We arrived at this hotel after staying at a derelict looking motel in Kissimmee. So to us Trianon was a palace. As we were on a fly drive all of our accommodation was booked over the internet.
The accommodation was lovely. The rooms had a small balcony, not big enough to sit on, but a balcony none-the-less. Huge bathrooms with separate showers and baths and a massive king size bed with one of those matresses which mold to your body (Tempura or something?)

The hotel pool is private and soft fluffy towels are provided so you don't need your own.
The resort of Naples is very 'chic'. A place to be seen. It is full of designer shops, bars and restaurants. We found a great burger place called cheeburger cheeburger - it made a change from MacDonalds and Burger King! There's also a great Irish bar where you can sit outside and do some people watching (mainly of the eccentric locals, taking their dogs for a walk in a push chair!)

The beach is white sand with lots of crushed shells, so beware of cutting your feet. The sea is gorgeous blue, but not clear, a bit wavy and lots of seaweed, so I didn't go in. My husband thought he felt something sucking on his leg whilst in the sea... could've been seaweed, but who knows!
Saw dolphins and pelicans when we went for a walk on the pier. Nice to see dolphins in the wild.
We left Naples to travel to the Keys and en-route we stopped off at the Everglades (40 mins drive from Naples) to have a air boat tour. This cost £38 per couple for 45mins. It was only around the mangroves and not across the wet lands, but we did see lots of alligators.

Naples is great place to go if you have loads of money to shop, but could be depressing if you don't! Also great for artistic/creative types of people as there are lots of art galleries.

The Registry Resort in Naples was BEAUTIFUL. We booked it as our 2nd week in Florida for our honeymoon and weren't disappointed. When we arrived the receptionist couldn't find our booking. After 5 minutes of panicking, she apologised profusely, upgraded our room to the top floor with fantastic views and when we got there, found a bottle of champagne, chocolate-dipped strawberries and a written note apologising for the delay at check-in.

It was 5 minutes!!!!!

Great service and we had just arrived. The room was out of this world - every luxury you could think of, bath robes, chocolates on your pillow every night, a huge double walk-in shower and separate hot tub, double sinks, it just goes on!!!

The pool area is gorgeous and there were always lots of clean and tidy sunbeds. Staff would come round the guests with trays of iced water and lemon throughout the day (more importantly at no charge!) to keep you cool. There was poolside service for food and drinks so if you didn't want to get up off the sun lounger, you didn't have to.

Free golf buggies chauffeur you to the private beach owned by the hotel - gorgeous sands with crystal clear water and totally deserted in mid-August, but you are a fair way from any shops and have to buy drinks from the beach hut owned by the hotel.

The rest of the complex was 5* - the hotel bar was great, the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. In fact, we felt quite poor because we wanted to tip everyone, and the concierge staff kept checking we were enjoying ourselves. It was quite embarrassing when we found ourselves without any low value dollars on check-out!

There is a new nightclub/bar that opened when we arrived and we were invited to the managers welcome evening. The personal invite left on our bed along with an itinery of what was going on that day made us feel really welcome and valued. A lot of the rich local youngsters go to the nightclub on resort (can't remember the name) so we went along and some people invited us to Miami for the rest of the weekend on their yacht!!! (Felt even poorer then...)

We had a 3 course dinner once in the hotel (v. expensive) which was amazing. Food was brilliant, couldn't eat it all, was amazed at the good service and wish we had eaten there every night.

Overall - a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing week. The standard of accommodation was really very high and I would definitely use this hotel again and again. Would like to return for an anniversary in fact.

One bad point - do NOT use the hotel phones. I made the mistake of calling my parents to tell them about our fab honeymoon thinking that it wouldn't cost much and my husband didn't mind me using the phone briefly! Until we got the bill on check out. 9 minutes to the UK cost us £75!!!!! What a rip off!!!! I knew hotel calls would be expensive, but not that expensive!

Stay at this wonderful hotel - it hit all the right buttons for us. Fantastic experience and wish I was there right now one year on....

The rest of Naples, though pretty, seemed a bit of a rip off; the meal we ate in ";Corks"; was both the most expensive of our trip and the least well cooked. Lots of posing on 5th Avenue but little substance. I think the well healed ar bin rather ripped off; which is nice!

Good birdwatching (feathered)on the pretty beach.

