We had previously stayed at the Luxor, which although was fantastic, it was also too big, with miles of walking, so we thought we would try something smaller. Read reports on the Gold Coast so opted for that. Stayed here in December 2004 and again in April 2005.

Small reception with helpful staff. Rooms had all facilities needed, e.g. aircon, hairdryer, large beds, bathroom with bath and shower (although bathroom a bit old fashioned). Swimming pool adequate, with lovely hot tub at the side, a fitness room if you want it.

The buffet is fantastic, quality and value for money, e.g. breakfast usually $6 which includes all drinks and as much as you can eat of ANYTHING, and we mean ANYTHING!!! There's Chinese, Mongolian, Mexican, American, Seafood, Italian and dessert station. Same at lunch and dinner as well but different prices. Other restaurants in the hotel as well.

There is a 70 lane bowling alley in the hotel!! And the shuttle bus takes you to sister hotels, e.g. the Orleans where there is a cinema complex. Another shuttle bus takes you to the strip in about 10 mins, drops off and picks up at the Barbary Coast which is right in the centre, opposite Caesars Palace.

Overall, good hotel, comfortable, and a good base for Las Vegas, smaller and more personal than the bigger hotels, and cheaper if you're on a budget. You can still visit the big hotels.

Las Vegas itself is out of this world, Disneyworld for adults!!! Celine Dion is worth seeing, fabulous. Other (cheaper) shows worth seeing are Le Cage at the Riviera; American Superstars at Stratosphere; Legends at Imperial Palace, and a MUST is the Fremont Street Experience.

If you like cars, visit the car exhibition at Imperial Palace, you can pick up free coupons in magazines, and you will not be disappointed.
There is so much to see in Vegas, we could be here all day, but on a final note, to all you men who like 'boys toys', go to the Las Vegas Gun store 2900 East Tropicana and enjoy shooting real machine guns and hand guns e.g. AK47 and Magnums (all supervised safely in booths)- GREAT FUN!!!!

We have been three times now to Las Vegas and will DEFINITELY be going again!!!

Dont be put off by first impressions after driving down the ultra glitsy strip to find this hotel,we arived very tired at 2am and thought we were in hell after there being no room available(travel agent cock up).Things started to look up in the morning after a great breakfast at unbelievable price.the room was standard american room, comfortable spacious and great beds. After tripping round all and i mean all the other hotels on the strip we can only say that yes there are glitsyer hotels, larger hotels, and bigger casinos but the Gold coast was just right and the best thing over all the others that does it for me was the food,at least half the price of everywhere else and just as good. The shuttle bus was it seamed always just waiting to take you to the strip, and a short walk to the rio and their shuttle bus put you at the other end of the strip.

If i returned to vegas then i would without doubt stay here again, just because the others are big doesnt mean there good.
Clean hotel,polite staff.For me 10/10.

my husband and i have stayed in the gold coast twice now, and we wouldnt hesitate to stay there again. although this hotel is not one of the more glitzy or glamourous buildings on the strip, it is very comfortable and relaxing. the staff are friendly, the food is excellent, especially terrible mikes burger bar which does a fantastic range of burgers and snacks. the gold coast even has a hotdog stand in the middle of the casino, selling hotdogs for 75 cents!. the pool is lovely and the rooms are spacious, clean, with cable tv, pay per view movies, 24 hour room service, iron, hairdryer etc. there is also a free shuttle bus which takes you up onto the strip just by the barbary coast hotel. the casino itself at the gold coast is just the right size. you have a nice variety of slot machines and table games without the worry of getting lost or having to walk miles to your hotel room. there is a 70 lane bowling alley upstairs too, which is very reasonable priced, and i would highly recommend the cheese fries in the bowling snack bar!

we enjoyed the huge variety of ice creams in kates corner and also the coffee shop, both located in the hotel. the handy thing about staying in the gold coast is that you are only a short taxi ride away from down town vegas, so you get the best of both worlds for about the same taxi fare. i wont even try to explain what vegas itself is like. we have been there four times now, and we cant wait to go again. wouldnt recommend vegas for very young children, but apart from that there is plenty to do for all ages. if you go downtown to see the freemont street experience, remember to try your luck on the wheel of fortune slot machines in mermaids casino and also in la bayou casino. thats where i had the best luck! las vegas is my favourite place in the world, and i would definately live there if i had the chance.

anybody thinking of going to las vegas, stop thinking of it and go!.

we will have to go back as a week was not enough, the only drawback is the horrible journey home.
