This holiday was a surprise birthday treat for a special birthday. I arrived at Dubai Aiport at 1am in the morning and was very impressed with the airport on how clean and immaclant the airport was. The staff was very efficient and they arranged a car to take us to our hotel, as soon as we left the airport Dubai was just amazing and just got better the longer we was there.

When we arrived at the hotel, there was just a real buzz and the staff couldn't do enough for us they even pressed the button for the lift. Our room was fantastic it was very spacious and up to date we had a brillant view of the Burj Hotel which was lit up at night. The view also looked over the hotel's private beach and marina. The window was floor to ceiling and you could also see the hotel's many swimming pools and beach restaurant.

There was numerous restaurants in the hotel so we was spoilt for choice, for breakfast we preferred the beach restaurant as it had a nice view overlooking the beach and wasn't to busy. During the day we mainly stayed around the pool and the staff continuoly came round giving you ice cold flannels and ice lollies to keep you cool, and went down to the beach in the afternoon. The atmosphere was very relaxed. To get around the jumeriah complex there was golf buggies which ferryed you around and was free. Security is very tight and you are continually asked for your name and room number when entering and leaving the hotel. We also went to the Wild Wadi Water Park which makes a fantastic day for all the family, the good thing about this is that the Water Park is open to the Jumeriah Guests for an hour before being opened to the public, this is free and you also get free transport to and from the park. We also went into the Burj hotel for a look around we found the hotel very posh and too upmarket for our liking and we are glad we are staying at the other hotel.

One afternoon we did the Jeep Safari oven the dessert this was an amazing experience and we got to experience the real Dubai, and would recommend this. There are plenty of shopping malls which is a shoppers paradise.

I would recommend Dubai to anyone especially the Jumeriah Beach Hotel and also to travel with Emirates Airline as there service was impeccable.

This has got to have been the best holiday we've ever had.

Ok, its expensive, but worth every penny for the experience. The service is absolutely perfect, there were over 50 nationalities working at the hotel and they are all so friendly/charming/nothings a bother. The alcohol is expensive (they dont approve so obviously dont encourage it)the meals were superb; there are 22 places in the hotel to eat. We tried Go West, and the English pub Dhow and Anchor (for fish and chips, how ridiculous - but delicious); also La Veranda so we could eat outside (but spotted a very large cockroach; so ate up fast). We were executive club class, so had access to private pool and beach; much better as it was very quiet. The pool and sea were around 29c, fabulous! Ive never felt warm sea in my life. The courtesy bus to the emirates shopping mall runs/returns every hour. (price up the household items in Carrefour - very cheap) but the real bargains are in the souks.

The gold/diamond mall (about £7.50 in the taxi) is just the most fascinating place ...a large expanse of nothing but jewellers!every concievable thing in gold that you can imagine and the biggest diamonds i have ever seen. And while theres obviously a lot of competition, they dont hassle you in the way they do in every other country ive been to. Another day we got a taxi to the Bur Jaman in Karama. The taxi driver dropped us in a very non-tourist/residential area (my tourist book said they dont always know the areas). We stumbled upon the Karama shopping mall, where we were almost beseiged by a couple of very keen salesmen, to look at their selection of ";gucci, rolex, etc etc etc";. One guy (Ali) we couldnt shrug off, so we agreed to follow him up in the lift (i thought he had a shop on the 2nd floor) and he took us past a lot of appartments, into a room (which in hindsight was a stupid thing for us to agree to) and proceeded to show us his selection of watches and bags and everything imaginable! Haggle hard, and im told if you can get something for a third of what they offer first then you have done well. Not sure you haggle/barter in the Emirates shopping mall however. As i say, best holiday ever and has totally spoilt us for everything else.

One downside though was British Airways. All flights on time/all very polite, but coming out the TV monitors on our seats wouldnt work so we had all to sit apart. Coming back they said they were 'overbooked' and offered us a Royal Brunai flight with upgrade and compensation, i would have snapped her hand off but there were three of us and this was only for two. I sat with a TV monitor in my mouth for 6 hours when the person in front put her seat back. So - we are going Emirates next time, Ive heard they are excellent.

We had a fantastic 7 nights at the JBH during August. We also had an early arrival and were provided breakfast, mobile phone etc. and our room was even ready a few hours early. The staff are so helpful and friendly they can't do enough for you.

