their shops to buy "original fake handbags/watches etc". Souks are good value but not really worth a special visit as an authentic Dubai sight in my opinion.If you do want a decent pint of Guinness/english pint with a good meal try the Irish Village pub. Pricey but worth it for a lovely cold pint! A truly disappointing holiday that we will never repeat.

June 08 - Great hotel/apts.Booked via Expedia and got a good deal. Only 10 mins from airport. We had the one bedroomed apt which is great - huge rooms with 2 bathrooms which is a bonus. The hotel has NO tourist info/facilities so you're on your own re finding places to go/visit. You need to flag a taxi down to go anywhere which is a total nightmare. Taxi drivers can also hardly ever find the hotel! Best to direct them to Ramada Continental on Abu Hail and then once you get there, you take the alleyway road to right of Ramada and straight on - then you're at Almanar Apts/Hotel.No social area/bar of course either so its your room and dining room and thats it. The pool on roof is good but the pool side bar/snack area didnt exist when we were there. Staff are very friendly however and helpful. Standard of rooms/cleanliness is excellent. MAJOR BUT !! - they are building a hotel or appts (or something) immediately next door to the hotel so building work ongoing from now to probably end of 2008? You cant see out of windows because of dust and its too noisy/hot to want to. Views are non existent so dont choose this place for views or location!! Personally I would recommend finding a hotel closer to Deira or Jumeirah where you may not need to get taxi's so much.

I loved it, Dubai is expensive dont be fooled by tax free, shopping is expensive at the malls, that have Debenhams etc, how dull!! The souks are fun. Go tot he Diamond Centres foor jewellry. There isnt much to do at night and whilst I would go back I wouldnt take children again as there is nothing fo rthem at night

I stayed here in May 2008 with my husband and son, and was upgraded on arrival as we had to wait for a room. The staff are great, friendly, professional. The hotel is super clean and the facilities are superb. There is no falseness about this hotel, holiday makers are friendly. My son was taken ill in Dubai, and at 5 years old and being stuck there for an extra week, I could not fault the hotel, they did more for me that anyone, making sure we was ok, that regualr cars were organised to take us to and from the clinics. Virgin airlines were dire, luckily Katherine in the business centre is great at the hotel, the DR and paramedics are great and all the staff are genuinely lovely. I have stayed at Jumeriah Beach Resort also, dont waste your money go for the Le Royal Merdian Beach Resort and HOtel you will not regret it!!!!!
