"Holiday Inn International"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Weve just come back from Holiday Inn in July. And i must say what a weird hotel. The main tower is like a prison, hollow in the middle! The hotel is huge, it has the tower and motel style rooms. We were put in motel room. It was horrible, dark, musty and it overlooked the stairs. So we asked to be moved and they put us in tower. Better room, big but dark. So if you go there the tower block or rooms overlooking pool( although not many overlook pool due to trees)are better. Food in hotel was ok, only ate there once, dont go to Florida to stay in hotel anyway. Pool was ok but looked so small compaired to travel book. Weve been to Florida six times and we love it, we had a great time but if you want a basic hotel in a great location then its for you, dont pay book price its not worth it. We went through My Travel.co.uk, the're cheaper than travel agents. They wanted three grand no way its worth that.We think its should be a two star plus not three plus.If you want a great resturant then go to Chillis over road great food!

Overall Hotel Rating:
We have just returned from a two week holiday to Florida staying at the Holiday Inn International Drive. First impressions of the hotel were that it was a little tired and could of done with a lick of paint to freshen things up, we were not in the tower and the room we had was adequate, two big beds, tv, bath, shower, fridge, microwave etc. The location of the hotel was excellent and the staff and service were fantastic. I would recommend having breakfast in the hotel, we thought it was excellent and the staff were always very pleasant and cheerful. If you venture out i'd give the Poderosa a miss and walk a wee bit further to Sizzlers, far superior and cheap as chips!!!!!! Dinners can be as plain or as fancy as you want, grab a pizza and take it back to your hotel room if its been a long day, buffet at Golden Corral or for something a wee bit special i'd really recoommend the Brazillian Steak House (just up from Pizza Hut) the steak is amazing. The parks are brilliant, there is something magical about it all. Don't miss the fireworks at Disney at night well worth staying up for. It is an unforgetable holiday but going at this time of year the heat is unbelievable and the parks are very busy, if this would put you off go out of seaon. Can't wait to go back, amazing.

Went here in June last year, chose this hotel because of the location as we wern't hiring a car. After reading some of the reviews I must admit I was a bit worried but really cannot understand what on earth some people expect as we found the hotel spot-on!! On arrival we were asked where we'd like our room located, our kids said they wanted a view so we were placed on 11th floor overlooking I-drive with windows the length of the room!! The view was fantastic - esp when lit up at night. Room was very spacious and comfortable, free Wi-fi (my son took his lap-top) and free safe. Only problem we had was into the second week an Americal couple moved in next door and the bloke used to have the TV FULL BLAST - ALL NIGHT!!! On the 2nd night my husband went and knocked on his door and shouted for him to turn it down but he just ignored us so we rang reception to complain and we were asked if we would like to move to another room?....we said we didn't see why it was us who had to be moved when it was the neighbour being the nuisance and we just wanted him silenced, reception rang his room and had a word and problem solved - TV turned down and no more problems after that. Plenty of places to eat near-by - would recommend Denny's, Sizzlers & there's a pizza hut up the road, bearing in mind that their large pizza's are twice the size of back in good old blighty (and half the price). Had heard lots of good things about breakfast at Ponderosa which is just over the road but must admit I didn't rate it for B/fast - much nicer in the hotel, although I would recommend it for evening meal. As for the theme parks - Fantastic, very tiring but worth it - we tended to go to parks for 2/3 days and have a day by the pool - otherwise you are shattered. Sea-world, Epcot and the universal were the best - also liked Animal Kingdom. Do not miss the spiderman ride at Universal - out of this world. All in all would recommend Orlando and definitely recommend the Holiday Inn. Some people must just look for things to moan about!!

Overall Hotel Rating:
Had an excellent time on our first visit as a family to Florida
The Hotel is situated in what i would describe a the middle of International Drive an excellent location whether your driving whilst your there or not it has a friendly laid back atmosphere but we did chnage rooms on initial booking we got given a room close to the pool area but got moved to the Tower which was great maid service every day and the room was spotless also although we hired a room safe there was a lot of stuff left around and nothing was ever touched
Visited most of the parks with the exception of Busch Gardens for some reason - all fantastic with lots too do with all ages catered for our son is a roller coaster freak and although only 7 got on them all and due to the time of the year with the exception of the weekends the parks were pretty quiet we were waiting a max of 15 minutes to get on any of the attractions even at weekends the most we waited was around 1hr - We preferred Universal Studio's parks and you must eat at the Hard Rock and have the ribs they were to die for other eateries of note - The Olive Garden & Chili's also for breakfast try the ponderosa across the street kids ate free cost us around $20 dollars for all three of us including tip
The weather at this time of the year was also Ok being around 70 - 80 degrees every day although the locals complained it was cold
A must see & do is the dolphin swim at Sea Worlds Discovery Cove pretty expensive but worth every single penny another thing we did at Sea World was dine with Shamoo excellent as you get reserved seating for the Believe Show
Also get a two week pass for all on the I-Ride fantastic for getting up & down international drive
One minor thing which we experienced whilst we were there there was a big collge football game "american football" going on the day before we were due to come home and International Drive was basically colsed for the day by the police around 60,000 college kids in town for a couple of days "very intimidating"
Also one other thing you TIP EVERYONE for some reason - now i'm no stingy so and so and when i received good service i always left more than the 18% they expect but some people just don't deserve it but my god they all expect it,
Try the shopping parks for great bargains especially as you get so much to the pound we were getting over $2 dollars at the time i waited to purchase a watch whilst there and saved £200 on what it would have cost in the UK - if your a fisherman like me you must go to the BASS PRO Shop on Intnl Dr ABSOLTUELY FIRST CLASS
Overall an excellent holiday and we will be back and i would most certainly stay in the same hotel

