Ribby Hall Village is fantastic. For our previous holidays we have been to Haven sites and we can safely say we won’t be going back there. Ribby may cost more than Haven but the premium was definitely worth it.
We had a Jasmine cottage which had a double en-suite bedroom and two twin bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen/diner with cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave, a lounge with leather sofas and an LCD TV. There are grassed areas everywhere with picnic tables.
On our 1st night we ate at the Bar & Grill and the staff there were friendly and took an interest in our children (5 & 2). The food was reasonable although not fantastic and the prices were reasonable too. We stayed on to watch the entertainment which was better than anything we had seen at Haven. Crazy Craig, Gemma and Vicky knew exactly how to entertain children and also got the parents involved too. On the first night I was on stage doing the YMCA and did Horse and Jockey with my daughter. It was completely different to the Haven way of plonking characters in costumes to entertain the kids and leaving the parents to get drunk. On Sunday and Tuesday there was a magician called Tricky who was very loud but the kids loved him. At the end of the night they have a Party in the Dark for the kids and they are encouraged to buy flashing/glow in the dark stuff but that is the only time parents have to get their wallets out. There was also hair colouring, face painting and tattoos. Unlike Haven the amusements were not massive and there were none of the dreaded ticket machines which meant that our daughter didn’t spend £20 to win a key ring! Our kids were tired out every night!
The leisure facilities were also good. The changing rooms have a door to go in and a separate door to get poolside so there isn’t water all over the changing rooms. Be aware however that they are family changing rooms and therefore unisex. There is a really handy water extractor to enable you to dry swimming costumes before you leave. The family pool is really big although not particularly deep. There are two jacuzzis, a small bubble pool for kids and a separate pool for under 4’s. There are 2 slides, adults can use the blue slide, the yellow slide looked better but that is only for 4-15 year olds. In the same complex there is a sports shop, squash courts, sports hall, soft play for kids and a Bistro.
Blackpool is dreadful. The fact that it was raining didn't help but it really is the pits
