This was our 12th visit to Orlando and the only occasion when we have been disappointed with the accommodation. We paid just over £1400 on the resort's website for a 3 bedroom Grand Bahama condo, which looked quite luxurious. On arrival, the condo was dirty and the carpet was absolutely filthy. I rang reception to ask for an alternative and was told that the place was full. After some persuasion, we were given a further 2 condos and felt that we had to settle for the best one out of the 3. All mirrors were absolutely filthy, you could write your name in the dust on furniture and headboards, the kitchen doors were full of grease, there was a dirty flannel lying on one of the sofas, hair balls lying by tables etc......not what Ilive with at home so neither do I expect this on holiday. We spoke to another 2 families at the poolside who had the same trouble and paid another cleaning fee to have their accommodation re-cleaned! The gated community is slight exaggeration because at the bottom of the resort there is further construction work being carried out which allows access to any passer by. Would I go back? No way and to any one going soon.....take a pack of flash wipes!
Orlando is fantastic.

We've just returned from 2 weeks at Bahama Bay Resort (Block 22, apt 103), and we found it to be a good location for those wanting to be a bit out-of-the-way. The directions on the website were spot-on right up until within a mile, when we missed the turn and had to do a u-turn due to a lack of signage on highway 27. The resort is a long way from International Drive and most of Kissimmee - on most days it took us at least 30 minutes or more to drive to Seaworld/Aquatica, but Disney would have been much closer. First impressions were good - the "clubhouse" is well-presented and well-staffed. Unfortunately the clubhouse can be quite a walk from some of the apartments and sadly not all of the advertised services were available during our stay (the mini-cinema and the DVD rental were both advertised, but nowhere to be found!). At check-in we were asked to pay a "cleaning fee" of $65 plus tax and to leave a credit card authorisation for $200 if we were to smoke in the apartment - neither of which were mentioned by our tour operator (Cosmos). Our apartment was on the ground floor, and on first appearances much of the furnishings and carpets were "tired" - the sofa-bed was threadbare in places and had seen better days, the tables, TV unit, dining table and hall stand were marked and scratched. The TVs were old CRT models without their original remote controls and the remote for the TV in the master bedroom didn't work (as the TV was sited very high on the wall the only way to put it on or to change channels was to stand on a chair). The kitchen was very well-equipped and had a huge fridge-freezer, 4-ring stove, microwave and dishwasher. The best feature of all was that the apartment had a washing machine and dryer - meaning that towels and swimsuits could be rinsed and dried and that we were able to return home with suitcases full of CLEAN clothes. What a difference!
The reports of noise from the apartments above were accurate and that did cause some annoyance. Someone skimped on the sound insulation during construction.
The pools & jacuzzi were great, although some blocks had a much longer walk than others. Unfortunately the pools were open on a dawn to dusk basis - but that meant they were closed before 9am and after 8pm on most days. On previous visits to Florida one of the best cures for the Theme-Park sore feet/muscles was a 15 minute soak in the jacuzzi and a swim - but you'll not get that at Bahama Bay!
Would we go back? Probably not!

Fantastic, just returned in April 2008, excellent location although not easily signposted, but once you eventually find it, its great, condo grand bahama on third floor, B16 room 113 was fantastic, lovely and homely, definately big enough for a family, and the washer and dryer were very handy, on site shop a little expensive but go to a publix supermarket if you like to have food in the condo as the american food choice is mamounth.
Very good for disney, not close to unviersal unless you are only visiting maybe once or twice.
We were quoted a cleaning departure fee, but were never charged it, and we also got a free uprade to a 3 bedroom which i think alot of people do, i noticed that the 2 bed did not have very big balcony, also the lake has a few midgies but this is not negative its just info.
Would definately recommend it and don;t think you will ever get such a large condo with on site bar and pool, tradewinds was ok and we only ate there once, as we normally called in a restaurant on the 192 on way home from a park.
if we go to the disney end again i would definately recommend and stay here.
excellent

This resort was very nice, quiet, pleasing to the eye, friendly, close to amenities but totally away from any crowds. We stayed in a top floor 3 bedroom condo which was beautifully decorated, very spacious and with every convenience you could wish for. There were several swimming pools, we mainly used the club-house pool which again was very pleasant. We did not experience any noise at all albeit we were in off peak season. Car hire is essential however, all the parks are within 20 to 30 minutes on very easy roads and all parks are well sign posted. The only 'hitch' we encountered was that the resort is not particularly easy to find in the dark as there are no illuminated signs and the road name sign was virtually impossible to find.
Our favourite restaurant was Bob Evans which is about 8 minutes from the resort on the 192. We say this as they served really fresh vegetables with a good selection of food on the menu and in a nice environment.
All in all a wonderful holiday, lovely resort which we will definately return to.
PS. Don't take any towels, the Bahama Bay supply them in abundance!