The Registry Resort - Naples is wonderful, the hotel is first class and I would recomend it to anyone. The facilities are excellent, the food quality within the hotel is stunning and the bedrooms are superb. In fact it was often a shame to leave the room. The kids, both girls, loved having their own adjoining room and the chocs on the bed every night proved a real sucess.

Naples is a quaint town with obvious wealth and prosperity with some exclusive shops and eating places, however there are also some excellent food choices at less expensive venues. The Old Pub in Naples served the best Crab Fishcakes I have ever tasted and the service was wonderful.

The site of wild dolphins swimming in the sea at sunset, from the pier is one that will always stay with us.

All in all an amazing way to spend the second week of our trip to Florida after a busy week in Orlando.

After two weeks in a Villa (Hampton lakes, which was very good)we travelled the 240 miles down from Orlando to Naples on the Gulf Coast.Dont be put off by the drive it is well worth it, to the Registry.
It is a top class Hotel with every facility you could want, staff and service could not be faulted. Rooms were tremendous, with the hotel, grounds and pools kept to a very high standard.
The beach has to be seen to be believed, miles of white clean sand with no crowds in sight. They even drive you to the beach along the board walk in a golf buggy.
On the beach the hotel even has a service to provide you with free towels and sunbeds. The Gulf of Mexico is the warmest water I have even swum in (90 deg).
Tip, watch out for stingrays as you walk in and can tread on with nasty results.

Apart from that, the place is outstanding, do visit Naples pier and Harbour, you can see wild Dolphins most days.
We went bay fishing from the harbour for $50 per person, well worth it, book this at Tin City. This is a realy good way to see the Harbour and the multi -million dollar houses that line the estuary. The boat skipper and crew were terrific, all fishing gear provided and they help you with everything. The kids had a great time and will always remember catching the huge fish.

Naples is a very rich area with lots of high class shops and restaurants, but you can still eat out at reasonable prices.
Despite Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Frances ( yes we got both of them ,one on the day we arrived and the other on the days we were due to leave, but that is another story) I would recommend the Hotel and Naples area, just dont go to Florida in Hurricane season.

P.S. if you think you can save money by booking independantly, just think what happens if a Hurricane hits and you are staying in a private Villa, you are on your own. Heard some real horror stories of people people being forced to leave the area by the authorities, and damaged houses with no electricity. Worth thinking about.

Naples has the most beautiful, unspoilt beach. The town seems very proud of its shops, but a lot of them seem to be designer, up-market boutiques. We went in January, and there was no sign of the famous Naples trolley bus running the whole of the week we were there.

We had a fabulous time; no crowds, the weather was in the mid-70s, and it's less than two hours to go down to the Everglades. (well worth doing).

We flew to Miami with Virgin. Huge queues at the airport to go through immigration controls ( about 3 hours), but otherwise everything went swimmingly. It's about 2 hours or so to Naples from Miami,if all goes well.

The Edgewater Beach is in an idyllic location, although, to be honest, the hotel does look rather tired in places. The staff were pleasant, although the prices in the shop, restaurant and bar are virtually double what you would pay elsewhere. The pool was quite nice, not too big, but clean. I would think getting alounger would be a problem in high season, as there were quite a few(empty) ones with towels on when we were there, and the place couldn't have been more than a quarter full.

We were located on the fourth floor in the tower block, which has not yet been renovated. But the room was huge, the bedroom was huge, the bed was about 8ft across, and there was a separate kitchen with fridge and microwave etc. We had a partial sea view, which we were delighted with, as we hadn't paid extra for it, but the rooms which look directly onto the beach were all occupied by Americans ( ie. don't think they're part of the Virgin block booking). Balcony was long but very thin, but it was ideal to sit out on, enjoying a glass of wine while watching the brilliant Florida sunsets.

There are loads of restaurants etc, places to visit, but , since it was off-season, it was all quite quiet(which we enjoyed). Pizzas at Silver Spoon Cafe are quite nice. And of course you can do your own breakfasts, salads etc in your suite.

We're definitely going back, and probably to the Edgewater, as its location is idyllic. We visited the Registry Resort, which is quite upmarket, but we didn't like it half as much. There are lots of cheaper places to stay than the Edgewater, but they're all a drive from the beach, and of course, if you're staying at somewhere that doesn't have its own bit of beach, you have to use the public beach ( which was pretty good, but you don't have use of free loungers, parasols etc).
