What can I say that others haven't already - it's a fantastic place to stop. We chose this hotel as our first stop in Dubai and then onto the Burj Al Arab for one night, before flying off to Mauritius to get married. It's just perfect. Very hot in August, so don't go if you can't stand the heat ! A little way down the waterway in an Abra there is a Souk which also have a few eating places - the Noodle Bar was my favourite.

Dubai is a must see destination. They have over 45 projects on the go over the next 10 years, mainly out towards the desert where they are building, building, building and they are making the airport bigger to cope with the expected influx of visitors. All...

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and what can I say this is a luxury home away from home for me! This is like being a footballers wife for the week. The hotel is very arabic and traditional and provides a breakfast second to none.

The pool is very clean with comfortable beds, at 11am you get your cold towel, at 12noon they come with little skewers of fresh fruit, at 2pm they come with mini lollys and ice cream, at 3.30pm more fruit, at 4pm cold towels and at 5pm cucumber for eyes while they clean your sunglasses. the restaurants are in abundance, I love Jambase which has a Jazz band playing while you sample the onion bread waiting on your starter. The Left Bank does the best battered fish and chips with home made tomato ketchup. I love the night club Trilogy it is best to go Thursday Nite, The barhi bar does the best belinis in the world. Designer Paridise in the Malls.

Oh I cant wait to get back next year!!!!

The rooms are not huge, but then how much time are you really in your room? the breakfasts are awesome, so much choice, and im a fussy vegetarian!

Yes, i admit, staying at this place, is not cheap.. unless you managed to get a fab deal, somewhere, but its far less 'pretentious' than the Burj, and has the far nicer pools too.
I will go back, when we have paid off this holiday! but as they say..'youre worth it!'

This hotel is FAB! it is right on the Jumeirah Beach opposite the Burj and Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
It is part of the Madinat Jumeirah Resort, incorporating the Al Qasr Hotel.

The resort is linked by waterways and guests travel everywhere by Abras or water taxis, although it is easy to walk. Someone said it was like an adult Disney resort. There are about 50 bars/resturants, mostly guests can add charges to their room bill whereever they are staying in the resort, which includes the Burj, Jumeirah Beach and Emirates Towers in Dubai city. However, there are one or two resturants/bars which do not participate in this scheme, so check first. Be warned though, most charge London prices.

We liked Pier Chic and Napa resturants best.

There is a souk in the resort, which was fun to look around, but again very expensive. We shopped in Dubai (free bus from hotel) but taxi ride about £7. If you find the right shopping places it is ridiculously cheap. Al Karama was particulary good for fake designer goods. The little alleys around the Gold Souk were good for cheap goods as well.

Customer care is faultless. Fruit kebabs, cool flannels, sun glasses cleaned as complimentary extras. Fruit in rooms, beach towels supplied. Everyone was so polite and friendly and genuinely nothing was too much trouble.
It was a shame that some guests, particularly from Eastern Europe/Russia were so rude to the staff who really went out of their way to ensure guests were looked after.

We stayed at the Jumeirah Beach in 2003 which was lovely but more ";in your face"; and child orinetated and much preferred this hotel which was more up market.

The only minor irritation is that the pool is only just deep enough to swim in. However, the Al Qasar has, it is rumoured, the biggest pool in the middle East, although that was fairly shallow also. Otherwise we could not fault this complex and are planning a return.

There is a huge amount of development going on in Dubai, both in the city and at Palm Island 1 and 2 and The World. I wonder if it will become over developed?

The temperature was about 30 degress, eveings were warm. The concensus was though, that July and August are unbearably hot.