We had a Balcony room which was worth the extra. Although it was really hot(40oc+) it was nice to sit outside and look out onto the resort. Rooms are excellent with fresh fruit and water supplied daily and chocolates of an evening.

A wide choice of restaurants, our favourites being the Al Muntaha and Al Mahara at the Burj, both a must.

Wild Wadi is great but best between 10-11 am when it's only open to the hotel guests, also great fun at night. Beach and pools are excellent, ice towels, watermelon and ice lollies are provided continuously.

We did not experience any construction work/noise at the JBH or around the resort during our stay. We had a superb time and will definitely be going back.

Hotel / Resort :-

We have just returned from the best hotel / resort that we have ever visited.

You are treated with superb service, from the moment you arrive at Dubai Airport.

We arrived during early morning (as we were so early, the room was not ready), so the hotel provided a complimentary breakfast, allowed us to use all the facilities and gave us a mobile phone so they could contact us as soon as the room was available....excellent customer service !

The hotel is immense, however it's a very relaxed environent. The hotel staff will do anything to make sure your happy.

The towels and bed-sheets are changed on a daily basis. The rooms are also cleaned and the bed is made / turned twice a day.

All the sunloungers (around the pools or on the beach) are provided with 2 massive beach towels.

Dining :-

We ate in La Parilla on the 25th floor of the JBH. For main course, we choose the 500g fillet steak and rack of lamb. The food was excellent; however we aware the bill was 725 Dirhams.

We also ate at Zing Hes chinese restaraunt at the Mina-Salam. This was the best chinese meal we have ever eaten. The duck starter and the peppered diced-beef tenderloin were unbelievable. The cost of the meal was 485 Dirhams. We thought this was very reasonable for such a superb meal. This was our no 1.

We treated ourselves to a meal at the 'Al Muntana' restaraunt, at the top of the Burj Al Arab. The speciality is WAGYU beef (this is acknowledged as the finest beef in the world; it used to be bread especially for Japennese Emperors). The taste of the beef and the whole experience is remarkable; however it doesn't come cheap. The meal (including 2 drinks of champagne cocktail) was 1350 Dirhams. If your celebrating a special occasion I would recommend this meal as a 'one off' treat !

We also ate at the Hard Rock Cafe and really enjoyed the food. It was the typical Hard Rock menu and we loved it. We chose a mixed combo for 2, and double cheessburgers with bacon. The portions were huge and the whole meal (including 3 budweisers / 3 smirnoff ice) came to 285 Dirhams. This is an ideal venue for taking the kids.

The only meal we didn't enjoy was PaiThai at Al-Qasa in Medinat. The food was excellent quality, however it wasn't to our taste. Again, this meal cost around 465 Dirhams. Everyone we spoke to really enjoyed this restaraunt....it just wasn't to our taste ! The big bonus for this restaraunt is the boat (Abra) journey that you take to reach the restaraunt. We boarded the boat at Mina-Salam and this takes you around the waterways, until you arrive at the restaraunt, located within Al-Qasa.

Excursions / Sightseeing :-

The Wild Wadi waterpark is amazing and the selection of rides are great. There is the Jumeirah Sceirah, which is the highest waterslide outside North America. There is also the Masterblaster slides which are up-hill waterslides. As a guest at the JBH, you recieve 'unlimited' access, you get prefered access before the park opens to the public and you can access the park direct from the hotel grounds. This is an excellent benifit and was a big bonus.

To gain a bit of culture we went for the desert bashing adventure. This involved a 45 minute drive into the desert where we met the other 4x4's. Once in the desert, we (Mr Khan....the excellent driver) deflated the tyres, before attacking the massive sand dunes. It was like a white knuckle ride, driving up and down 30-50 high meter sand dunes. After a couple of hours we went to a camel farm, then we stopped to watch the sunset over the desert.......this was an amazing sight. The evening was rounded off with an Arabic BBQ with unlimited drinks, and a fine selection of food. The excursion cost 270 Dirhams each and it was real value for money.

Overall :-

I would recommend this hotel to anybody in search of an excellent holiday. The hotel is suited to young or old, couples, families or sinlgles.

We went on honeymoon; however we intend to book for next year and take our 2 little boys !