Overall Hotel Rating:
After reading the reviews on this hotel I was extremely worried and even consemplated cancelling the booking - I am so glad I didn't now. I emailed the hotel and asked to be put in the Resort building - the Virgin rep advised we didn't as the Tower rooms are more spacious but that wasn't an issue.
The Resort rooms are basic, yet have everything you need, 2 double beds, big screen TV etc etc, the only noise we could hear were the trolleys from the maids going up and down the corrider. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard every day, hotel staff were always friendly. We had a problem with the bath when we arrived, I reported it straight away and it was dealt with immediately, their customer service is fantastic.
The hotel is in a fab location, only minutes from Wet n Wild and Universal and a short taxi/bus ride to Seaworld, Discovery Cove. Taxis and buses are both cheap.
Eating out is cheap on International Drive, we found Sizzlers to be the best, for quality and cheapness. On I Drive you can have a cheap and cheerful night and an expensive lush one the next. There really is something to suit all tastes. There is an 18 hole crazy golf course nearby called Congo River which is also worth a visit - great in the evening, there is also an English pub next door called George and Dragon which finished the night off nicely.
Overall, a fantastic holiday we would definately visit Florida again and would not hesitate at staying at the Holiday Inn again. We would definatly use Virgin again, the flights were good, cabin staff friendly, food was nice, plentiful drinks throught the flight. The only snag I have is that my screen didn't work on the return flight, however Virgin were very good and gave me a DVD player to use during the flight with a wide selection of DVD's to choose from.

"Holiday Inn International review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We have just returned form our holiday and found the Holiday Inn to be perfect. It is very close to Universal Studios, Disney and Sea World.
We stayed in the Tower block I was worried at first after reading other reviews. It was very quite, once you were inside your room you heard nothing.
We think the maid use to have a secret cigarette as the toilet always smelt when we returned of someone smoking. She left hints everyday for a tip, but she did a good job on cleaning.
We never used the swimming pool as there is so much more to do. We didn't like Pondarosa for eating out, some of the plates were quite dirty and all you do there is pile your plate high with rubbish food.
We went to another Diner called Dennys we found this to be much better, we found another restuarant called Ming Yay House which was a really nice Chinese, you chose from the menue, no buffet.
We use to get a taxi to Universal Studios some nights as it was really nice around their. My son could go on some rides then we would go to the Hard Rock Cafe for our meal.
The people are very friendly and helpful, they are very polite as well.
Disney Epcot has a wonderful Italian restuarant which is worth a visit.
Magic Kingdom was busy and you have to go along way from the car park to the park.
Animal Kingdom is really good, we didn't think much of MGM it seemed a bit dated, the one in Paris is better.
Sea World was busy but we had arrived early and saw all the shows before they got full up in the afternoon.
We went to Miami for the day which was a strange place.
Shopping is great everything is cheap, some things look a bit out of date, there are loads of shopping malls.
We went to Gatorland which was really good, and we took a ride on an air boat at Boggy Creek, but we didn't see any gators as it was too hot for them but we enjoyed the ride.
We also went to Busch Gardens if you like fast roller coasters you will love this place.
We had some rain, especially towards the end of the holiday, our last night it was pouring with rain and very windy, so we got a taxi to the Chinese and still enjoyed the night. We think it was the Start to Hurricane Charlie.
School children all go back to school on the 10th August, that might be a quiter time to visit.
We flew with Virgin and they were 101% excellent, they take your luggage the night before it you want them to, and when it comes to the end of your holiday you can check all your luggage in at Downtown Disney and get your seat allocation given to you.
The flight was excellent, they are the best holiday company we have ever travelled with.
Going to Florida was the best holiday we have ever had, it was so entertaining.
