This was the trip of a lifetime for an old rocker!
We booked flight+hotel+car on Expedia and for 3 people, flight, a medium car and 2 hotel rooms we were very pleased at the total price of £1728.

We thought the hotel may be a bit out of town but this turned out better as the famous downtown ones had difficult parking and the facilities were excellent for a 2/3 star. The journey into downtown Memphis took only 15 mins. on their excellent road system.

The attractions were many and varied, get a guide book, Elvis's Graceland being the star attraction which is brilliant for a fan despite being disappointingly small and a bit tacky. Sun Studios was the best tour for me and you actually get to feel the presence of the likes of Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Carl perkins, Elvis of course, and on the day we went in november it was very quiet and I was even allowed to play Jerry Lee's piano, Great Balls of Fire!!
Beale St is good, very bluesy and they're still doing it, musicians on every corner, interesting shops and restuarants, get your fill of jambalaya, crawfish pie and filli gumbo! (we did, its a bit strange)
The rock and blues museum is a 'must see' and traces the history from slaves to blues to rock to present day, amazing.

We drove the 200 miles to Nashville where there is more but we gave it a miss in preference for the plantation house at Belle Meade, for 'Gone with the wind' fans ..well worth $9, and then we went another 200 miles to Knoxville to visit 'dollywood' which turns out to be an ex funfair taken over and developed by Dolly Parton, we didnt think it was that great for $40 entrance (each) if youve already been to disney, the rides were a bit puny and mostly closed for thanksgiving (?) although the resort of Pigeon Forge is like a gigantic Blackpool and familys will probably have a great time there.

Excellent scheduled flights on American Airlines, a good hotel and a big Buik SUV (petrol is only 99p!) huge portions in every eatery, we enjoyed every moment despite putting on pounds!
The only issue we had was their obsession with god and it was ten times easier to get a bible than a drink.. thanks Dubblya..
This was a fabulous trip and i would recommend it whether you are a music fan or not.
